Rise in the Martial Chaos: Starting From a Martial Arts School
Chapter 605 - 203: Top-Grade Treasure Artifacts, High-Level Controversy
In Lingxi Great Hall.
Bai Bing’s gaze lifted from the wooden box and slowly fell upon Si Jiawen. Her cool eyes were calm, and she spoke in a level tone, "This is a suit of Top-Grade Treasure Armor just sent over by Peak Master Zhenyue. It’s made for a man. Take it to Jing’er later."
Upon hearing this, Si Jiawen first froze, her pupils shrinking slightly. Then, a tempest erupted in her heart, refusing to calm for a long time.
’Top-Grade Treasure Armor?’
She could hardly believe her ears.
In the world of armaments, defensive Treasure Artifacts like armor were inherently rarer and more precious than offensive ones.
The power of offensive artifacts could be supplemented with techniques, but defensive Treasure Armor was fundamental to survival. This was especially true for Top-Grade Treasure Armor, which could withstand a full-powered blow from a True Qi Realm expert and was incredibly valuable.
Forget ordinary disciples; even among the many Elders in the sect, only a handful possessed Top-Grade Treasure Armor. Some had received it as a reward for outstanding merit or long service, while others had acquired it through their own fortuitous encounters.
Even she, the Senior Sister of Lingxi Peak, who had cultivated for many years, only wore a suit of Middle-Grade Treasure Armor. Although it could defend against attacks from the Qi Absorption Realm, its defensive power was nowhere near as astonishing as that of Top-Grade Treasure Armor.
She never would have imagined that her Master would bestow such a treasure upon Yang Jing, a little junior brother who had only just joined the sect.
A tide of envy washed over her, but Si Jiawen quickly suppressed the feeling. She bowed and replied, "Yes, Master. This disciple understands. I’ll take it to my little junior brother now."
Bai Bing hummed softly in acknowledgment and adjusted her sleeves. "I must go to the Main Peak to discuss some matters with the Sect Leader and the other Peak Masters. After you’re done with this, you may see to your own affairs."
With that, she strode out of the hall, her robes fluttering gently, leaving behind a faint, fresh fragrance.
Si Jiawen waited until her Master’s figure had completely vanished outside the hall before slowly letting out a breath and striding quickly to the wooden box.
She reached out, her fingertips touching the mahogany lid, feeling the heavy, cool wood.
Gently lifting the lid, a faint, precious light spilled out from within, casting a soft glow upon her cheeks.
The inside of the box was lined with soft black velvet. In the center stood an exquisite ebony hanger, upon which hung the Top-Grade Treasure Armor.
The armor was a dark silver color, its material resembling neither jade nor iron. Faint, intricate patterns flowed across its surface—a defensive formation that could automatically protect its wearer without being activated.
It was form-fitting, looking more like a suit of Inner Armor. It was as thin as a cicada’s wing, yet one could clearly feel the astonishing defensive power it contained. A simple layer of ordinary clothing over it would conceal it perfectly, preventing it from attracting attention.
Si Jiawen reached out and lightly touched the armor’s surface. It felt cool and smooth, yet incredibly tough. A faint repulsive force pushed back against her fingertip, a clear sign of its immense defensive strength.
Another pang of envy struck her.
’If I could have a suit of Top-Grade Treasure Armor like this,’ she thought, ’I’d have an enormous layer of protection whenever I venture out to train or fight.’
But on second thought, her Master was right. The armor was made for a man, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. It truly wouldn’t fit her figure, and forcing it on would only hinder her movement.
She silently reasoned with herself.
’Master isn’t being partial; she’s just putting it to the best use.’
’Besides, while Yang Jing is exceptionally talented, his Cultivation is still only at the Qi Eating Realm. His foundation is not yet stable, and he had suffered considerable injuries in his last battle with Chu Yunhai.’
’This Top-Grade Treasure Armor is far more useful to him than it would be to me.’
’Who knows, it might save his life if he runs into danger in the future.’
Thinking this way, most of the imbalance in her heart dissipated, leaving only a bit of envy and anticipation for her little junior brother.
Si Jiawen gently closed the lid and turned to leave the great hall.
Arriving at Lingxi Plaza, she scanned the area and beckoned to two Inner Sect Disciples who were practicing their fists nearby. "You two, come here."
Seeing her, the two disciples immediately stopped what they were doing and hurried over to Si Jiawen, bowing in respect. "Greetings, Senior Sister!"
"Follow me and carry this box to Qing No. 4 Courtyard on the peak’s waist."
Si Jiawen called the two into the hall and pointed at the mahogany box by her feet, her tone cool.
As the dignified Senior Sister of Lingxi Peak, it would be far too unseemly for her to personally carry a box to a junior brother. Having other disciples run the errand was much more appropriate.
’Master must have considered this when she asked me to deliver it,’ she thought. ’She certainly wouldn’t want to run around carrying a box either.’
"Yes, Senior Sister!" the two disciples replied in unison, quickly stepping forward to lift the wooden box.
The box wasn’t particularly large. The two of them lifted it and cautiously began walking toward the peak’s waist.
Si Jiawen followed close behind with a composed gait, heading straight for Qing No. 4 Courtyard.
Si Jiawen raised a hand to her chest, feeling the Middle-Grade Treasure Armor she wore underneath.
’If the Top-Grade Treasure Armor in the box wasn’t made for a man, I would’ve been tempted to swap them.’
’Of course, it was just a thought. While I don’t have Top-Grade Treasure Armor, I do have a few other types of Top-Grade Treasure Artifacts.’
...
As evening fell.
The last rays of the setting sun filtered through the forests of Lingxi Peak, casting mottled patterns of light and shadow.
Yang Jing walked out of a B-rank Training Room. The Inner Qi roiling within him had calmed, and though a thin sheen of sweat covered his forehead, his eyes were brighter than when he had arrived.
After a full afternoon of arduous cultivation, his proficiency with the Mountain-Breaking Seal had improved significantly, and the internal injuries in his body had also healed a great deal. This left him in an exceptionally good mood.
