Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts
Chapter 332: The Tiny Brother Runs and Jumps
Quinn Wynn shook her head. "No, he’s a yellow-named merchant, so he can’t enter the city. He won’t even come near the city gates. But he has a lot of strange and useful items. Aren’t you the least bit tempted?"
"Why come to me?"
"Huh?"
Faye Yardley asked again, "If he’s that kind of merchant, a lot of people should be interested. Why did you seek me out?"
Quinn Wynn looked reluctant, but she still said, "Because I don’t know many people I’m on friendly terms with. And more importantly, you have money."
Faye Yardley shrugged. "I’m curious about this traveling merchant you mentioned, but I can’t leave Lumina to go on an adventure. Like you said, I have money. And when you have money, you don’t need to take risks yourself, right? You should have heard the saying, ’A wise man doesn’t stand under a crumbling wall.’"
Quinn Wynn wanted to say she’d never heard it, but she understood the meaning.
Finally, steeling herself and deciding to swallow her pride, she said, "Then can I borrow some money from you? I’ll pay it back. With interest."
Faye Yardley pointed at herself, baffled. "Do I look like an easy-to-fool idiot? If you take the money and run, where am I supposed to find you?"
"I... I can use my credit..."
Faye Yardley gave her a look like she was an idiot. "Is your credit worth that much? Then why don’t you just use your credit to get a loan from the City Lord of Lumina?"
Quinn Wynn knew it was impossible to get something for nothing. After some thought, she said, "Then let’s go back to your shop. I can use something as collateral. I can’t take it out here."
"Fine. Follow me."
Back at the shop, a large crowd was still gathered outside. Seeing Faye Yardley return, many people greeted her, asking when she would open for business.
Faye Yardley led Quinn Wynn directly into the shop without answering them.
"Sit wherever. Yiyi, bring us a pot of Flower Tea."
With all the furniture and decor acting as partitions, the reception area inside was not visible to the people outside the shop.
Quinn Wynn subconsciously glanced outside. She couldn’t even see the people out there clearly, which put her mind at ease.
So, she didn’t waste any time and took out a scroll. "How’s this for collateral?"
[Inheritance Scroll: Frequently observing this scroll may allow one to receive an inheritance.]
The information provided by the system was vague, but that only proved the scroll’s extraordinary nature. At the very least, it meant she could take it back to sea with her.
On the surface, however, Faye Yardley maintained a nonchalant expression. "Just this? If it were really useful, wouldn’t you have used it yourself by now?"
Quinn Wynn was a bit unsure how to respond. "It’s definitely useful! There’s certainly a great opportunity inside, I just don’t know how to activate it yet."
Faye Yardley wore an expression that clearly said, ’You really expect me to believe that?’
"Using a scroll you don’t even know the purpose of as collateral is a bit..." Seeing Quinn Wynn’s expression sour, Faye Yardley cut to the chase. "Why don’t you consider selling it to me directly? That way, I won’t have to worry about how to get my money back."
"Hmph. You just want it for yourself."
Faye Yardley spread her hands. "Whatever. I don’t really need it."
Quinn Wynn: ...
In the end, Quinn Wynn still sold it for 20 gold coins.
Both parties were actually satisfied with the transaction. After all, Quinn Wynn had obtained the scroll from a quest right after starting the game, but no matter how much time she spent looking at it, it had no effect whatsoever.
She felt it was a good deal to trade it for 20 gold coins to use as start-up capital.
’Even if the scroll holds some earth-shattering secret, what’s the use if I can’t get it?’
’Exchanging a scroll of unknown use for her own early-stage development wasn’t a loss.’
With nothing more to do there, Faye Yardley saw Quinn Wynn out and then returned to the second floor, where she used a portal to teleport back to her raft.
The weather outside was nice, with the temperature even a little on the high side.
"Sister, you’re back! Time for lunch? It’s exactly noon."
"Mmm. Let’s prepare lunch."
Faye Yardley thought for a moment and invited her brother over.
"Faye, why’d you call me over at a time like this? Huh, outside... this is your island? It looks so different."
Ethan Yardley looked through the open balcony doors and saw lush green mountains and a very tidy dock.
"I called you over for lunch. How’s the development of your outpost coming along?"
"Very well, especially with the two systems you helped provide. They’ve made life much more convenient for everyone there. By the way, are they selling All-World Communication Phones in Lumina? If so, buy a couple for me. I plan to install them in the outpost’s office."
Faye Yardley really wanted to roll her eyes. "Once the outpost has a signal, you can already contact each other directly through the friends interface or the guild interface."
"But what if I’m somewhere else and can’t be contacted? Good sister, if you get the chance, please get one for me."
"Mmm. Alright. I’ll bring you one when I get the chance."
As she spoke, Faye Yardley took out the Inheritance Scroll and hung it up in the living room. "Bro, take a good look at this."
"What am I supposed to be looking at—whoa! This..." Ethan Yardley had been a little dismissive at first, but with just one glance, his entire consciousness was captivated by the Inheritance Scroll.
Then, Faye Yardley watched, wide-eyed, as her brother was sucked into the scroll.
Blinking in confusion, she murmured, ’So my brother’s the real chosen one, huh? I get this thing and can’t figure out what it does, but he takes one casual glance and triggers the event? Are you kidding me?’
Faye Yardley stared at the Inheritance Scroll and discovered that her brother had turned into a tiny figure running through the mountains inside it.
Er...
’Watching it is actually pretty magical.’
Faye Yardley reached out and poked the little moving figure, but he didn’t seem to feel anything.
"Sister, where’s Brother? I thought I heard his voice just now." Willow Yardley ran over and glanced around, looking a little confused.
Faye Yardley pointed at the scroll on the wall. "You heard right. He’s in there. Let’s bring the food in here later."
Saying that, Faye Yardley took a small wooden table and two chairs from her storage, then sat down directly facing the scroll.
Even though she knew it was a great opportunity for him, Faye Yardley was still afraid something might happen to her brother inside. Watching wouldn’t help, but not watching would only make her more worried.
Time passed. Faye Yardley finished her lunch, but the tiny figure of her brother in the scroll was still running and jumping around, touching this and poking that. Faye was getting tired just from watching.
"Sister, why don’t you go get some rest? I’ll watch Brother for you."
Faye Yardley got up and walked over to the scroll. "Why is he still running in circles in that one spot? Did he run into an invisible wall or something?"
Willow Yardley also walked over to take a closer look. "Maybe that’s the place of inheritance."
