Chapter 664: A Young Man's Feelings Are Always Poetic

“Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle…”

That night, Zhao Hong’s stomach growled loudly with hunger, so much so that even Wu Zehui next door couldn’t bear to hear it.

“Come on, Hong Jie, maybe we should just drop this!”

“Actually, Chen Ye did want to come back earlier, but things changed… he didn’t mean to!”

That’s how young people are, always prone to seeing things from the other person’s perspective.

That’s the very reason why sunshine-filled cheerful big boys are always so upbeat.

Always thinking everyone else has it rough.

Hearing this, Zhao Hong immediately flew into a rage.

Zhao Hong’s eyes widened as she glared daggers at Wu Zehui, cursing, “Xiao Wu, have you lost your damn mind?”

“Who exactly am I doing all this for?”

“That bastard Chu Che said one day and meant one day, pulling this word game on me!”

“Old lady here isn’t so easy to push around either!”

“You just watch, Old Lady—I’m going to eat it all back tomorrow!”

Though Zhao Hong was starving, her aura was fierce, and her eyes were bloodshot!

Right now, Zhao Hong had locked horns with Chu Che.

Wu Zehui wisely shut his mouth and turned to go back to sleep.

On the other side…

“Captain, how about we just let it go? We can’t outplay Chu Che and his crew!”

Number Three was a little girl, about the same age as Number Two, wearing a dress with a leather jacket on top that had a skull pattern on the back.

The little girl had a round face; while not stunning, she looked very calm, the type you could instantly tell was a good kid.

But there was always a glint of cleverness in her eyes.

Back in school, though she hadn’t been as dazzling as Number One, she had still been a popular beautiful girl on campus.

Number Two stiffened his neck and said, “No way! Since I’ve decided, I have to see it through!”

“Besides, Chu Che owes me this, and I’m getting it back!”

“Hmph, Chu Che—does he think he can brush me off that easily?”

As he finished speaking, Number Two’s stomach started growling.

Number Three looked at him with some pity. “But Captain, at this rate, you’re going to starve to death…”

Hearing that Number Three was looking down on him, Number Two got angry, gritted his teeth, and snorted coldly, “Hmph, you just watch! Tomorrow—I’ll get food in my mouth tomorrow for sure!”

Little Number Three sighed. “We can’t outplay the Fair Convoy; they’ve got three Sequence 4s…”

But Number Two wouldn’t listen to Number Three’s advice, just stubbornly sticking his neck out, looking incredibly defiant.

He was stubbornly upholding his toughness as captain.

“Number Three, I was your class monitor back then, and I’m your captain now—I have to take responsibility for you all!”

“Don’t worry, I won’t starve to death!”

Number Three sighed and said nothing more.

The superhumans of the Skeleton Convoy had originally been students from the Twenty-Fourth Middle School in Haidu City.

When the apocalypse first broke out, these students were trapped inside the school and couldn’t get out.

Back then, they were just starting high school.

Two years into the apocalypse, under normal circumstances, they would have been high school seniors.

They had waited at the school for a long time, hoping someone would come to rescue them.

Unfortunately, the world’s collapse far exceeded their imagination.

If Number One hadn’t awakened quickly as a superhuman of the Hunter Sequence,

They probably wouldn’t have made it to today.

Later, when the school’s supplies ran out, they had to leave and try to find a way out.

Their experience was the same as many other convoys.

Except they were all a bunch of teenagers.

The superhumans of the Skeleton Convoy were all classmates; even if not in the same class, they were at least schoolmates.

Having suddenly come from the ivory tower into this cannibalistic apocalypse, the teenagers were caught completely off guard.

Before the apocalypse, these kids only knew about studying, getting into a good university, and then finding a job.

They thought their lives would just play out that way.

But the sudden arrival of the apocalypse shattered their plans.

The teenagers didn’t know how sinister human hearts could be, and along the way, they suffered a lot.

Not only were they hunted by anomalies, but they were also tricked by other humans.

That they were still alive was entirely thanks to their large initial numbers.

When they first left school, there were several hundred students. Now, only a few of them were left.

Number One had been the school’s top student back then, consistently ranking first.

She was the one everyone looked up to, the pure moonlight in the hearts of the entire student body.

And she was the first to awaken!

Number Two had been the class monitor back then. Though his personality was timid, he gritted his teeth and shouldered a weight that no one his age should have had to bear.

The apocalypse treated everyone the same.

No matter who you used to be, in the apocalypse, everyone was prey for the anomalies.

Fortunately, Number Two had finally awakened not long ago.

These teenagers, who had suffered too much and seen too much of humanity’s evil,

Decided to make their convoy look a bit more intimidating.

So they used “Skeleton” as their convoy’s name.

They also started dressing in a bizarre, rebellious, and alternative style.

This kind of look did make some ill-intentioned people think twice.

At the same time, to keep everyone from being too sad, the teenagers sealed away their original names

And started calling each other by code names…

But at the same time, the teenagers also learned the harsh reality of the apocalypse: the strong rule.

The apocalypse had molded these teenagers to be smooth.

This was also why, when they had tried to rob the Fair Convoy before and discovered that the Fair Convoy’s strength far exceeded theirs, they had immediately and without hesitation backed down.

Fight if you can win, run if you can’t, and surrender if you can’t escape.

That was the survival rule for the apocalypse that these teenagers had summed up.

Of course, the first two rules applied to anomalies, and the third applied to humans.

“Captain, how about letting Number One go talk to Chen Ye?”

“She worked with Chen Ye and his group before, so she’ll probably have an easier time than us getting through to them,”

Number Three suggested.

Number Two turned to look at the lonely figure sitting in the distance by the sea, and for a moment, he was entranced.

Number One would always be Number One.

“Captain, hold it in—you’re drooling!”

Little Number Three said disdainfully.

Number Two wiped the corner of his mouth and then roared angrily, “Where’s the drool?”

Number Three pursed her lips and then sneered, “Captain, you’ve liked Number One for so long, and you’ve never dared to confess. Aren’t you being a bit too cowardly?”

Number Two sighed. “It’s not just me who likes her. She’s so outstanding; to us, she’s like a star in the sky, forever out of our reach!”

“Maybe just getting to look at her from afar like this is already good enough!”

“The burden she’s carrying… is already too much!”

Number Three got goosebumps all over from Number Two’s sudden burst of emotion.

“Eww… Captain, you’re so gross!”

Number Two flew into a rage. “What the hell do you know!”
