Chapter 901 138: Then I'll Have to Compete for First Place Too_2

After Li Qin conveyed the news, she didn't stay long and left. She had been reminded by Lin Chen, and now she needed to inform the elders to see if any remarkable figures had arrived in this alchemy competition.

...

Alchemy Tower.

The news brought by Li Qin did not affect Lin Chen's mood in the slightest. After reviewing several jade scrolls inside the Alchemy Tower, Lin Chen returned to the guest house.

"Are you familiar with 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record' and 'Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture', Yin Yue?"

Lin Chen relayed the news from Li Qin to Yin Yue, including his own speculations.

"You're right. The fact that the Thousand Mechanism Sect has increased the rewards this time, and with such incentives that all alchemists would go crazy for, certainly indicates deeper reasons. Although the Thousand Mechanism Sect can afford to offer the 'Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture', they cannot obtain the 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record', which is an ultimate cultivation technique of Medicine King Valley and can only be practiced by past Valley Masters and Young Valley Masters."

Yin Yue pondered a moment and expressed the same speculation as Lin Chen.

"The Thousand Mechanism Sect may be willing, but Medicine King Valley is a family power that would never be willing. If there is a special figure involved, it is highly likely that someone from Medicine King Valley is participating in this alchemy competition."

Gazing at Lin Chen, Yin Yue continued, "However, solely relying on Medicine King Valley cannot make the Thousand Mechanism Sect cooperate. This matter, unless..."

Yin Yue suddenly fell silent, as if she had thought of something. Lin Chen couldn't help but ask when he saw her stopping mid-sentence, "Unless what?"

"Nothing, perhaps the Thousand Mechanism Sect is also eyeing the 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record' from Medicine King Valley, and both sides have alchemical geniuses born who are confident in securing the first place, thus setting such rewards."

Lin Chen thought for a moment and nodded, "Your analysis makes sense. It seems this alchemy competition will be quite lively."

"Lin Chen, since the Thousand Mechanism Sect and Medicine King Valley both have arranged alchemists, there's no need for you to contend for the first. Since you're not pursuing the path of alchemy, just getting into the top ten is sufficient."

With a smile, Lin Chen replied, "You really think highly of me. I've only practiced alchemy for a short while, and whether I can enter the top ten is uncertain. First place is out of the question. If these two sides weren't confident, how could they dare offer such top-notch rewards?"

Upon hearing Lin Chen's response, Yin Yue breathed a sigh of relief.

If her guess was indeed correct, should Lin Chen actually secure the first place, it would surely disrupt that person's plans. Under the current circumstances where Canglan Sect and Eight Desolates Sect are at war, offending that person would bring trouble to Lin Chen and even to Canglan Sect.

...

Alchemy Tower.

Lin Chen continued his routine, perusing jade scrolls inside the tower. This time, he was browsing a comprehensive directory documenting the Flame Dynasty's alchemical techniques.

[Already recorded 3,000 alchemical techniques…]

['Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture': A creation of Thousand Mechanism Sect's founding elder, the concept of Nine Revolutions refers to refining pills in nine stages, purging impurities, recognized as one of Flame Dynasty's strongest alchemical techniques]

['Taiyi Green Spirit Record': Origin unknown, first revealed by a Medicine King Valley's Valley Master, though rumored to have not been created by them, fusing main and auxiliary materials when creating pills often results in potency loss, yet Taiyi Green Spirit Record preserves the medicinal efficacy, enhancing pill effects by thirty percent compared to other techniques…]

[The author once had the fortune to enter the ruins of an alchemy grandmaster who left behind a jade scroll containing a saying: 'Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture' and 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record' are a single technique, Nine Revolutions being the first volume, Taiyi as the second; combining both can achieve unprecedented heights in the alchemy dao.]

[This saying lacks evidence, the author recorded it casually in leisure, future readers can take it lightly…]

Upon seeing this jade scroll's content, Lin Chen narrowed his eyes slightly. Could the 'Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture' and 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record' be volumes of the same cultivation technique?

If this information is true, it could shock the entire alchemy realm.

Nonetheless, based on what he knew, the Thousand Mechanism Sect and Medicine King Valley seemed to have no interaction, their only common point being alchemy.

It is likely just the private speculation of that alchemy grandmaster, not to be taken seriously…

Just as Lin Chen was ready to continue, his interface popped up.

[Racing Against Time: Comprehend 'Nine Revolutions Cyan Spirit Record', opportunities for martial soul phenomenon if insights are gained.]

Lin Chen: ???

Nine Revolutions Cyan Spirit Record!

Sparkling with a keen light in his eyes, Lin Chen realized that the grandmaster's speculation was correct; 'Nine Revolutions Primordial Scripture' and 'Taiyi Green Spirit Record' indeed constitute the volumes of a single cultivation technique, its real name being 'Nine Revolutions Cyan Spirit Record.'

Lin Chen never doubted the accuracy of [Racing Against Time] because his interface had never been wrong.

"Martial souls lack offensive power, but martial soul maps do possess it. When a martial soul map undergoes a phenomenon, special divine techniques can be comprehended."

Recollecting Yin Yue's explanation about his Martial Soul Sea with the bright moon rising, Lin Chen knew that a martial artist possessing martial soul map phenomena, compared to one having mere maps with no phenomena, has an immense advantage.

"There's an opportunity…"

The phrasing in [Racing Against Time] indicates a chance, not certainty, for phenomena occurrence. Reflecting on previous hints from [Racing Against Time], Lin Chen was remarkably clear that [Racing Against Time] uses language precisely.

Just like doctors from past lives, though absolutely curable, they never speak in definites, only likely probabilities…

According to [Racing Against Time], if he can comprehend 'Nine Revolutions Cyan Spirit Record' and succeed in doing so, phenomena are bound to manifest.

Given this, Lin Chen realized he indeed needed to fight for first place in this alchemy competition.
