Because the Situ Family was immensely wealthy, Situ Wenze had even publicly announced that the Situ family was interested in acquiring the Xia Group.

Not only that, but Situ Wenze also arranged a meeting with the Xia father-son duo.

On the very day that Yun Zijin, Su Mengyao, and their friends went out for a spa day, the three men met in a coffee shop downstairs from the Xia Group building.

For a business matter like this, Situ Wenze did not bring Situ Yunliang, Situ Anrui, or Situ Anyu along.

"You’re... Mr. Situ?"

The Xia family hadn’t received an invitation to the Situ Family’s previous banquet, so this was the first time the father and son were meeting Situ Wenze.

When they received Situ Wenze’s invitation yesterday, they were too excited to sleep all night.

Now that they were seeing Situ Wenze in person, they were like starving wolves that had just spotted fresh meat, their eyes practically glowing.

Situ Wenze gave them a slight smile. "Sit."

Just one word, making it impossible to read Situ Wenze’s mood.

"Mr. Situ, it’s an honor to finally meet you. I’m Xia Zhengguang, the chairman of the Xia Group."

"Mr. Situ, hello! I’m Xia Zhiyun, the president of the Xia Group."

"I’m the one who had you invited. Of course I know who you are."

Situ Wenze said, lightly tapping his fingers on the table.

Xia Zhengguang and Xia Zhiyun exchanged a glance, unsure what Situ Wenze meant by such a sudden remark.

"So, you wanted to see us about..."

The father-son duo was naturally hoping to hear what they wanted, but when it came to partnership proposals, it was always the larger company that made the offer to the smaller one.

"I’m sure you’ve heard. My Situ family is interested in acquiring your Xia Group. The majority of the Xia Group’s shares are in your hands. Today... let’s discuss the matter of acquiring those shares."

Situ Wenze was smiling the entire time he spoke, but to the Xia father and son, his words were pushing their patience to the absolute limit.

"Mr. Situ, we’ve never expressed any intention of selling our shares. Your... your request... please forgive us, but we cannot accept."

Xia Zhengguang had sold shares before, but even then, he had only dared to sell off a small portion.

And once the Xia Group recovered, he planned on finding a way to buy them back.

"You must be well aware of the Xia Group’s current situation. Without a capital injection, the only path left is bankruptcy."

’An investment from me is out of the question. That only leaves an acquisition.’

However, while investigating the Xia family, Situ Wenze discovered that nearly half of the Xia Group’s shares were actually in Yun Zijin’s hands.

"Mr. Situ, if you’re looking to partner with the Xia Group, an acquisition isn’t the only option."

Xia Zhiyun still wanted to try and negotiate with Situ Wenze.

Situ Wenze glanced at Xia Zhiyun. They were about the same age, but Situ Wenze felt that this Xia Zhiyun fellow seemed a bit too naive.

’And this guy... is the president of a company? The fact that it’s managed to stay afloat for so many years without collapsing is truly the eighth wonder of the world.’

"This is the optimal solution I’ve arrived at after weighing the pros and cons. Here is the acquisition agreement. You can take a look. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions."

Situ Wenze’s assistant took two contracts out of his briefcase.

He handed one to Xia Zhengguang and the other to Xia Zhiyun.

Both pertained to shares in the Xia Group, but since the holders were different, they each needed to sign their own agreement.

"Mr. Situ, I’m sorry, but we have no intention of selling our shares."

The Xia Group was his life’s work; no matter what, Xia Zhengguang didn’t want to just hand it over so easily.

Although he was furious, the thought of Situ Wenze’s status made Xia Zhengguang suppress his anger.

Situ Wenze was not someone they could afford to offend.

"There’s no rush. Take the agreements back with you. Contact me whenever you’ve come to your senses. However... today, one percentage point of the Xia Group’s stock is still worth 300 million. In a couple of days... that might not be the price."

The Xia Group’s stock had nearly hit its daily trading limit. If they couldn’t find a way to break the deadlock, bankruptcy was their only option.

"Mr. Situ! If you want shares, just invest in the Xia Group, and I guarantee you’ll receive at least ten percent of the company’s stock. What do you say..."

It wasn’t just Xia Zhiyun who didn’t want to give up; Xia Zhengguang was also unwilling to let this hard-won opportunity slip away.

"Given the Xia Group’s current state, an investment would be like throwing money down the drain. Even if you two are trying to swindle me, you don’t have to be so blatant about it, do you?"

This was a fact that neither Xia Zhengguang nor Xia Zhiyun could deny.

"It doesn’t matter that you can’t make a decision right now. I’m confident you’ll come around one day."

’If they don’t agree... then they can’t blame me for what happens next.’

"Mr. Situ, please reconsider! We can definitely get through this crisis!"

The Xia Group had faced bankruptcy before, but it had pulled through in the end.

Although it hadn’t been long before they fell into another crisis, they both believed they could overcome this one as well.

Situ Wenze sneered inwardly. He didn’t tell them that the Xia Group was currently under attack from all sides.

"You can forget about an investment. When you come to your senses, we’ll talk about the acquisition. But I hope you’ll be quick about it. After all... I’m not a very patient man. And the Xia Group can’t hold out for much longer, can it?"

Ever since promising Situ Yunliang that he would deal with the Xia family, Situ Wenze had launched a series of investigations into the Xia Group.

Although the Situ Family’s roots weren’t in Dijing, he had more than enough money to make up for it. The saying "money makes the world go ’round" was no mere cliché.

The Xia Group’s current situation was, one could say, completely within Situ Wenze’s control.

Situ Wenze gave the Xia father-son duo one last look, then casually strolled away.

No matter how the father and son tried to appeal to him, he showed no sign of wavering.

Once Situ Wenze was a good distance away, Xia Zhiyun finally spoke. "Dad, why does the Situ Family suddenly want to acquire the Xia Group?"

The two of them felt they had been on their best behavior recently, not getting into any arguments with anyone.

As for the Situ Family, they had never even met any of them before today.

"You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"

Xia Zhengguang wanted to know the answer himself, but it was a question no one could answer for them.

The Spa.

Qin Sitong, having finally completed her daily tasks for Wangyou Milk Tea, made her fashionably late entrance.

"Tongtong’s here! Hurry up and come in!"

Qin Sitong entered the private room and, following the therapist’s instructions, lay facedown on a massage table.

"We’re all finally here. I was getting worried."

Tu Tutu lifted her head to greet Qin Sitong.

"By the way, Zijin, I’m dying to know... how on earth did you pull off that whole manor thing?"

Countless people were curious as to how Yun Zijin had managed to get the official permits.

"Well... there’s no point in lying to you all. All I can say is that it’s a secret. I signed a non-disclosure agreement."
