Chapter 96: Chapter 48: Saga’s Ascension, Aiolia’s Fury! (Part 2)
"Go prepare, Saga... Just as we agreed, remember to stay true to your heart!"
"Hmph, worry about yourself first. Even if you get swayed by Athena, I never will!" Saga sneered.
The reason Alex chose Saga to sit on the Pope’s throne was because Saga possessed a dual personality. As long as the dark Saga existed, Athena could never completely control him.
Saga draped the papal robes over his shoulders, his long hair slowly turning pitch black. He then picked up the golden papal helmet and placed it on his head, his voice turning hollow and majestic.
"Alex, I really didn’t misjudge you!"
"The feeling is mutual."
Alex turned and walked out, his cape tracing a white arc behind him.
Just as he stepped out of the Pope’s Palace, a streak of golden light flashed in the shadows.
Alex paused his steps, halted his figure, and said flatly, "Aiolia, come out."
Aiolia stepped out from the shadows. The knuckles of his tightly clenched fists were stark white, and his eyes were bloodshot from intense emotion.
"Brother Alex, I want to know the truth about what happened to my brother back then!"
"Follow me..."
Alex did not answer directly, instead leading him toward the peak of the sacred mountain.
The mountain wind howled, whipping up the white cape behind Alex and making it flap loudly. The two men overlooked the mortal realm at the foot of the mountain; the smoke and lights from the towns rose faintly, sketching a beautiful, picturesque scene.
"Do you see it, Aiolia? What your brother and I protect is this mortal realm. The Goddess Athena does the same..."
"As long as our goals are aligned, sometimes necessary sacrifices are inevitable." Alex’s voice was slightly scattered by the wind as the light of reminiscence flashed in his eyes.
"The night of the incident, I asked your brother: was doing this worth it?"
Aiolia’s voice was so hoarse it was almost out of tune. "What did my brother say?"
A trace of nostalgia flickered in Alex’s eyes. "Aiolos told me that some things... someone just has to do them."
Aiolia gritted his teeth. "And the Goddess? What did she say...?"
Alex’s gaze shifted slightly. "I just verified this with the Goddess. She said your brother’s passing was not her intention. The dark power lurking within the Sanctuary was the true culprit..."
"When she returns through reincarnation, she will give Aiolos the explanation he deserves!"
Aiolia’s Cosmo abruptly erupted! "Dark power? Who is it?!"
Alex slowly shook his head. "As for who it is exactly, I am still investigating, but the truth will soon come to light."
Aiolia said in a deep voice, "Alright. I will wait for that day. Brother Alex, before I die in battle, I hope to get an answer!"
Alex nodded slightly. "Rest assured, Aiolia. Aiolos was my close friend. Someone will definitely pay the price for his sacrifice!"
"Go back and guard the Leo Temple. Without my orders, no one is allowed to pass!"
Aiolia nodded heavily, turning and walking toward the Twelve Zodiac Temples. His Gold Cloth gleamed with absolute resolve under the setting sun.
Alex watched his retreating back and sighed softly. Aiolia’s nature was simply too naive.
He couldn’t let him know all of his conjectures just yet; otherwise, the fury of Leo would likely scorch all intruders to ashes.
Before defeating Hades, the King of the Underworld, Athena still held her value...
