Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 432 - 430: You Must Look After Yourself Before You Can Look After Others

’So she really did find two people to send over.’

"If you don’t like them, can’t you just tell your mother to send them back where they came from?"

Yvonne Lynch sighed. "I... If I said that, my mom would send them away, but then things would be terrible for the two of them."

It had to be said, Yvonne Lynch was a very kind-hearted girl. If not for her kindness, she probably wouldn’t have awakened a Healing Ability.

"But you can’t just keep putting yourself out. And whether things would be ’terrible’ for them is just their side of the story, isn’t it?"

Seeing her nod, Faye Yardley continued, "Since they’re the ones who don’t want to lose the opportunity to stay with you, why aren’t they the ones making changes? Why should you have to adapt to them instead? What kind of logic is that? If you want to get something, you have to work for it. Don’t be too soft-hearted. Be careful they don’t take a mile when you give them an inch, leaving you feeling miserable."

"Is that really okay?"

"Yvonne Lynch, you have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of others," Faye Yardley said seriously. "You should distance yourself from anyone and anything that makes you unhappy. If you’ve already told them and they still refuse to change, then just respect their fate."

"I understand. Thank you, big sis, I know what to do now." Yvonne Lynch looked at her. "Is there a new event going on over there? Let me come over and help."

Seeing how eager she was to come over, Faye Yardley refused outright. "We’re just cleaning up trash over here. The air even smells different. It’s not that dangerous, so you should solve your own problems first."

After hanging up, Faye Yardley prepared to practice a set of boxing forms. But before she could finish, trash started appearing from all directions again.

Nothing to be said. Time to get back to work.

Her points were shooting up, but Faye Yardley noticed that even though Jay Jonas, Logan Langdon, and even her own brother were starting to chase her frantically, there was still a considerable gap between them.

It couldn’t be helped. They were all leaders of large guilds. Even without small-account collection boats, they had plenty of people to help.

Still, if they wanted to catch up to her, they’d have to keep ramping up their efforts.

You could say their cat-and-mouse game was more like a competition between guilds.

Today was the second day of the event. Not only was there more trash than the day before, but Sea Monsters had also started to appear during the day, even attacking the rafts from beneath the surface.

This left many people feeling frantic and completely overwhelmed.

If a raft was completely submerged in trash, the damage it sustained was actually no less than an attack from a Sea Monster from below.

Now, there was hardly anyone talking on the national channel. Everyone was too busy to even complain. Daring to glance at the channel for even a second was a sign of disrespect for your own life.

Compared to the frantic chaos most people were experiencing, Faye Yardley was far too relaxed.

Not only was the trash completely unable to get within a five-meter radius of her raft, but her five automated collection boats had also ventured far out to clear trash and rack up enough points.

PLOP~

Eamon jumped into the sea and landed right on a Sea Monster. As he waved his weapon and yelled incomprehensibly, the Sea Monster was not only knocked unconscious but also had its head pierced through by his weapon. It was dead as a doornail.

It had to be said, after eating the red apricot, his temporary Luck Value had increased by quite a bit.

When he came to his senses and realized what had happened, his confidence surged. Thinking that the two-hour luck bonus couldn’t be wasted, he dove into the sea and went on a crazy killing spree.

During this time, he always managed to miraculously avoid all the Sea Monsters’ fatal attacks while inflicting heavy damage on them in return.

Marveling at the extraordinary thrill the red apricot gave him, he started paying even more attention to the plants in the planting room.

From time to time, in between frantically sweeping up trash, Bramble would also look out for Eamon, who was clearly lacking in combat power.

Like Eamon, Faye Yardley was also in the sea, hunting the Sea Monsters that popped up, trying to sneak close and attack the raft.

The daytime Sea Monsters were already a little stronger than the ones that appeared after dark. It was likely that as the event continued, the Sea Monsters’ attack power would increase even more.

The speed at which the trash surged forward was also quietly increasing.

During the event, aside from the Sea Monsters, even the seaweed and schools of small fish had vanished from the sea.

Even those who managed to both salvage trash and kill Sea Monsters were completely unable to fish up any treasure chests or seafood during this event.

Of course, most people on their rafts were already struggling to save themselves, let alone fish for treasure chests. They couldn’t even find the time to grab a bite to eat.

At 12:00 PM sharp, no new batches of trash appeared, aside from what was already in the sea. It seemed the system had given everyone a break.

Many people collapsed from exhaustion on their rafts. With no more trash surging in, they lay there for a few minutes before forcing themselves up through sheer willpower to clear away all the visible garbage around them.

Those who had family, were lucky, or had merged their rafts with others had some help. The ones who were completely alone had it the hardest.

Faye Yardley absolutely devoured the lunch that Willow Yardley had carefully prepared.

After quickly eating and drinking her fill, Faye Yardley didn’t rest. Instead, she jumped back into the sea.

She had just remembered: the trash might stop spawning, but that didn’t necessarily mean the Sea Monsters would.

’They might even send a huge wave of them.’ She decided to go and test her theory.

She had always been a woman of action, so she immediately did what she had thought of.

She went under the raft and swam deep, and sure enough, she saw Sea Monsters that were even larger than the ones she had killed before.

When enemies meet, they fight. There’s no need for pointless talk.

Not that they could communicate even if they tried.

Even though Faye Yardley had eaten the Chirpy-Chatter Lollipop, it only allowed her to communicate with civilized and intelligent Otherkin. Mindless Sea Monsters that only knew how to kill were not included.

The deep-sea Sea Monsters weren’t just enormous; their attack power also increased severalfold with their size.

However, the larger the Sea Monsters, the less likely they were to gather in groups. If they did, they would just end up killing each other first.

The moment Faye Yardley appeared, they charged ferociously toward her.

...

On the points leaderboard, aside from first place, the rankings below were constantly changing.

Ethan Yardley watched his sister’s name firmly occupy the number one spot, feeling both proud and ashamed.

During a rare break, he quickly replenished his stamina, then checked the points and raft status of each member in his guild.

’A guild isn’t strong just because its leader is.’

He’d been thinking about helping his sister, but it now seemed that his own ability to consistently rank between second and fifth place was all thanks to her sponsorship.

"Those with minor injuries, go get bandaged up and stop the bleeding! The seriously injured, get them to the base hospital! No one is allowed to push themselves! Everyone else, take turns eating and resting."

After a fierce battle, she killed the enormous Sea Monster, and the system’s reward arrived.

[Points +1000]

Faye Yardley’s eyes instantly lit up.
