As soon as Yun Zijin and Mo Bin entered the elevator, the receptionist immediately pulled out her phone to report the latest intel.

Whenever Yun Zijin was around, the CEO’s mood would always be significantly better than usual.

This was the best time to bring up documents they felt weren’t done well. Even if they got criticized, they wouldn’t get chewed out mercilessly.

Yun Zijin had no idea that the senior executives at the Lu Family hoped every day that she would come to the Lu Family to accompany Lu Yunque at work. That way, even if they messed something up, Lu Yunque’s scolding would be much gentler than usual.

The CEO’s wife—their angelic savior!

Lu Yunque saw right through their little schemes, but the thought of Yun Zijin coming to keep him company at work made him turn a blind eye.

Mo Bin led Yun Zijin into Lu Yunque’s office, then excused himself to return to the conference room for the ongoing meeting.

Yun Zijin made herself at home on the sofa. Just then, a secretary brought in some small cakes and snacks for her.

"Miss Yun, the CEO instructed me to buy these for you."

Knowing that Yun Zijin was coming to the Lu Family, Lu Yunque had instructed his secretary to buy them. The secretary brought them in right as Yun Zijin arrived.

"Thank you. You can just leave them here."

「Dijing University.」

Qin Sitong waited in the pavilion for a while, but when Fu Ze’s mother didn’t show up, she headed back to her dorm.

’If Fu Ze’s mother is really looking for me, she’ll have someone send a message when she gets here,’ she thought. ’There’s no point in me just waiting out here in the cold.’

When He Wanru learned that Fu Ze had found a girlfriend from an ordinary family, she was indeed angry. Her first reaction was to oppose the relationship.

So, she had someone run a background check on Qin Sitong. After reviewing the file, although He Wanru didn’t dislike Qin Sitong, she still felt the girl wasn’t qualified to be her daughter-in-law.

Not just anyone could marry into the Fu Family. With such a mismatch in social standing, it would be awkward in the future when they talked about skincare, cosmetics, beauty treatments, and luxury goods, and Qin Sitong couldn’t contribute to the conversation at all.

As Fu Ze’s mother mulled this over, she tightened her grip on her handbag. Finally, the car stopped directly in front of Qin Sitong’s dormitory.

"She lives here?"

He Wanru didn’t get out of the car right away. Instead, she turned to the driver to confirm if Qin Sitong really lived here.

"If the information you had looked up is correct, then this is the place."

The driver was a veteran who had worked for the Fu Family for many years; he knew what to say and what not to say.

’But,’ he thought, ’sending a text to the young master wouldn’t be against the rules, would it?’

"You, go find someone to call her down."

He Wanru had no intention of getting out of the car to wait; she was determined to make Qin Sitong come and personally invite her.

The driver more or less understood He Wanru’s intentions. Although he felt it was inappropriate, he was just a driver and couldn’t influence what his employer wanted to do. He could only comply, get out of the car, and find someone to help call for Qin Sitong.

With a car from the Fu Family parked so brazenly in front of the women’s dormitory, there was no way Qin Sitong hadn’t heard the commotion.

However, since He Wanru hadn’t gotten out, Qin Sitong couldn’t confirm it was Fu Ze’s mother’s car, so she paid it no mind.

When the driver got out and she saw him approach several people, Qin Sitong became thoughtful.

Before long, there was a knock on her dorm room door.

At this time of day, Qin Sitong was the only one in the room. She didn’t open the door immediately. Instead, she went to the door and asked, "Who is it?"

"Student Qin, there’s a car downstairs looking for you. You should go down quickly!"

The person outside didn’t necessarily need Qin Sitong to open the door; her job was just to deliver the message.

It didn’t matter to her whether Qin Sitong went down or not. After all, she had already received her payment.

Hearing what the person outside said, Qin Sitong finally confirmed that the car downstairs belonged to He Wanru.

"I understand. Thank you for letting me know."

Qin Sitong took a deep breath. After thanking the person outside, she straightened her clothes and hair, checking to make sure everything was in place before opening the door and heading downstairs.

Just then, He Wanru’s phone rang. The caller ID read: My Dearest Son.

However, He Wanru didn’t answer the call, deciding to just let it ring.

Fu Ze sat in his car, listening to the BEEP BEEP BEEP from his phone. When no one answered after a long time, his brow furrowed deeply.

Qin Sitong quickly reached the ground floor and walked up to the black Maybach. The driver, who had been waiting outside the car, saw her and, for some reason, had a gut feeling that this was the person they were looking for.

’I didn’t expect her to be so pretty,’ he thought. ’No wonder the young master likes her.’

"Hello. Someone just told me you were looking for me?"

Even though Fu Ze had given her a heads-up, facing his mother in person still made Qin Sitong extremely nervous.

"Hello! Our madam is looking for you. Miss Qin, if you would please get in the car."

The driver opened the rear passenger door for Qin Sitong. Through the open door, she could vaguely make out the person inside.

Qin Sitong mentally prepared herself, then stepped into the car, sitting as far away from He Wanru as possible. "Hello, Auntie."

He Wanru looked Qin Sitong up and down. "My son must have called you. You know who I am."

He Wanru didn’t introduce herself, instead starting with an abrupt statement.

"Yes. You’re Fu Ze’s mother?"

"Since you know, this will be easier. You’re a Dijing local, so you should know what kind of family the Fu Family is. Do you think you’re a match for my son?"

After speaking, He Wanru simply stared at Qin Sitong.

"Aunt He, that’s something you’ll have to ask Fu Ze. He was the one who pursued me."

The implication was clear: If her own son didn’t see a problem with it, why should she?

Hearing Qin Sitong’s words, He Wanru’s expression clearly soured. Of course she knew Fu Ze had been the pursuer; it was a fact she was very reluctant to admit.

"He pursues you, so you just accept? And you still claim you’re not after the Fu Family’s money!"

Qin Sitong: ...

’If I were really after the Fu Family’s money, I would have been pushing Fu Ze for marriage long ago,’ she thought. ’Why wait until now?’

"I think I need to make one thing clear to you. From the time Fu Ze and I started dating until now, he has spent less than a hundred thousand yuan on me."

They often went on dates for meals, but Qin Sitong would always manage to get out of the car halfway there, and their itinerary would change to eating at some small, inexpensive restaurant.

He Wanru blinked, apparently in disbelief at what she had just heard.

’Her son pursues a girl, the girl accepts, and now I find out my son has been so stingy he’s spent less than 100,000 yuan on her? Doesn’t that mean my trip here today was a complete waste?’

"Of course you wouldn’t mind. Any fool knows how to choose between a one-time payout and becoming a wealthy man’s wife for life."

He Wanru still refused to believe that Qin Sitong had no ulterior motives for being with Fu Ze.

’Girls these days,’ she thought, ’they put on such an act, even they can’t tell what’s real and what’s fake.’

"Say whatever you want. Since you don’t approve, then please, Auntie, have Fu Ze come and tell me himself."
