Chapter 136: Chapter 68: Spatial Freeze, The Covenant of the Gods! (Part 2)

Under the dual assault of golden lightning and extreme cold, Asclepius’s body began to disintegrate bit by bit. Ultimately, not even a single cell was left behind; only the pieces of the Ophiuchus Gold Cloth remained scattered across the floor.

Alex dispelled his Cosmo, but he still didn’t detect any absorbable Divinity. His heart sank slightly. In that last attack, he had infused the power of Soul Obliteration.

Even that wasn’t enough to kill Asclepius?

Alex shouted coldly, "Asclepius, I know you aren’t dead! Come out and fight!"

A low, deep chuckle echoed from beneath the ground, carrying a trace of both reluctance and curiosity.

"Heh... I am growing increasingly curious. Just how many abilities do you possess? To think you even dare to lay your hands on the authority of Zeus!"

"Alex, I am immortal! Even Athena could only seal me; she could not kill me. No matter how overwhelming your power is, what does it matter?!"

"Very well. To make you truly comprehend my power, let me introduce you to my pet. Come forth, Python!"

Python—the primordial, ferocious beast of ancient Greek mythology!

According to legend, Python was dispatched by Hera, Queen of the Gods, to persecute Leto, the mother of the Sun God Apollo, forcing her to flee to the island of Delos to give birth.

There, she gave birth to Apollo, the Sun God whose martial prowess was unparalleled among the Twelve Olympians.

When Apollo came of age, he hunted Python down, ultimately slaying and sealing it!

Because it bore the absolute hatred of the Sun God, this giant serpent could not endure the touch of sunlight; otherwise, it would die instantly.

How could it possibly become Asclepius’s pet?

Rumble!

The floor of the Ophiuchus Temple violently split open. A primordial giant serpent, covered head to tail in golden armor, slithered out from beneath the earth.

It opened its massive maw and spat out a lump of flesh. Right before Alex’s eyes, this lump of flesh rapidly twisted, proliferated, and grew, quickly regenerating back into Asclepius.

Asclepius stood up and, right in front of Alex, slowly donned his Gold Cloth piece by piece. As he dressed, he spoke in an indifferent tone.

"After my father, Apollo, sealed Python, he noted my ability to control all serpents and gifted it to me as a pet. Through my modifications, Python and I have become one entity. As long as Python lives, I am truly immortal!"

Alex narrowed his eyes slightly, a chilling glint flashing in his pupils. "And what if I slaughter both you and your pet together?"

Asclepius, however, was completely unconcerned. A mocking smile curled the corners of his mouth.

"Do you really think a primordial, ferocious beast like Python only possesses a single body? Its clones are scattered throughout the Underworld and the mortal realm. Can you possibly kill them all?"

He paused, his tone softening with a hint of temptation. "Don’t waste your energy, Alex. You cannot kill me. My time for this manifestation is running short. Why don’t we sit down and have a proper conversation?"

As he spoke, he stroked the crown of the giant serpent’s head. The golden serpent gave him a slight nod before burrowing back underground. The fissure in the floor sealed shut behind it, as if the beast had never appeared.

Alex frowned slightly. First, it was the nine-headed Hydra, and now the golden giant serpent, Python. More and more primordial creatures were appearing in this world, causing the plot he was familiar with to continuously deviate from its established history.

’Could all of this be the result of a space-time alteration brought about by his own intrusion?’

Asclepius lightly tapped his scepter against the ground, showing no intention of launching another attack against Alex.

"Now we can finally have a proper talk, right, Alex? My absolute domains are toxins and regeneration; I am not actually skilled in direct combat. Otherwise, the victor of today’s battle would not have been so easily decided!"

"Will you truly not reconsider joining forces with me to rule this earth? This is a once-in-a-millennium opportunity. As long as you wish it, we can absolutely prevent Athena from resurrecting."
