Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings

Chapter 366: Why Are You Helping Us?

  • Next Chapter

Elena stood and moved to Lilith’s bedside. She placed her hand over Lilith’s heart...gentle, not invasive....and closed her eyes.

"The curse is here," Elena said. "Coiled around your heart. Feeding on your magic. Growing stronger every day. Right now it’s trying to kill you. But what if instead of fighting it, you claimed it? Pulled it into your core and made it part of your power instead of something foreign eating you alive?"

She opened her eyes and looked at Lilith directly.

"You would become something that’s never existed before," Elena said. "A witch who can wield death magic and life magic simultaneously. Someone who can manipulate bonds and curses with equal skill. A bridge between the living and the dead."

"That’s impossible," Victoria said. "No one can wield opposing magics. They cancel each other out or drive the caster insane."

"No one with a normal magical signature can wield opposing magics," Elena corrected. "But Lilith doesn’t have a normal signature. She has three soul bonds anchoring her to life. She has Morvaine blood giving her the ability to manipulate connections. And she has a divine curse literally rewriting her magical core. She’s already becoming something unprecedented whether she wants to or not. I’m just suggesting we guide the transformation instead of letting it kill her."

The room was silent.

Lilith could feel the bonds pulsing with emotion. Nicholas’s calculating consideration. Sebastian’s desperate hope. Lucian’s skeptical caution.

"What would I have to do?" Lilith asked quietly.

Elena sat down again. "Stop fighting the curse. Stop trying to push it away or contain it. Instead, pull it in. Let it become part of your magic. And then use your Morvaine gift to weave it into the soul bonds so the curse stops seeing you as an enemy and starts seeing you as...." She paused. "As something it can’t destroy without destroying itself."

"You want me to trap the curse inside my own power," Lilith said.

"I want you to transform it," Elena corrected. "Make it yours. Control it instead of letting it control you."

"And if it doesn’t work?" Sebastian asked. "If she tries this and fails?"

Elena’s expression was grave. "Then the curse consumes her immediately. No second chances. No time to try something else. She either succeeds or she dies."

"No," Nicholas said immediately. "Absolutely not. We’re not risking Lilith’s life on an untested theory."

"What’s the alternative?" Elena challenged. "Let the curse kill her slowly over the next week? Watch her suffer and fade until there’s nothing left? Or perform the bond severance and watch her die that way instead?"

"There has to be another option," Nicholas said.

"There isn’t," Elena said flatly. "I’ve been researching this curse for three days. I’ve consulted every text in my family’s archives. I’ve reached out to contacts who specialize in divine magic and curse breaking. This is the only solution that doesn’t end in death or devastation."

She looked at Lilith.

"But it’s not my choice to make," Elena said gently. "It’s yours. You’re the one carrying the curse. You’re the one who would have to attempt this transformation. So Lilith, what do you want to do?"

Lilith looked around the room.

At Victoria standing with tears in her eyes. At the three Alphas who loved her enough to fight impossible battles. At Elena sitting calmly like she was offering a simple choice instead of a life-or-death gamble.

"If I do this," Lilith said slowly. "If I try to transform the curse and it works....what happens then?"

"Then you live," Elena said. "The curse becomes part of your power instead of something killing you. The bonds stabilize. And you become one of the most powerful witches alive."

"And if it doesn’t work?"

"Then you die," Elena said honestly. "Quickly. Probably painlessly. But permanently."

Lilith closed her eyes and felt the weight of the choice pressing down on her.

She could refuse. Could ask Elena to try something else. Could hope that in the next week someone would find a miracle solution that did not require her to gamble her life.

Or she could be brave one more time.

Could trust herself and her power and the bonds that refused to let her go.

Could choose to live or die on her own terms instead of letting fate decide for her.

Lilith opened her eyes and looked at Elena.

"When do we start?" she asked.

Elena smiled....sad and proud in equal measure.

"First you rest," she said. "You need at least two days to recover your strength before we attempt something this dangerous. Then..." She paused. "Then we find out if you’re strong enough to survive what you’re becoming."

She stood and looked at the three Alphas.

"Keep her safe," Elena said. "Keep her fed and rested and as calm as possible. What we’re about to attempt will require every ounce of strength she possesses. If she goes into it exhausted or weak, she won’t survive the first five minutes."

"We’ll take care of her," Sebastian said immediately.

Elena nodded and turned to leave.

"Wait," Lilith called after her.

Elena paused at the door.

"Why are you helping us?" Lilith asked. "You’ve been hiding for four years. Coming here puts you at risk. The vampire hunting you could track the portal magic. Could find you. Why risk that for people you don’t even know?"

Elena was quiet for a long moment.

"Because four years ago," she said finally, "my entire coven was slaughtered by a vampire who decided I belonged to him. He killed everyone I loved to isolate me. To make me desperate enough to accept his protection. And when I refused anyway, he’s been hunting me ever since."

She turned to look at Lilith.

"I know what it’s like to be trapped by forces beyond your control," Elena said. "To have your choices stolen by people who think they own you. And I’ll be damned if I stand by and watch another woman lose everything because men and gods decided her fate without asking her permission."

She smiled slightly.

"So I’m helping you because you deserve the chance to choose your own path," Elena said. "Even if that path is dangerous. Even if it might kill you. At least it will be your choice. Not the Moon Goddess’s. Not the curse’s. Yours."

She left after that.

The door closed softly behind her.

And Lilith was left in her room with the three men she loved and her aunt and the weight of an impossible choice pressing down on her chest.

"You don’t have to do this," Nicholas said quietly. "We can find another way."

"There is no other way," Lilith said. "You heard Elena. This is the only option that doesn’t end in death."

"It might end in death anyway," Lucian pointed out.

"I know," Lilith said. "But at least it’s a chance. At least I’m choosing to fight instead of just accepting whatever fate the Moon Goddess decided for me."

She looked at each of them in turn.

"I’m scared," she admitted. "I’m terrified. But I’m also tired of being helpless. Tired of watching everyone else fight for me while I lie in bed dying. So I’m going to do this. I’m going to try to transform the curse. And either it works...."

"Or you die trying," Sebastian finished.

"Yes," Lilith said.

Victoria made a sound like a sob and pressed her hands to her face.

Nicholas moved to sit on the edge of the bed. He took Lilith’s hand and held it gently.

"Then we support you," he said. "Whatever you need. Whatever you decide. We’re with you."

"Even if it kills me?" Lilith asked quietly.

"Even then," Nicholas confirmed. "Because you’re right. This is your choice. Your life. And we don’t get to take that away from you just because we’re scared of losing you."

"Two days," Lilith said. "Then we find out if I’m strong enough to survive this."

She closed her eyes and let herself sink into the safety of their presence.

Two days.

Two days to rest and prepare and say everything she needed to say in case the transformation killed her.

Two days before she either became something unprecedented.

Or died trying.
