Rural Farming: My Buildings Can Be Upgraded
Chapter 193 - 189: Feng Shui Master
Chapter 193: Chapter 189: Feng Shui Master
Lin Feng had planned to go to South Mountain and build the fence for the Lin Xian Tea, but Hu Xia and Zhao Shiyun came running over at the same time.
"You two came looking for me this morning. What’s up?"
SLAP!
Hu Xia slapped a dozen or so sheets of A4 paper on the table. "Take a look. These are all people applying to Lin Xian Village for a partnership on the Medicinal Cuisine."
Lin Feng picked them up and casually flipped through a few pages. ’These people are really rich!’ he marveled inwardly.
The highest bidder was offering a price of two hundred thousand per jar. Based on a thirty-day month, that would come out to seventy-two million a year.
Of course, it wasn’t just about money. Some people wanted to trade other things, like antiques, stocks in publicly traded companies, or foreign assets.
"And this is after we’ve already screened them. Otherwise, there would be even more."
Lin Feng put the list down. "Ignore them."
"Alright. If you say so, I’ll stop dealing with these applications."
Zhao Shiyun, who was standing nearby, spoke up. "My grandfather wanted me to ask you if building a residential area around Lin Xian Village would have any impact on it."
"As long as they aren’t building on the land I’ve leased, you don’t need to ask me. Let them do as they please."
Lin Feng didn’t even have to think about it. ’This must be an inquiry from Wuyuan County. They must have seen those people from the Imperial Capital building houses.’
’They’ve surely gotten some ideas of their own. The demand from tourists for lodging near Lin Xian Village is huge.’
’Even without entering the village proper, the closer you get, the better the air quality.’
Not long after the two of them left, Zhou Jun came running over.
"Here," Zhou Jun said. "These are the blueprints they designed for the Research Institute. They’ve also made some modifications to the plans for the South Mountain Valley based on your layout."
Lin Feng took them and had a look. The first thing he noticed was that the Research Institute was huge, and it wasn’t being built within Lin Xian Village itself.
They had chosen a location downhill from Lin Xian Village, just a little east of the water plant.
The road being built over by North Mountain would eventually pass between the water plant and the Research Institute.
Lin Feng asked, confused, "What’s going on? Why are they building it so big?"
"I heard they want to build a comprehensive research institute, not just one for agriculture."
"Apparently, it’s being funded by a donation, so the Science Academy and the state don’t have to pay for it."
Afraid Lin Feng would misunderstand, Zhou Jun explained, "Actually, these donors originally wanted to give the money to you, but you refuse all donations."
"When they heard what the Science Academy was doing, they figured they could establish a connection with Lin Xian Village through them instead."
"The situation changed so drastically because the news that the Medicinal Cuisine can treat cancer got out."
Lin Feng understood. Everyone is afraid of getting sick, and no one can guarantee they’ll be healthy forever.
’Once they found out I was cooperating with the government on research, they realized that if they couldn’t get to me directly, they’d go through official channels.’
"By the way, if you need anything, just tell me directly. The higher-ups will provide it for you."
"Alright. If I really need something, I’ll let you know."
’This must be their way of compensating me for agreeing to let that group of elders come here to recuperate. The higher-ups must feel like they owe me.’
’But since they can see I don’t lack anything, their only option is to have me name my price.’
His phone rang. When Lin Feng answered, he learned it was about Ni Zhonghai’s treatment. They were asking if he wanted to come and observe.
Lin Feng wasn’t interested, but when Zhou Jun heard about it, his curiosity was piqued, and he went straight to the medical lab.
As he was leaving his office, Lin Feng ran into his father, who didn’t look too happy.
"Dad, you didn’t sleep well?"
Lin Dongyue said irritably, "It’s all because of the trouble you’ve caused! For the past few days, there’s been a constant stream of people bringing gifts to the house."
"They can’t find your Mom and me during the day, so they show up at our door at night. It’s driving me crazy."
"Relatives?"
"Relatives, some of the old villagers, and a few friends."
There was nothing Lin Feng could do about it; those were his parents’ social connections.
"How about I buy you a new house? You and Mom can move somewhere else."
"Move? Forget about it. Once your sister is done with her college entrance exams, your Mom and I will just move into the village to live."
Before, if his son had wanted to buy a house in the county, he would have been all for it.
But now, everyone was trying to get a place in Lin Xian Village. He wasn’t an idiot; of course he wouldn’t want to live in the county.
"You don’t need to worry about this matter. Your Mom and I will handle it."
"Okay, then. If you really can’t turn them away, just send them to me."
"By the way, Dad, didn’t the former villagers cause any trouble before?"
Lin Feng was rather curious about this. Even though the village had been broken up, he didn’t believe those people would just accept it quietly.
"They did. Of course they caused trouble. It’s just that nobody told you. I heard the county sent people to deal with it."
"Besides, you have so many employees from Mountain Ridge Town here. You really think people earning such high wages wouldn’t be grateful?"
Lin Feng quickly understood. He had nearly a hundred employees from Mountain Ridge Town, and their families and connections represented a significant force back in the town.
If anyone dared to threaten their livelihood, their families would genuinely fight to the death.
Especially with the high wages in Lin Xian Village. When their interests weren’t at stake, everyone was perfectly friendly.
But the moment their interests were threatened, even family would turn on each other.
Lin Dongyue didn’t tell him that some people who couldn’t get into Lin Xian Village had gone straight to the county government building.
It’s just that before they could even start making a scene, they would be taken away by the police.
After chatting with his son for a bit, he hurried off to handle things at the water plant.
The mineral water produced in Lin Xian Village, just as Lin Feng had expected, never even made it to retail.
Wang Lihua pushed a wheelchair, in which sat Wu Yu. The little girl’s complexion had improved, and she looked around curiously.
"Yuyu, what do you want to eat for lunch today?"
"Tomatoes! Mom, it’s Brother Lin Feng."
Wang Lihua looked up and saw Lin Feng walking toward them.
"Lin Feng, where are you off to?"
"Oh, just heading over to South Mountain. How is Yuyu doing?"
Wang Lihua smiled. "Much better. At this rate, she should be fully recovered in just two months."
Lin Feng crouched down and said to Wu Yu, "Yuyu, you have to eat properly from now on, okay? No more being picky like before."
"Okay, Brother. I’m eating properly now." Wu Yu looked up at Lin Feng with her bright eyes.
"Lin Feng, the master tailors are coming today."
"Okay. Just take them to the Clothing Workshop and look for Gu Yuxi."
"Alright, I will."
Wang Lihua had been to the Lin Xian Village Clothing Workshop before and was extremely curious about the clothes they made.
Although the styles were simple, the finished garments were even more comfortable than her own custom-tailored clothes.
Now, both she and her daughter were wearing outfits they had bought from the Clothing Workshop.
The reputation of the Lin Xian Village Clothing Workshop was also slowly spreading as more and more tourists bought clothes there.
For now, tourists weren’t exactly scrambling to buy them like they did with the Restaurant’s offerings, but as the number of customers grew, it was bound to end up the same way.
At that moment, a boss and a white-haired old man were wandering around inside Lin Xian Village.
Every so often, the old man would surreptitiously pull a Compass from his pocket, pretend to study it for a moment, and mutter a few abstruse words that no one could understand.
"Master You, what exactly is going on here? Could it be the Spiritual Qi Revival people are talking about online?"
You Changming’s lips twitched involuntarily. He put on a serious expression and gazed toward South Mountain.
"Boss Zhu, this place is truly remarkable. It’s backed by a mountain and faces water, with guardians to its left and right. It’s like it’s holding two golden mountains, attracting wealth and gathering qi."
"Look at the buildings on that mountain. See how they’re stacked layer upon layer, just like a *yuanbao*? It has formed a Yuanbao Mountain."
"Master You, it really does."
"Master You, do you see any way I could buy this place?"
You Changming, who was stroking his beard, almost yanked a handful of it out.
’This Boss Zhu’s request is ridiculous,’ he thought. He had already looked into Lin Xian Village’s situation before agreeing to come.
"Boss Zhu, a place like this can’t be taken lightly. If you don’t have enough good fortune of your own to hold it down, you’ll be cursed with bad luck."
"But I’ve investigated that Lin Feng. He was just an ordinary guy. If he can handle it, why can’t I?"
His fleshy face took on a comical expression that seemed to say, "I’m a big shot, too."
"Boss Zhu, you can’t just say things like that. The man has immense good fortune."
"My mistake, my mistake. Master You, do you see a way to borrow a bit of his good fortune for myself?"
"Well..." Master You stroked his beard. "If you could acquire your own residence here, you would be able to borrow some of his good fortune."
You Changming thought to himself, ’Anyone who can live in Lin Xian Village will reap benefits. I’m not even lying.’
"Master You, I’ve already tried that. They completely ignore me. Do you have a way?"
"Boss Zhu, I’m just a Fengshui Master. I can’t help you with something like that."
Zhu Youcai was disappointed to hear this. But when he looked up, he happened to see Lin Feng. His eyes lit up as an idea suddenly struck him.
"Boss Lin! Boss Lin!"
Lin Feng stopped and turned to the person calling him. "Can I help you with something?"
"Hello, Boss Lin! My name is Zhu Youcai. I’d like to introduce you to a Feng Shui Master who I’m sure can be of great help to you."
"A Feng Shui Master? Are you sure you’ve got the right person?"
"Yes, a Feng Shui Master! Master You, come over here, quick!"
The moment You Changming heard Zhu Youcai call out to Lin Feng, he knew things had gone south, but it was too late to do anything.
He could only put on an act and walk toward Lin Feng, doing his best to project the image of a profound master.
’If I can actually fool Lin Feng,’ he thought, ’I’ll be set for life. So many wealthy people want something from this place.’
"Hello, Boss Lin. My name is You Changming. I’m a Feng Shui Master, though hardly worthy of the title ’Master’," he said, stroking his beard.
Lin Feng sized him up. ’The guy certainly looks the part of a wise sage, but I wonder if he has any real ability.’
Zhu Youcai quickly interjected, "Master You is just being modest. He often goes to Hong Kong Island to do feng shui readings for clients."
Lin Feng smiled. "In that case, Master You is truly being humble. You can’t make a living on Hong Kong Island without real skill."
"You’re too kind, Boss Lin. My meager skills are just enough to put food on the table."
"Gentlemen, it’s not convenient to talk here. Why don’t we head over to the Land God Temple and sit for a bit?"
’No matter what kind of ghoul or goblin you are,’ Lin Feng thought, ’it’s never a bad idea to pay respects to the Earth God first.’
You Changming was reluctant. He knew exactly what kind of fraud he was, which was why he had been deliberately avoiding the Land God Temple ever since arriving in Lin Xian Village.
Zhu Youcai’s interest was piqued. He had wanted to check out the Land God Temple anyway, but Master You had steered clear of it since they entered the village.
"Master You, let’s go take a look. I hear the Earth God here is very responsive to prayers."
You Changming braced himself and said, "Alright, let’s go have a look then."
The three of them arrived at the Land God Temple. Daoist Qi spotted them quickly but assumed they were Lin Feng’s guests, so he didn’t come over to say hello.
"This fragrance is amazing! Boss Lin, this place is truly magical."
You Changming couldn’t smell anything at all. He recalled the information he’d read about the Land God Temple and suddenly grew tense.
Lin Feng was surprised. This Zhu Youcai wasn’t a man of low character, nor had he ever broken the law.
The Fengshui Master beside him, however, seemed off, which made it clear to Lin Feng that something was wrong with him.
"Feel free to pay your respects. The Earth God here can ensure peace and safety for your household."
Without hesitation, Zhu Youcai took three sticks of incense from his bag and began to pray.
"Master You, aren’t you going to pray?
Boss Lin, why isn’t there a donation box? I’d like to donate some money."
"We don’t need donations here. If you’d like to make a donation, Boss Zhu, you can give to a charitable organization."
You Changming stood to the side, his face a mask of conflict. If he didn’t pray, not only would he fail to get his money, but Boss Zhu would also give him hell for it later.
