Chapter 93: Chapter 47: Overawing the Entire Hall! The Man Known as Shaka! (Part 1)

Golden tassels hung from the dome of the Pope’s Hall. The mottled skylight shining through the twelve-constellation star chart cast flowing constellations upon the marble floor.

The Saints felt as if they were standing atop a galaxy.

Alex stood with his hands behind his back, the Aquarius Cloth reflecting the interplay of light and shadow.

His voice, like shattering ice crystals, pierced the heavy silence of the hall.

"Teacher Shion has stepped down. He has passed down a decree: the position of Pope shall be succeeded by Gemini Saga."

The moment his words fell, the air in the entire hall seemed to freeze into solid ice; even the sound of breathing became clearly audible.

Saga kept his head bowed, his body trembling slightly. He had originally thought that Alex urging him to return to the Sanctuary and making him Pope was merely a joke.

But everything happening right now proved that Alex truly possessed the power to push him onto the Pope’s throne!

The papal throne he had once racked his brains and even struck from the shadows to seize was now surprisingly within his grasp.

Saga couldn’t help but wonder if he was living in a dream.

But Alex’s unquestionable gaze and the drastically changed expressions of the surrounding Gold Saints were all telling him that this was completely real!

Saga took a deep breath. He knew that even if he could sit on the throne, it was merely the beginning.

As a former traitor to the Sanctuary, the many Gold Saints would absolutely not easily tolerate his ascension to the papacy, let alone obey his commands.

Aries Mu stepped forward. His long silver hair swayed slightly under the skylight, his pale purple eyes full of confusion.

"Alex, is this... truly Teacher Shion’s decree?"

He paused, clenching his fists, a powerful will to fight seeping from his eyes.

"Where is Teacher Shion? Why isn’t he here to announce it himself?"

A terrifying conjecture grew wildly like vines in the depths of Mu’s heart: Could it be that Teacher Shion has met with foul play?

Both being of the Jamirian race, the relationship between Mu and Shion was far closer than what everyone saw on the surface.

Alex’s gaze swept over Mu’s tense, handsome face, his tone completely placid.

"Teacher Shion has returned to the Jamir Plateau to recuperate. He is advanced in years and bore the divine majesty of the Goddess’s descent; he can no longer withstand such mental and physical exhaustion."

He raised a hand to gesture.

"If you don’t believe me, send a message back to the plateau and ask. You will know."

Mu’s shoulders visibly relaxed quite a bit, and his fingertips stopped trembling.

It made sense. Given Alex’s proud nature, if he had truly done something to Teacher Shion, there would be absolutely no need for him to concoct such a lie.

’As long as Teacher is safe.’ Mu lowered his head and stepped back, saying softly,

"I overthought things."

"Overthought things? I say someone is passing off a fake decree!"

Cancer Deathmask’s voice boomed like a sudden clap of thunder.

His short hair stood on end like spikes. In a few strides, he rushed to the center of the hall, pointing at Saga with a cold sneer.

"Letting this traitor, who once attempted to assassinate the Pope, succeed the throne? Alex, has your brain been frozen solid by the cold air of Siberia?!"

"What exactly happened just now? Do you dare let Shion come back and confront us?"

Before his voice even faded, a hand clad in a Gold Cloth clamped down on his shoulder.

Pisces Aphrodite stood behind him, slowly shaking his head. The force of his grip was immense, showing no hesitation.

Deathmask turned back and glared at him, but in the other man’s solemn eyes, he saw a clear warning.

Boom!

Alex’s ice-blue Cosmo erupted abruptly. The energy materialized into a tangible torrent, instantly filling the entire Pope’s Palace.

Ice spikes grew wildly along the patterns of the floor tiles, condensing into crystalline frost flowers over the murals. Simultaneously, silver snake-like lightning darted between the ice spikes, crackling loudly.
