Chapter 793: Chapter 396: Ever Heard of the Insect Race? (2)
As their eyes met, the Flame Demon’s pupils contracted sharply. As the master of the Abyss’s first layer, he had heard of Baiyi’s name and had seen Baiyi’s likeness through various channels.
Seven days ago, the gods had fallen one after another, placing Baiyi on equal footing with them in the minds of those with the right to glimpse the Dawn.
The other Federations might rely on Divine Artifacts or the power of the Giant Statue to resist external invasions, but this was someone who had carved out a path through sheer force, undoubtedly of divine-level combat power.
"Shrink a bit, I don’t like looking up to an ant."
Baiyi’s calm voice rang out, causing the Flame Demon to shiver uncontrollably.
Although the Flame Demon race was driven by anger, their intelligence was still intact. This was why Baiyi hadn’t sought out some of the more reckless Forbidden Level ones but chose this not particularly remarkable Flame Demon among the Remaining Lords.
For a moment, the Flame Demon was at a loss. If someone could approach him without a sound, they could also eliminate him just as quietly, at the very least making him lose several trump cards unexpectedly.
Yet nothing had happened so far; the god-slaying presence before him seemed even to be angling for cooperation.
He couldn’t bring himself to rage nor to obey without a strange sense of unease.
"Hmm?"
A displeased sound jolted the Flame Demon back to his senses. He swallowed the Magma Core stored in his mouth, and his aura was instantly restored to its peak, even seemingly stronger.
He obediently reduced his size, intimidated but still exuding a bit of dominance, and asked, "Why are you looking for me?"
"To help you."
"Help me?"
Baiyi leaned back as the Mechanical Throne materialized automatically. In the eyes of the High-Tier Legendary, the densely packed mini-machines formed an ornate chair setting for their conversation.
"Sit down, or..."
Zheng~
A jet-black dagger emerged from the void, flitting around at will, unaffected by the solid space, and the few cuts it created rapidly absorbed the surrounding heat.
The Flame Demon’s pupils contracted sharply. A Divine Artifact... no, he sensed the aura of the rumored Calamity Object, yet it seemed somewhat suppressed compared to a Calamity Object.
Still, it was something that didn’t pique his interest to resist.
The Flame Demon quickly considered if he could use a trump card to escape.
He glanced at the dagger still slicing through space and then at those silent scarlet eyes.
Ultimately, reason tempered impulse, and he slowly settled onto the seat that felt fraught with danger.
Buzz~
As soon as he sat down, the mechanical seat quickly morphed to fit his body perfectly, offering an unprecedented comfort.
Baiyi’s eyes showed a hint of satisfaction as he took out two cups, placed some tea leaves in each, and poured hot water in to steep them.
Immediately, powerful magic power engulfed the volcano, and the flame elements kept growing active, forming bright little flames in the air.
The Flame Demon’s eyes brightened. He felt that this might greatly benefit him; drinking it could completely heal his injuries from battling the Fallen Angels.
"Your Excellency, may I ask what orders you might have for me?"
Swallowing, the Flame Demon asked in a hoarse voice.
"Simple. Although Dawn beat the gods, the pressure is still significant, so I’m seeking an ally."
Baiyi tapped the table, and a cup of tea moved steadily before the Flame Demon.
"An... ally? Me?" The Flame Demon’s voice faltered, and the unease inside him grew.
But sensing the Divine Artifact that made cuts in the void and looking at the earnest, somewhat nonsensical Divine Abomination before him, he dared not speak too much.
"No, not you, but the Abyss." Baiyi shook his head, sipping tea, and the surrounding magic concentration soared. This was good tea, using Epic Level Earth Spirit Spring Water.
"The Abyss? Your Excellency, perhaps you overestimate me. I cannot represent..."
"Drink the tea."
The Flame Demon paused, gazing at the enticing tea in the cup, suppressing the slight discomfort of being interrupted, then picked up the cup that seemed small for his two-meter frame and downed it in one go.
Powerful magic power coursed through his body, and the external comfort and intense magic power in the tea quickly dispelled his minor discomfort.
"How does it feel?"
Baiyi smiled slightly.
"Great..." The Flame Demon began to say, suddenly feeling something was amiss. The comfort magnified, and a special entity started forming inside him, amplifying his growing unease: "Drink?"
"You..."
In the Flame Demon’s perception, the tea leaves he drank quickly coalesced, forming a slightly yellow book in his consciousness. This book began flipping slowly, and each page seemed to contain content, with some familiar things to him.
One was a horn carved with flame symbols, his trademark.
"Contract beverage, it’s my first time making one, but it truly is something good," Baiyi said with a smile, taking out another cup and filling it with fine wine.
Instantly, the surrounding magic concentration soared again. Flame elements clustered madly, forming little elves trying to ignite the liquid in the cup but dared not approach because of Baiyi’s presence.
"This ten-thousand-year Epic Spirit Liquor will serve as a gift for our cooperation."
The wine cup swiftly slid to the Flame Demon’s front.
Observing a similar scene, his fear and caution evaporated, and he looked at Baiyi with expressionless scarlet eyes, "Your Excellency, you must understand, between becoming a slave and death, no Flame Demon would choose the former."
Baiyi conceded with a smile, "I know. So, the contract you signed has no absolute effect. I merely want our cooperation to have fewer unexpected incidents. After my tasks are complete, the contract will convert into an equal partnership, granting you the rights you deserve as a collaborator."
The Flame Demon closed his eyes briefly, and the surrounding temperature rose rapidly. He restrained himself to ask, "Your Excellency, what do you need me to do?"
"Simple, I’m here to assist you." Baiyi took a sip of wine and spoke gently:
"As I mentioned, even though Dawn defeated the gods, the pressure remains immense. If Hell occupied this area, using the Underworld as a springboard, Dawn’s burden will only worsen."
"Therefore, I came to resolve matters in advance, like... helping my friends ascend to the Forbidden Level and take control of this World."
The Flame Demon’s pupils shrunk, and he asked with a frown, "Why should I believe you?"
Baiyi raised his cup, "Do you even have other choices?"
The Flame Demon fell silent, pondering briefly before picking up the cup and downing its contents in one gulp, "What do I need to do?"
Baiyi set the cup aside, a bright blue crystal appearing in his hand. He tossed it into his mouth and smiled at the Flame Demon, "Have you heard of the Insect Race?"
The Flame Demon didn’t quite catch Baiyi’s words initially; he stared intently at the item Baiyi held. He suddenly recalled that the tea had caused problems, and wondered if the wine would entrap him further?
Why else would he eat that thing immediately after drinking?
The wine is poisoned?
Is that an antidote?
Baiyi seemed to catch the meaning in the Flame Demon’s eyes and casually tossed a bright blue crystal over, "Want to eat it?"
The Flame Demon caught the crystal, inspecting it and then Baiyi, hesitating. Could it be that he was mistaken?
Baiyi watched him with a smile, and as the Flame Demon swallowed the blue crystal, his smile grew even warmer.
Nearly a thousand types of highly poisonous substances for flavoring, aided by a unique neurotoxin, capable of making this guy more compliant.
That crystal was the main toxin.
Indeed, these creatures are brainy but not exceptionally so.
If it were a Hell creature, they would never consume anything from an Alchemist.
Relaxing, Baiyi asked once more, "Heard of the Insect Race?"
"I have," the Flame Demon responded almost reflexively.
Baiyi nodded, "Then it’s easier. I’ve researched the Abyss’s system. Go and help me catch some Golden Level Abyssal Worms. Also, contact the true form of the Abyss Lord from this World. Let’s first drive Hell out..."
