Chapter 904: Savior
Chapter 904: Chapter 904: Savior
Feng Jiuge walked over and sized her up from head to toe. "Are you heading to Qing City?"
"Yes. I didn’t expect my car to break down, and then I ran into those scum here. If I hadn’t met you, I really would’ve been humiliated by them."
A trace of lingering fear flashed in the woman’s eyes.
"Your car broke down?"
"Mm, I don’t know what happened, it suddenly just stalled."
Feng Jiuge looked at Yang Cheng. "We’re going that way anyway, let’s give her a ride."
Yang Cheng nodded. There was no way he could leave such a beautiful woman stranded on the road.
Not long after the three of them got in the car, Feng Jiuge asked the young woman in the back seat, "Looking at you, you don’t seem like you’re out traveling. Rushing to Qing City like this, do you have something urgent?"
The young woman let out a sigh, a hint of gloom flickering in her beautiful eyes. "My grandpa is sick. My family called and told me to hurry home. I rushed out in a hurry and didn’t bring any bodyguards with me, and ended up running into this kind of situation."
"I see."
Feng Jiuge nodded, then turned to glance at Yang Cheng, the corners of her lips lifting in a faint smile. "Then you’re in luck. This Yang Cheng, Mr. Yang, is a famous miracle doctor. His medical skills are incredible. Back where we’re from, he’s known as the ’Divine Doctor.’"
The young woman’s eyes lit up. She looked at Yang Cheng in delight. "Mr. Yang, you’re a doctor?"
"I know a thing or two."
Yang Cheng gave a modest smile and looked at the woman in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
She looked to be about twenty‑five or twenty‑six, with delicate features and fair skin, long hair draped over her shoulders, dressed in a light‑colored dress. Even though it had been torn open at one spot, it still couldn’t hide her elegant temperament. Her beautiful eyes carried traces of anxiety and exhaustion, clearly from rushing along the way.
"Mr. Yang, once we get to Qing City, could I trouble you to come to my house and take a look at my grandpa?"
The young woman’s tone was full of pleading. "As long as you can cure my grandpa’s illness, our Cui Family will certainly reward you generously."
"The Cui Family?"
Feng Jiuge raised her brows slightly. "You’re from the Cui Family in Qing City?"
"Yes. You know the Cui Family? I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Cui Yunzhi, the youngest of the younger generation at home."
Cui Yunzhi answered without putting up any guard against the two of them.
These two were her saviors, and judging from their looks they didn’t seem like bad people.
Yang Cheng and Feng Jiuge exchanged a glance, a hint of surprise flashing in both their eyes.
Cui Boyong!
Isn’t that the very Cui Boyong Elder Kong mentioned, the one who collected the Earth Core Fire?
Talk about searching high and low with no result, only to have it fall right into your lap!
"Miss Cui, you’re too polite. Treating illnesses and saving people is a doctor’s duty. There’s no need to talk about rewards."
Yang Cheng’s tone was gentle. "Once we get to Qing City, I’ll go take a look at your grandpa’s condition. If it’s treatable, I’ll do my best."
"Thank you, Mr. Yang! Thank you!"
Cui Yunzhi was so moved her eyes reddened, thanking him over and over.
The car continued forward. Before long, they could already see small buildings in the city.
Qing City was an ancient city with a long history, surrounded by mountains on all sides, with beautiful scenery. On both sides of the streets stood quaint buildings—blue bricks and dark tiles, upturned eaves and carved corners—full of a simple, archaic charm.
As soon as the car entered the Qingcheng City District, they saw a black business van parked not far ahead. The moment its driver saw Yang Cheng’s car, the van immediately turned on its hazard lights.
"My cousin came to pick me up. Mr. Yang, could you please pull over?"
Cui Yunzhi said quickly.
Yang Cheng pulled over by the roadside. As soon as Cui Yunzhi got out, a man of about thirty hurriedly climbed out of the business van.
He was wearing a well‑cut dark suit, with handsome features and a trace of anxiety between his brows. Seeing that Cui Yunzhi was safe and sound, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Yunzhi! You finally made it back! Why are you riding in someone else’s car? Did something happen?"
The man’s voice was full of concern. He reached out to take the bag from Cui Yunzhi’s hand, his gaze falling on the men’s coat draped over her shoulders, a glint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
"Yunfan, it was my car that broke down, and there were a few punks who tried to bully me. Luckily I ran into these two kind people—they saved me."
Cui Yunzhi turned to Yang Cheng and Feng Jiuge. "Yunfan, this is Yang Cheng, Mr. Yang, and this is his friend, Miss Feng Jiuge. And Mr. Yang is a miracle doctor. I want to invite them to come treat Grandpa."
Cui Yunfan’s gaze fell on Yang Cheng. He sized him up from head to toe, a hint of scrutiny flashing in his eyes, but he still politely extended his hand.
"Mr. Yang, thank you for saving my sister. However, there are pressing matters at home right now, so we won’t be able to receive you for the time being."
"You’re too polite, Mr. Cui."
Yang Cheng reached out and shook his hand, neither servile nor overbearing.
He could feel that this Mr. Cui clearly didn’t think much of him, probably taking him for some quack from the streets.
"In that case, we’ll be on our way."
Feng Jiuge also heard the disdain in the other man’s tone and spoke up, displeased.
She took Yang Cheng’s hand and turned to leave. Cui Yunzhi wanted to step forward and explain, but was stopped by Cui Yunfan.
"Little sis, Grandpa is still waiting for you at home. Don’t bother with those two outsiders. You’re still too naive. A young guy like that, even if he knows medicine, can’t be that good. How could we let him treat Grandpa?"
"For all we know, they already knew you were Miss Cui of the Cui Family and deliberately had those thugs block your way, just so they could step in and ’save’ you."
"Yunfan, they’re not that kind of people."
As she spoke, Cui Yunzhi shook off his hand and hurriedly chased after them.
She spoke with an apologetic look on her face. "I’m really sorry, Mr. Yang, Miss Feng. My brother doesn’t mean any harm. It’s just that he was kidnapped when he was young, so he’s more wary. I hope you won’t hold it against him."
"You’re my saviors. It’s only right that I arrange a place for you to stay. Please come back to the Cui Family with me now."
"No need. We’re not very comfortable living in someone else’s home."
Yang Cheng spoke lightly.
"Then where will you be staying? Once you’re settled, I’ll send someone to bring you to the Cui Family as guests."
Cui Yunzhi said quickly.
"We haven’t found a place yet. Once we’re settled, we’ll contact you, Miss Cui."
Yang Cheng said.
Cui Yunzhi took a business card from her bag and handed it over. "Mr. Yang, this is my card. My phone number is on it. Once you’re settled, you must call me. I’ll be sure to host you properly."
Yang Cheng took the card, glanced at it, and then slipped it into his pocket.
"Alright, then we’ll take our leave."
With that, he and Feng Jiuge got into the car and drove off.
Cui Yunzhi stood where she was, watching the car disappear into the distance, a faint smile still on her lips.
"Yunzhi, why lower yourself like that? I think those two are completely unreliable—definitely swindlers."
Cui Yunfan frowned, his tone tinged with suspicion.
"Yunfan, they’re not swindlers. I don’t want you speaking about my saviors like that anymore."
Cui Yunzhi knit her brows slightly, her tone firm. "Besides, I can tell Mr. Yang is someone with real skill."
"Alright, let’s go back first. Grandpa is still waiting for you."
Cui Yunfan didn’t say anything more and helped Cui Yunzhi into the car.
