She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 171 - 132: Squeezing into the Ranks of the "Nobles" (Part 2)
Thinking of this, the corners of Han Lei’s mouth slightly lifted. No matter how many difficulties and obstacles lay ahead, she must continue toward that goal.
After all, this was no longer just her mission, but it was also her shared destiny with Zhao Zun.
"Alright, don’t just stand there! Let’s get to work!"
After a brief shock and awe, Zhao Zun called everyone back to work.
The mine was bustling with activity, the dust from explosions not yet fully dispersed, and the faint smell of gunpowder lingered in the air.
The workers gathered in small groups, holding the tools Han Lei had brought, and started busying themselves by loading the scattered iron bauxite into baskets and back carriers, some even loading them onto three-wheeled carts.
Though their faces were covered with dust, their eyes sparkled with excitement.
It was now around two or three in the afternoon, the scorching sun high in the sky. Surrounding the mine were exposed rocks, no grass grew, and not a single tree shade could be found.
Han Lei looked up at the blinding sun, sweat sliding down her cheeks.
She pondered and decided to build a simple shelter nearby for the workers, providing them with a place to rest in the intense heat.
She had Zhao Zun call over dozens of workers, grab shovels, and come to clear the space. Han Lei promptly opened the computer in the system, searching for tutorials on building a color steel tile shelter.
A moment later, she decisively placed an order within the system, purchasing color steel tiles, steel pipes, and the necessary tools.
Seeing a sudden inexplicable pile of new and curious things appear on the ground, the workers were once again stunned.
"Hey, do you think the Princess Consort is a deity come down to earth?"
A young worker wiped the sweat off his forehead and whispered to his companion beside him.
"Isn’t she?"
"I wanted to say this earlier but didn’t dare to."
Another older worker put down his shovel, squinting at Han Lei, who was commanding the shelter construction in the distance.
"Look at the things she brought out; we’ve never seen them in our lifetime. And those tools, they’re so handy, far better than our old hoes."
"Yeah, yeah!"
A small, thin worker came closer, eyes full of admiration.
"Princess Consort is even personally teaching us how to build the shelter! Look at what she’s holding... what’s it called? A wrench? A change knife? Wow, it’s really something strange."
"Do you think the Princess Consort was sent from heaven to help us?"
The young worker scratched his head, his tone filled with a bit of reverence.
"Not only does she help us work, but she’s also thinking about setting up a shaded area for us. We’ve never seen such a Princess Consort before."
"Isn’t that the truth!" The older worker nodded, his eyes full of emotion, "The noble people we knew before never cared whether we lived or died. But the Princess Consort is different; she seems to truly care about us."
"Look, the Princess Consort is coming!"
The small, thin worker suddenly lowered his voice, pointing at Han Lei, who was walking over.
Han Lei was wearing a simple and elegant ancient long dress, its hem gently swaying in the wind, yet holding a modern lithium battery-powered small electric drill in her hand.
Her steps were light, with a faint smile on her face, seemingly unconcerned about how her attire clashed with the tool in her hand.
"You’ve all worked hard!" Han Lei came up to the workers, her voice soft and gentle, "Over there, they’re already building the shelter, so you go over and learn to help. Let’s hurry and finish it so everyone has a place to rest when tired."
The workers nodded one after another, eyes full of gratitude and respect.
Seeing Han Lei friendly, a worker dared to speak up.
"Princess Consort, you are truly wonderful! We’ve never met a noble like you before; they always treated us like beasts of burden."
Han Lei casually waved her hand, "No need to be so formal. We’re working together; it’s right to take care of each other."
"Princess Consort, those tools in your hand, we’ve never seen them before, where did you get them?" A small, thin worker couldn’t help but ask curiously.
Han Lei smiled mysteriously: "This is my secret weapon, specially used to help everyone."
Upon hearing this, the workers laughed, their eyes full of admiration and trust.
"Alright, let’s go over!" Han Lei waved the electric drill in her hand to signal everyone to follow, "I’ll show you how to do it, and you’ll be able to do it yourself in the future."
The workers responded in succession, following Han Lei, listening carefully to her instruction.
