Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce

Chapter 407 - 410: Six-Month-Old Parent-Child Photo

  • Next Chapter

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, Owen and Nina were six months old.

At six months, the babies could not only roll over but had also learned to sit up. Wren Sutton suggested they get a family photoshoot done as a memento.

Adrian Lancaster had no objections. He would follow his dear wife’s lead completely.

The next morning, the couple took their children to the largest and most luxurious family photography studio in Aston.

The staff greeted them warmly and professionally, patiently explaining the various photo album packages.

Adrian Lancaster left the decision to Wren Sutton. His job was to pay and cooperate for the pictures.

"Honey, you decide. Whichever one you think is best, we’ll go with that. The kids and I will cooperate fully."

Wren Sutton smiled knowingly. Without taking too long, she quickly selected a package.

With the staff’s help, the family of four changed into their first set of simple, soft, matching loungewear, and the shoot officially began.

The photographer had planned a series of neat, standard poses, but Owen and Nina were not very cooperative. All sorts of things went wrong, completely disrupting the flow, but it led to many sweet and funny little moments instead.

First, there was Owen. He was usually a sweet and adorable baby, but he became unusually serious in front of the camera.

No matter how the assistant tried to coax him with toys, he kept a straight face. His grape-like black eyes stared intently at the lens without a hint of a smile, looking as composed as a little adult.

Nina was the exact opposite. The little girl was lively and restless, her little arms and legs constantly wiggling.

One moment she was reaching for the tulle backdrop beside her, the next she was turning to tug on her brother’s little clothes, having the time of her life.

Just as the photographer got her in focus, she would turn away, making it impossible to get a steady shot.

Watching her two little ones’ completely different reactions, Wren couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Sweetie, come here. Let Mommy hold you."

She bent down to pick up her daughter, but Nina suddenly reached out, grabbed a handful of her mom’s hair, and clenched it tightly in her fist, babbling mischievously and cutely.

Seeing this, Adrian quickly stepped forward. He gently pried open his daughter’s little fingers to help Wren untangle her hair.

He cooed at his daughter in a low voice, his tone both doting and firm.

"You little rascal, you can’t pull Mommy’s hair. It hurts her."

Nina seemed to understand. She blinked and proactively reached out to Wren, asking to be held.

Wren’s heart melted. She reached out and gathered her daughter into her arms.

The next second, she felt her daughter give her a real kiss on the cheek.

The photographer happened to capture this very moment.

There was no deliberate posing; it was a completely genuine display of a child’s love for her mother, both real and touching.

The photographer was inspired. He asked Adrian to pick up Owen and told him not to worry about posing—just hold him like he normally would at home.

Adrian gave a calm "Mm," and cooperatively picked up his son.

Usually, Owen was quiet in his father’s arms, but today was different. He stared at the button on his dad’s chest, grabbed it, and started playing with it, twisting it around and around, completely ignoring the camera.

"..." Adrian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The photographer watched the father and son’s flustered but exceptionally sweet interaction and quickly snapped away.

"These two little cuties have big personalities. Posed shots aren’t going to work for them."

"In that case, let’s just forget about deliberate poses. You all just interact naturally. It doesn’t matter if you look at the camera or not."

"The way a family is together looks better than any pose."

Those few words were a wake-up call for Wren and Adrian.

The point of the photoshoot was to commemorate this special day, not to shoot a magazine cover.

The more ordinary and natural it was, just like at home, the better the results would be.

The couple looked at each other and smiled, each holding a child. The happy family of four was the most beautiful picture of all.

Once they stopped trying to pose for the camera, Owen and Nina actually relaxed.

Hearing her parents’ voices, Nina slowly lifted her head, opened her toothless little mouth, and giggled, her eyes curving into little crescent moons.

Owen leaned against his father, his little hand grasping his mother’s finger, occasionally turning to look at his dad and babble to him.

Sunlight streamed through the studio’s floor-to-ceiling windows, falling upon the family of four.

The photographer continuously pressed the shutter, freezing countless natural and precious moments in time.

Adrian lowered his head to kiss the two children while Wren leaned against his shoulder with a smile.

The couple, each holding a child, touched foreheads.

Owen and Nina sat side by side on a mat, holding each other’s little hands, looking utterly adorable.

During the outfit changes, Adrian never left their side.

When Wren changed the children’s clothes, he was right there helping.

When the children got fussy and threw tantrums, he patiently soothed them.

The staff saw it all and envied this happy little family.

Toward the end of the shoot, Owen and Nina started to get sleepy. Their little eyelids began to droop as they snuggled against their parents, drowsing off.

The family sat quietly on a soft sofa. There were no superfluous movements, only the peaceful security of being together. The scene, serene and heartwarming, was perfectly captured by the photographer.

By the time the photoshoot was completely finished, it was almost dark.

After a long and busy day, Owen and Nina were exhausted and had fallen asleep.

The nanny who had come with them stepped forward and carefully carried the children to the VIP lounge. Wren gave a few instructions, still feeling a bit worried, before leaving.

She went with Adrian to the computer to select the photos.

A staff member opened the album, and one heartwarming picture after another filled the screen.

There were no stiff, deliberate poses—just the family’s most authentic interactions.

Owen’s serious expression on his little face, Nina’s mischievous liveliness, the way Adrian gently held the children, the moment Wren smiled softly and leaned down to dote on the babies...

Wren loved every single picture and couldn’t bear to delete any.

"Let’s keep them all. Don’t delete a single one. I want all of them."

Adrian squeezed his wife’s hand. "Mm, we’ll take all the photos from today."

Just as he was immersed in this happy moment of family togetherness, some blurry, fragmented images flashed through the depths of his mind.

There was no clear scene, but there was the sensation of a car suddenly spinning out of control, the harsh, piercing screech of brakes, and the abrupt feeling of weightlessness and impact.

Adrian had always deliberately suppressed these fragmented memories, never proactively asking anyone about the details of the car accident.

Perhaps coincidences happen in the world, but a strong intuition constantly lingered in his mind.

That sudden car accident was too strange. It didn’t seem like a simple accident, as it appeared on the surface.

Instead, it felt more like someone had been lurking in the shadows, meticulously planning it step by step for a long time.

Adrian’s gaze subtly darkened. Though his expression remained gentle as he looked at the photos with Wren, his heart was not so calm.

The more wonderful the blissful family reunion before him felt, the more terrified he was when he recalled the car accident.

If that scheme had succeeded back then, he would have lost everything—his wife, his children, his family, this complete and happy home.

Adrian had kept his silence all this time not because he was oblivious, but because he felt the time wasn’t right. More importantly, he couldn’t bear to let Wren relive the pain of that nightmare.

Now, gazing at the sweet image of his family of four on the screen, the conviction hidden deep in Adrian’s heart grew clearer and more resolute.

’I have to find the mastermind who almost destroyed my happy life. I can’t let them stay hidden, lying in wait. Failing to pull a weed by its roots only invites endless trouble.’
