Chapter 896: What’s the Hidden Agenda?

Chapter 896: Chapter 896: What’s the Hidden Agenda?

"Morning."

Yang Cheng sat next to Kong Lingwen and took a sip of porridge.

"Yang Cheng, are you going to the company today?"

Kong Lingwen asked.

"Yes, before I go to see Cui Boyong, I want to first develop the new drug. Chenling Pharmaceutical is in a good position right now, so let’s strike while the iron is hot and launch two new drugs to make a name for ourselves."

Once he said this, everyone cast joyful glances his way.

"Brother Cen, what new drugs are you planning to create?"

Kong Lingchuan asked curiously.

"One for calming the mind and aiding sleep, and another for enhancing physical fitness and boosting immunity."

Yang Cheng said, "The calming and sleep aid drug is called ’Clear Dream Powder,’ suitable for stressed students and office workers, helping them sleep more soundly and feel refreshed the next day. The second drug is ’Essence Stabilizing Pill,’ which enhances physical fitness and boosts immunity, suited for those with weak constitutions."

"These two directions are great, there’s a big market demand for them. When do you plan to start developing?"

Kong Lingwen’s eyes lit up with a look of admiration as she observed him.

"I’ll head to the company after breakfast, and then I’ll teach you all how to make these two drugs step-by-step."

Yang Cheng sped up his eating after he spoke.

After breakfast, the group drove to Chenling Pharmaceutical.

Inside the company’s production workshop, workers were busily and orderly engaged in their work.

Yang Cheng nodded in satisfaction, knowing that after the Gong Family collapsed, Kong Lingwen seized the opportunity to acquire the Gong Family’s pharmaceutical companies, expanding the business scope from Zhonghai to several surrounding cities, adding over a dozen new drugs to their lineup. However, the three drugs he developed were still the hottest sellers.

He led Kong Lingwen and Kong Lingchuan into the research lab, laying out the pre-prepared medicinal materials one by one.

"The production of these two drugs isn’t complicated, but it requires precise control of heat and dosage."

Yang Cheng said as he started working, "I’ll do it once, watch closely, and try to remember."

He weighed the medicinal materials according to the proportions; although he didn’t need to use scales, he had to provide them with specific numbers.

Medicinal materials were placed into a pot, water added in appropriate amounts, and the process of simmering over low heat began.

"The key to ’Clear Dream Powder’ lies in this ’Calming Herb’; the heat must not be too high, otherwise the efficacy will be lost and the drug’s effect greatly reduced."

Yang Cheng instructed and simmered the medicine, "When the medicinal liquid turns pale yellow, you can turn off the heat, then filter, dry, and grind into powder."

After half an hour, the medicinal liquid in the pot turned pale yellow, emitting a faint fresh fragrance.

Yang Cheng turned off the heat, filtered the medicinal liquid, and poured it into a shallow dish, leaving it to dry in a ventilated area.

"Once it’s completely dry and ground into powder, it’ll be the ’Clear Dream Powder.’"

He turned to Kong Lingwen, "Try the method I just explained."

Kong Lingwen nodded and walked to the stove, starting to work according to Yang Cheng’s guidance.

Her hands were nimble, and her memory astonishing; she succeeded on her first attempt, but Kong Lingchuan failed repeatedly despite trying several times.

Yang Cheng shook his head helplessly and said, "Practice more in your free time; next, I’ll teach you how to make the ’Essence Stabilizing Pill.’ The dosage for this drug must be precise; altering it by even a bit will affect the efficacy."

Standing beside Kong Lingwen, he taught her step-by-step, "The heat should be somewhat higher than for ’Clear Dream Powder’; simmer until the medicinal liquid turns dark brown, and then turn off the heat."

Kong Lingwen focused intently, cautiously controlling the heat.

After half an hour, the medicinal liquid in the pot turned dark brown, releasing a strong medicinal aroma.

"You can turn off the heat now."

Yang Cheng said.

Kong Lingwen turned off the heat, poured the medicinal liquid into a shallow dish, and left it to dry in a ventilated spot.

"Once it’s completely dry and formed into small pills, it becomes ’Essence Stabilizing Pill.’"

Yang Cheng nodded in satisfaction, "Well done."

She truly is his woman, remarkably talented in pharmaceuticals, learning almost instantly.

As for his brother-in-law, he’s naturally more suited to taking the easy route; it’s clear why Kong Jingshan ultimately decided to entrust the family business to Kong Lingwen.

The son’s ability was lacking; even if the family business was handed to him, he wouldn’t be able to maintain it. He’s better off as a nonchalant figure receiving dividends annually.

"Lingchuan, you try making the ’Essence Stabilizing Pill’ as well."

Yang Cheng looked at Kong Lingchuan.

Kong Lingchuan nervously moved to the stove, following Yang Cheng’s guidance to start the process.

Although a bit clumsy, he was serious, executing each step strictly according to Yang Cheng’s instructions.

"Not bad, you’ve improved."

Yang Cheng praised.

Kong Lingchuan grinned, feeling a sense of accomplishment.

"The formulas for these two drugs are only known to us three; they absolutely must not be leaked. If they are, they’ll undoubtedly be sold in advance."

Yang Cheng cautioned in a low voice.

"Understood."

Kong Lingwen and Kong Lingchuan nodded simultaneously, quickly securing the formulas in their bags.

"Although the Gong Family has fallen, there are still many watching the Kong Family."

Yang Cheng continued, "Chenling Pharmaceutical is now the pillar of the Kong Family; we must guard it well and take this opportunity to rise to greater heights."

Kong Lingwen nodded, "I’ll strengthen security to ensure the formulas aren’t leaked."

"Moreover, we need to keep up with the new drug’s promotion. There’s huge market demand for ’Clear Dream Powder’ and ’Essence Stabilizing Pill.’ As long as the reputation builds, they will sell well. I can’t stay in Zhonghai indefinitely; Zhonghai Pharmaceutical will rely on you siblings going forward."

"Brother Cen, don’t worry, sister will handle the pharmaceuticals, and I’ll take care of the promotion."

Kong Lingchuan volunteered, "I know a few media friends who can help build momentum."

"Alright, I’ll leave it to you; focus on what you’re good at."

Yang Cheng patted his shoulder.

The three walked out of the research room and into the office.

Kong Lingwen sat in the office chair, flipping through the documents in her hand, eyebrows slightly furrowed.

"What’s wrong?"

Yang Cheng asked.

"There’s a banquet the night after tomorrow, held by an old family in Zhonghai."

Kong Lingwen looked up, "After the Gong Family fell, this family acquired several Gong Family companies and is thriving. Chenling Pharmaceutical is currently highly prominent, so the Kong Family is also on the invitation list."

"What family?"

Kong Lingwen said, "The Yan Family; their head is Yan Liguo, Yan Lizhu’s cousin. Yan Lizhu was killed by Gong Jian, and the Yan Family used this as a pretext to start buying up companies extensively."

"We took down the Gong Family, but unexpectedly the biggest beneficiary turned out to be the Yan Family, who even sent an invitation, asking me to bring my brother to attend—not knowing what they’re planning."

"Inviting you, it’s unlikely just for a simple meal."

Yang Cheng said in a serious tone.

"I know."

Kong Lingwen smirked coldly, "They’re probably probing the Kong Family’s strengths and weaknesses, or attempting to recruit us, or maybe looking to take a share of the pie."

"Are you going?"

Kong Lingwen closed the document with a serious expression, "Of course, we have to go. I heard Yan Family invited all the Zhonghai elites; it wouldn’t look right if we didn’t go, and I’m curious to see what the Yan Family intends to do."
