Chapter 401 - 399: Why Are You Playing with a Handgun So Late at Night

"Okay, Willow, that’s enough. Thorne will arrange for people to come to the docks tomorrow to pick up the poultry and livestock. Get ready. Aside from what we absolutely need to keep, give the rest to them. Also, have them take all the ordinary fish and shrimp from the warehouse."

"Okay."

Faye Yardley thought about the last item the secretary had given her and took out the bag. Inside was a handgun. The gun was clearly not made of ordinary material, and the bullets were also specially made from the same substance.

She picked up the instruction manual. It was made from a combination of Spider Egg Ore and an ordinary ore they had discovered on the island.

The manual also said the gun had a special effect. When it hit a beast, the creature wouldn’t die immediately but would let out a wail as if its very soul was in pain.

They had succeeded in their research, but because Spider Egg Ore was so scarce, they had only managed to make this one gun. They hoped she could provide more.

They also mentioned they hadn’t told Wyatt Thorne about this invention yet. As for what to do with it, they would follow her arrangements.

Currently, the only people on the entire island who could contact the outside world were Franklin Yardley, Shawn Lawler, and Laura Summers. However, even Wyatt Thorne wouldn’t trust the latter two, making it impossible to use them for communication, let alone Marlin and the others.

Another reason was the scarcity of the Spider Egg Ore. Since she was the one who provided it and they didn’t know its source, they figured announcing the discovery might displease her. It was better to leave it to her to handle. By earning her goodwill, they might have a better chance of getting other research materials more quickly.

Furthermore, Faye Yardley herself was already in a cooperative relationship with Veridia’s officials. Otherwise, these people wouldn’t have been allowed on her island in the first place.

Faye Yardley could understand their reasoning, but she was still happy that they had shown the finished product to her first instead of reporting it to the officials.

’In the end, I’m just an ordinary person at heart.’

Looking at the gun and bullets in her hand, Faye Yardley had a nascent theory: maybe the thing they had created could directly attack the soul.

On the island, the only way to contact the outside world was through All World Communication, so she called her brother directly.

’Still, she’s my sister, and I can’t help but worry. Zephyr Sterling is only five years older than her, he’s handsome, and he has a good personality. She won’t get attracted to him, will she?’

’Then again, there are guys like Zachary Pierce and Tiberius, who are all outstanding, and my sister has never shown any interest in them. One Zephyr Sterling probably won’t be any different.’

’After all, with such an outstanding brother like me, her standards are naturally high.’

Faye Yardley had no idea what was going through her brother’s head on the other end of the video call.

"Why are you calling them over to your place in the middle of the night?"

"To have them visit my island for a bit. Oh, right, another thing—does Logan Langdon know that Kyle Lewis is with you? I want to buy some ore from his island, so I need to know beforehand. I don’t want to let it slip."

"He probably doesn’t know. I haven’t hidden it, though. After he arrived, he went straight to the guild’s headquarters and is staying at our place. I gave him a Skill Book you acquired from Lumina, and he seems completely engrossed in it." Ethan Yardley continued, "Logan Langdon is a very shrewd guy. I’ll go buy the ore from his island for you."

"No need. If his price is too outrageous, I just won’t buy it. He has over a hundred thousand people mining for him. Do you think he doesn’t want to turn that ore into money?"

’Logan Langdon was so generous in giving me ore before; he must have had the intention of selling it to me all along.’

Faye Yardley said with a smile, "I actually think he’s the one who doesn’t want Miss Leah to know that Kyle is with you."

Since the matter was quite urgent, Ethan Yardley checked if Zephyr Sterling was free while still chatting with his sister. When he learned they were available and willing to go to her place, he told Faye Yardley.

After hanging up, Faye Yardley sent two Invitation Cards.

Soon, Master Veridian and Zephyr Sterling appeared on the raft.

Faye Yardley didn’t waste any time. She took out the handgun and bullets and explained their effects. As for testing it, that was simple—they could use one of the adult pigs in the breeding room. Once killed, it would make a nice extra meal for the islanders tomorrow.

Then she told Master Veridian her theory. "Master, do you think these bullets might be effective against ghosts and monsters?"

"It’s highly possible," Master Veridian said, very excited. "Let’s test it quickly. It would be even better if we could kill a ghost with it. But I have ways to test it out, too."

Faye Yardley was just as eager as he was.

Meanwhile, Zephyr Sterling stood to the side, holding a bullet and using his superpower to sense the energy within it.

The bullets weren’t easy to make, and they only had a few to begin with, so even though Master Veridian wanted to run more tests, he restrained himself.

Faye Yardley, on the other hand, was thinking about the possibility of testing it out in a Dungeon. Of course, before entering a Dungeon, she would have to trade with either Logan Langdon or Zachary Pierce first.

The fastest way would be to get a small amount of ore from Zachary Pierce to make a batch of bullets.

She had always been a person of action.

With her enhanced physical constitution, going several days and nights without sleep was no issue. She called Zachary Pierce directly. As expected, he was busy and hadn’t been resting.

When he heard she wanted Spider Egg Ore, he agreed without a second thought to give her 50 pieces first.

So, Faye Yardley invited Finn Ford, their dedicated delivery person.

Finn Ford was very efficient. When he arrived, he didn’t waste words, simply taking a box out of his backpack. "Yardley, Pierce said to bring this to you."

Faye Yardley looked at him and got the feeling that if she didn’t have anything else for him, he would leave immediately.

Thinking she really didn’t have anything else, she asked, "Are you guys still running Dungeon No. 3?"

Finn Ford’s eyes lit up. "Yardley, are you going? We’re still running it. As long as we have Invitation Cards, we go."

What they lacked now were Invitation Cards, not people to run the Dungeons.

But running a Dungeon with Faye Yardley... that was a completely different feeling.
