Book 4, Chapter 171: Filling The Sky With Spirit Flames

The bone shaman faction members had truly sturdy bodies. When they ran into the ripples, it was as if they had fallen from a high place and crashed into cement, but they weren’t injured and tried to stand up again.

They were pinned down by some power, though. It wasn’t something physical, but as if their mutated tissue was refusing to get back up.

Han Fu’s body wasn’t as sturdy as theirs, so he suffered terrible damage. He could tell right away that things were off. He felt like he had lost control over his mutated tissue. They refused to listen to him, much less repair the damage, so he couldn’t get up from his kneeling position.

“What’s going on?”

The two politicians were shocked. They had some working knowledge of martial arts, but no intuitive understanding. All they saw was Han Fu and the three bone shaman faction members being defeated in an instant.

They scoffed at the four for being useless. Their subordinates had been mistaken about their abilities, or so they thought. They didn’t catch many things that were happening behind the screen.

Unlike them, the martial artists sensed that something didn’t add up, but they couldn’t tell what it was. Han Fu and the three bone shaman faction members were all Third Limit martial artists. They were incredibly fast, and since some of the screens weren’t linked yet, the politicians couldn’t see all that had happened within that short moment.

The moment Han Fu and the others collapsed, the people in the airships couldn’t sit still anymore. The three airships drew closer and surrounded the Resolution Department’s building.

“This is your final warning. Corrupted personnel, for the sake of the Central City’s citizens, please put down your weapons and stop resisting, or we will use force!” the captain warned.

Han Fu chuckled at that. He wiped off the blood at the corner of his mouth and stared at Chen Chuan. “I remember how you humiliated me that day. You’ll be going through all that I suffered that day. It doesn’t feel great to be the subject of everyone’s ire, does it?”

Chen Chuan looked down at him. “You’d be more convincing if you weren’t saying that while kneeling.”

Han Fu’s face turned red.

“As for what you said...” Chen Chuan looked up at the airships, and his biofield spread out.

The three airships surrounding the square were dozens of meters above ground, but they felt as if they had run into something. The bulkheads and hulls burst open. They stayed frozen in the air for a moment before falling apart and plunging down from the sky.

“They’re just toys to me,” Chen Chuan finished his sentence.

Boom!

As if to support what he said, the three airships exploded practically at the same time and created a large fireball. The red light from the flames and thick smoke instantly filled the air above the square.

Everyone watching was stunned.

What just happened?

Why did the airships fall? Were they attacked?

Many of them wanted to figure out why the three airships had plummeted. A moment ago, those same airships had shown them the square through their domain communications entities, so now, their view was limited. They couldn’t get a good look from above and figure out what had happened.

Han Fu forced his head up to look at Chen Chuan, but he couldn’t see him clearly, since his back was turned toward the sunlight. He started trembling.

Just now, when they got close to each other, he had sensed a power so vast that it felt like an ocean. An answer formed in his heart, but he didn’t want to believe it.

Chen Chuan looked at Han Fu before walking over to remove his hat. Then, he grabbed his hair and pulled it up.

Han Fu growled as he struggled to break free, but he couldn’t move his limbs much due to his mutated tissue refusing to listen to him.

A fist came swinging up at him.

Boom!

A powerful refined force slammed into him. Han Fu’s flesh, blood, organs, and mutated tissue splattered on the square in the shape of a fan. Only his skeleton and the skin on his head remained.

Chen Chuan let go of the skeleton.

Wang Weiguang felt his soul leave his body in fear. Chen Chuan turned to him, and he shuddered and turned to run.

Chen Chuan brought his hand up and made a pinching motion with his thumb and index finger before flicking his index finger in Wang Weiguang’s direction. A tiny bit of light flashed past. It traveled so fast that Wang Weiguang wasn’t able to see it clearly.

He sensed it, but his body couldn’t dodge it. With a loud snap, his head exploded. Since he was moving quickly and the light had slammed into him, he tumbled forward more than ten times before crashing into a wall.

His allies were all terrified. Their breathing quickened, and they started shifting slowly away, as if they were afraid that any large movements would attract Chen Chuan’s attention.

But Chen Chuan wasn’t paying attention to them. He turned around and looked across from him. A large shadow appeared between the skyscrapers. It belonged to a gigantic airship that looked like a living creature. It was flying over deceptively quickly.

The moment the airship appeared, all domain resources gathered together, and the municipal government was finally able to broadcast what was happening at the Resolution Department to the other districts in Central City.

The Union representatives were gathered in their meeting room in White Bird District. When they saw the airship, one of them asked, “Is that the Monster Airship?”

“Yes. It’s the Monster Airship, the military airship classified as Class Two on the global scale. The Great Shun Republic’s Dragon’s Roar and Fenghai created it. There are only two of them in Jibei Road’s Central City,” someone knowledgeable explained.

This airship was three hundred meters long and almost entirely made of biomaterials. Despite the municipal government’s financial power, they could only maintain and equip two such airships.

There were dozens of aircraft artillery installed on the airship, and they were filled with artillery shells made of unique biomaterials. Aside from being effective in large-scale battles, they could also be used against monstrously powerful martial artists.

Even if a martial artist could withstand or avoid a bombardment from several artillery guns, they still couldn’t avoid a bombardment from dozens of them.

There were also two large artillery guns installed at the front and back of the airship. They, too, were powerful, but took a much longer time to be reloaded, so they weren’t practical against martial artists. Only if the target went into a sturdy building or some narrow terrain that those artillery guns could play a role.

Other airships surrounded the Monster Airship to cover up for its weaknesses.

The screens on all the buildings in the districts showed the situation at the square in front of the Resolution Department. News anchors identified the “culprits”, who created this situation, and explained why the municipal government sent out the airships.

Everyone stared at the screens with wide eyes. They had no idea that Central City had such a large airship.

As the gigantic airship drew closer, its shadow covered the square and all the buildings around it. Once the black artillery guns underneath and on the sides of the airship came into view, no one thought that they could survive a bombardment from such a war machine.

Chen Chuan’s friends had also seen them, but all of them had received a message.

No matter what happens, ignore it. Don’t come to help me.

Even so, they felt uneasy.

Most of them believed that Chen Chuan could win against any powerful martial artist, but he was powerless against a war machine.

The moment Captain Lu saw the Monster Airship, he wanted to rush to Chen Chuan’s side, but was held back.

When he turned around, he saw that Xu Chan had grabbed him by the arm. “What are you doing, Lao Xu? We have to help him! We can’t let Lead Investigator Chen face that thing alone!”

“He doesn’t need our help. Just watch,” Xu Chan stated with absolute certainty as he looked up.

Yu Hongming and Yue Hongtao, the two elders of the Heavenly Pardon Gang, also saw what was happening from their Longevity Hall. Yue Hongtao sneered at Chen Chuan standing at the center of the square. “This guy gave us a warning, but he’s the one under fire now. It’s going to be hard for him to clean up this mess.”

Yu Hongming simply stared at the bone shaman faction members. They were still kneeling on the ground, unable to get up. “I don’t think so.”

The smaller airships around the Monster Airship started firing at the square, even though they were nowhere near close enough to aim properly. It looked like they had learned the lesson from the previous airships and were worried about getting attacked from an unknown distance.

Something even more shocking happened this time. Chen Chuan remained still and didn’t do anything to block the bullets. When they were a few dozen meters away from him, it looked as if they had hit glue. The air rippled, and they started slowing down. In the end, their momentum died, and the bullets fell around Chen Chuan’s feet.

He cast a glance skyward and spread his right hand, and a bright, dazzling, golden-white light shone. It was so blinding that all the screens flashed and became blurry. Only the outline of his body remained clear.

Among all the municipal government politicians, Union representatives, Linacrox Union diplomats, and other people who were watching, some knew what this meant and shot up from their seats as shock and disbelief filled their eyes. “Isn’t that...”

Chen Chuan’s gaze remained calm as he flung his arm upward. The golden-white light flew to the sky and shot through the Monster Airship.

A moment later, a loud explosion tore through the sky, and the Monster Airship exploded.
