Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts
Chapter 389 - 387: Dotes On Me More Than You
She wasn’t sure what was happening with Henry Lewis, but he had also taken to wearing sunglasses, and very few people could see his eyes through them.
The truth was, once the tree eyes were installed, they looked almost identical to real eyes. An ordinary person would never be able to tell the difference.
That’s why when Faye Yardley got word from Gavin Donovan that Zephyr Sterling’s junior brother now always wore glasses for calls, it gave her the mistaken impression that his petrifying gaze was getting stronger.
’Could my guess be true?’
’If it’s true, then didn’t Henry Lewis make out like a bandit? And Henry Lewis is still one of Logan Langdon’s men...’
’Ugh, just thinking about it makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off.’
[Dear Player, you have received an invitation from Zephyr Sterling. Will you accept?]
Faye Yardley stared in surprise at the message that had suddenly popped up. It was already late at night, and Zephyr Sterling wasn’t the type of person to casually invite someone over without giving them a heads-up.
Just as she was about to select "Yes," another message came in.
Master Veridian: Yardley, don’t come over. My good-for-nothing second disciple and his arrogant, insufferable dog of a master are here with us.
Faye burst out laughing.
Sometimes, Faye Yardley really thought Master Veridian was a fascinating character.
He had such an elegant way of insulting his own disciple.
’Besides, I was just thinking about the issue with Henry Lewis’s eyes. Now I’m about to see him in person... I’m actually a little excited.’
She quickly grabbed a few items from her storage, tossed them in her backpack, and accepted the invitation.
When she arrived on Zephyr Sterling’s raft, Faye Yardley noticed the hailstones weren’t crashing down directly. Instead, much like with her own Energy Protection Shield, they were being stopped by a translucent barrier hovering just above the raft. The hailstones would then skitter off the edges and fall onto the sea ice below.
"My apologies, Island Master Langdon. My guest has arrived."
Zephyr Sterling spoke without paying any mind to Logan Langdon’s sour look. He stood up, went to open the door, and his voice softened. "Yardley, you’re here. I found the item. It’s not something I could send as a Gift, so I had to ask you to come in person."
Faye Yardley was inwardly surprised, but remembering that Henry Lewis and Logan Langdon were inside, she put on a delighted tone. "Really? Thank you, Zephyr! You went to so much trouble for me."
Stepping inside, she saw the two men sitting in the living room, just as she’d expected. Curiously, Master Veridian was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh, Zephyr, you have guests." Faye Yardley then turned to greet the others. "Mr. Langdon, Mr. Lewis. It’s you. My, Mr. Lewis, what happened to your eyes? Why are you wearing sunglasses indoors this late at night?"
Logan Langdon shot Zephyr Sterling a displeased look before putting on a smile. "I didn’t expect to see Gorgeous Yardley here as well. It seems you and Mr. Sterling are quite close."
"Of course we are." As she spoke, Faye Yardley stepped forward and took Zephyr Sterling’s arm, clearly feeling him tense up. "He’s my brother from another mother!"
Zephyr Sterling turned to look at Faye Yardley with a helpless expression. "Stop messing around."
The sight of their intimacy instantly provoked Logan Langdon. One was the woman he wanted to conquer, the other was the man he wanted to recruit, and yet...
He didn’t let a hint of his thoughts show, maintaining a polite smile. "Is that so? Gorgeous Yardley probably doesn’t know what Mr. Sterling has, does she? How about you just give it to me instead?"
Faye Yardley didn’t let go of Zephyr Sterling’s arm. Instead, she started laying it on thick right in front of them. "Oh, Zephyr... hurry up and give it to me, won’t you? Pleeease, my dearest brother~"
Zephyr Sterling’s face instantly flushed red. "Can you please act normal? Come with me... to my room."
"Of course, of course!" Faye Yardley peeked out from behind Zephyr Sterling to address Logan Langdon. "So sorry, Mr. Langdon. If it’s mine, I have no intention of giving it up."
’Are they so close that they can just go into each other’s rooms without a second thought?’
For a moment, Logan Langdon’s face darkened.
Henry Lewis noticed, and his gaze shifted to the pair standing together. To be honest, he felt his senior brother was certainly handsome enough for Faye Yardley. And while Logan Langdon was his current guild leader, when it came to personal feelings, he was naturally biased toward Zephyr Sterling, whom he had grown up with.
Still, seeing them together like this stirred a strange sense of unease within him.
But he had to say what needed to be said; right now, he was more invested in Logan Langdon’s success. "Senior Brother, Island Master Yardley, is it really appropriate to leave us hanging here while you two head off to a room?"
Faye Yardley chuckled. "What’s this, Mr. Lewis? Are you jealous of how close we are? Well, there’s nothing to be done about it. My dear Zephyr dotes on me more than you now, you know."
Then she squeezed Zephyr Sterling’s arm. "Zephyr, where’s the Master? Where did he go?"
Zephyr Sterling glanced at Faye Yardley, then turned to Logan Langdon and Henry Lewis. "My apologies, Mr. Langdon. I can’t sell it to you. I prepared this specifically for Yardley."
With that, he took Faye Yardley’s hand and led her toward the room.
Logan Langdon’s expression was so dark it looked like ink might drip from it.
Faye Yardley didn’t forget to toss one last provocation over her shoulder. "Sorry about that, Mr. Langdon, but I don’t like to give my things away, either."
"Is it even yours?" Henry Lewis retorted indignantly.
"Zephyr said it’s mine, so it is!"
The words had barely left her mouth before she was pulled into the room, and the door slammed shut with a BANG.
Faye Yardley sheepishly let go of his arm. Zephyr Sterling patted her head. "Don’t be so mischievous next time. That Mr. Langdon doesn’t look like an easy person to deal with. Now, what I wanted to give you is in that ice box on the table. It’s an Ice Wyrm."
"Why are they on your raft?"
Faye Yardley asked casually as she walked over to the table, her eyes fixed on the ice box. She didn’t touch it. Inside the transparent container was a fat, thumb-sized worm, exceptionally smooth and iridescent.
"What do they want this for?"
"My junior brother invited me to a Frostdrift earlier. I found and acquired this myself, so you can take it without any issue. If you want to know what it’s used for, try touching the ice box."
Faye Yardley glanced at Zephyr Sterling and, choosing to trust him, reached out. The instant her fingertip made contact with the box, the system provided an answer.
[Centennial Ice Marrow Worm: A favorite of females with Ice and Shadow attributes. Eating it will make your skin fair and delicate, and there is a chance it will awaken your Ice Attribute!]
"Only women can eat it?"
Zephyr Sterling shook his head. "I don’t think so. It’s just that its attributes don’t match mine or our Master’s. That’s why you’re the most suitable person for it."
The vast majority of women are born with a natural Shadow attribute Constitution.
"Was this the only one on that entire Frostdrift?"
Zephyr Sterling shook his head again. "Certainly not. But since they saw me get it, they naturally want it. From what I can tell, Mr. Langdon’s Constitution has a trace of the Ice Attribute. He probably wants to use this to fully awaken it. One might not be enough, so getting a few more would be a safer bet—that’s likely what they’re thinking right now."
"Oh, I see. Thanks, Zephyr. In that case, I won’t be polite. I’ll take it."
"Take it and go. They won’t go so far as to have a complete falling out with me over a single worm."
