Chapter 344: The President Takes the Lead in Skipping Work

"She’s 21, how is she still a child!" Situ Wenze was still sticking up for Situ Yunliang.

In his eyes, Situ Yunliang was only twenty when she gave birth to Yun Zijin. At the time, she was just a little girl who didn’t know any better.

She only left Yun Zijin at the orphanage gate because she was scared.

Besides, the fact that Yun Zijin could now live off rental income in Dijing proved she hadn’t had a bad life all these years.

If her life was good, what was there to complain about?

And now they had come to find her. As the daughter, why couldn’t Yun Zijin be more understanding of her mother’s hardship?

"She’s still a student, so how is she not a child? Keep that foul temper of yours in check. Don’t forget why we came here!"

Their trip to Hua Country wasn’t just about finding Situ Yunliang’s daughter; more importantly, it was to break into the Hua Country market.

Hua Country was a populous nation with a much-improved economy. If they could successfully enter the market there, the Situ Family’s business empire would reach new heights.

Yun Zijin didn’t know about the argument Situ Wenze was having. Of course, even if she did, she wouldn’t have cared.

After he hung up the phone with Situ Wenze, Lu Yunque noticed Yun Zijin’s spirits were low. Wanting to cheer her up, he finished up some urgent paperwork and then decided to skip out of work with her.

"The great CEO of the Lu Group, skipping work so brazenly... Isn’t that a bit much?"

Yun Zijin only spoke up to remind Lu Yunque once they were already in the elevator.

"I’m the boss. This is just me leaving early for personal business, not skipping work."

He didn’t even have to punch a clock; the concept of skipping work didn’t apply to him at all.

"You’re the boss, so you call the shots."

Yun Zijin didn’t burst his bubble, but she had no idea where Lu Yunque was taking her.

"You’ll know when we get there."

Lu Yunque was being mysterious.

The elevator reached the first floor, and the two of them walked out together. As soon as the receptionist saw them, she unconsciously straightened her posture.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Lu! Good afternoon, Miss Yun!"

Lu Yunque gave a slight nod, while Yun Zijin returned the receptionist’s greeting with a sweet smile.

Once the pair had walked past the front desk and only their backs were visible, the receptionist quickly took out her phone, snapped a photo of them from behind, and immediately sent it to the "no-bosses-allowed" employee group chat.

—Everyone: Person above, you’re done for!

Lu Yunque and Yun Zijin had no idea what a buzz their hand-in-hand parade past the front desk had caused in the employee group chat.

After leaving the Lu Group Building, the two got into Lu Yunque’s Rolls-Royce Phantom.

"Where are we actually going? If you don’t tell me, I can’t relax."

Yun Zijin looked at Lu Yunque, her expression making it clear she planned to keep pestering him until he told her.

"We’ll be there soon."

Lu Yunque didn’t say, and he held Yun Zijin’s hand the entire way without letting go.

Lu Yunque had said "soon," but it was actually over an hour before the car finally stopped. By that point, Yun Zijin had nearly fallen asleep.

When the car stopped, Yun Zijin was leaning against Lu Yunque’s chest.

"We’re here."

Lu Yunque gently poked Yun Zijin’s cheek, creating a small dimple that bounced right back, full of collagen.

"We’re here?"

Yun Zijin lifted her head from Lu Yunque’s embrace and peered out the car window.

"Mhm, we’re here."

Lu Yunque didn’t rush to get out, giving Yun Zijin a moment to collect herself and wake up fully.

Yun Zijin took a wet wipe from her purse, and after wiping her face, she was completely awake.

"Okay, let’s go! Time to get out!"

After making sure Yun Zijin was okay, Lu Yunque got out first, then reached out a hand to help her down.

Yun Zijin had been looking down, only raising her head after she stepped out of the car.

A vast expanse of Hua Hai suddenly and unexpectedly filled her vision.

No girl dislikes flowers. If one bouquet isn’t enough, it just means you didn’t bring enough flowers.

And this expanse of Hua Hai struck a chord deep within Yun Zijin’s soul.

"It’s so beautiful! How did you find this place?"

Yun Zijin looked around, guessing that this place probably wasn’t open to the public.

Otherwise, such a gorgeous Hua Hai would have been discovered long ago.

"This is a piece of land I bought years ago, but the Lu Group never ended up using it for any of its project plans.

I thought it was a waste to just let it sit here, so I had someone come and develop it a bit. It’s not open to the public, though.

There’s a small cabin over there. When Li Yuexing and our other friends feel like coming out here, that’s where we’ll go.

Want to go see it?"

Lu Yunque held Yun Zijin’s hand and turned to hear her opinion.

"Yes!"

A small cabin in the middle of Hua Hai... the very idea sounded poetic and picturesque, and Yun Zijin was very interested.

Seeing Yun Zijin’s enthusiasm, the corners of Lu Yunque’s mouth lifted slightly.

’Finally cheered her up. If even Hua Hai couldn’t cure her bad mood, I really wouldn’t know what else to do.’

Lu Yunque led Yun Zijin into Hua Hai. After walking for a minute or two, they saw the small cabin at the top of a slope.

Probably due to the aesthetic sense of a few grown men, the cabin wasn’t overly decorated and kept its natural wood color.

But they had clearly spared no expense on the materials. Yun Zijin could tell just by touching it that the entire cabin was built with high-quality solid wood.

Even the root table and stools in the yard were genuine root carvings.

This little cabin alone must have cost a fortune to build.

’As expected of Mr. Lu,’ she thought. ’He really spends his money on substance.’

"The cabin has electricity, and someone comes by regularly to clean out and restock the fridge. Want to go see what’s inside?"

Although it was called a small cabin, it was a classic case of a sparrow being small but having all its vital organs—it had everything.

Besides four bedrooms, the cabin also had a living room, kitchen, dining room, and so on.

Hearing Lu Yunque’s words, Yun Zijin also grew curious about what might be in the fridge.

The two went to the kitchen, and opening the refrigerator, they saw it was packed with a wide array of items.

There were fresh vegetables, various meats, and also wine and other drinks.

Looking at the contents, an idea suddenly struck Lu Yunque.

"Zijin, let’s have dinner here tonight. I’ll cook for you."

Lu Yunque remembered that they had been together for so long, yet he had never shown off his cooking skills to Yun Zijin.

While he couldn’t claim to be on par with a professional chef, his food was definitely not bad.

"You can cook?"

Yun Zijin had assumed that someone of Lu Yunque’s status would be the type who had never had to lift a finger in his life.

"Of course. When I was studying abroad, I had to be completely self-reliant."

Although he lived in a place he’d bought in the best part of town, Lu Yunque disliked having strangers in his personal space, so he always did things himself.

At most, for cleaning, he would hire temporary help on a regular basis, and even then, Lu Yunque had to supervise the entire time to feel at ease.
