Chapter 2205: Chapter 1920: Settled_2
"Xiaoran is right, Song Yun, you need to leave, now." Lang Gu glanced at Xiaoran, a look of tender affection flashing across his face, then said in a deep voice, "Song Yun, take Xiaoran with you as well. Hurry, or the Spirit Judge will be back."
The others also looked at Song Yun with grim expressions, all thinking he had no way to handle the Spirit Judge.
Song Yun was unmoved and said in a low voice, "All of you listen to me. Get into the tribe and hide, or it’ll only lead to pointless casualties."
Lang Gu frowned and shook his head. "Song Yun, there’s no way you can defeat the Spirit Judge."
"Who said I’m trying to defeat him?"
Song Yun’s lips curled into a faint smile, then his expression hardened as he addressed everyone: "Move! If you don’t fall back now, it’ll be too late. Do you all have a death wish?"
"Go, fall back into the tribe."
Lang Gu hesitated for a moment, then steeled himself, grabbed Lang Xiaoran, and led the people of the Five-Clan Alliance to retreat into the tribe.
They found cover and watched the situation outside the tribe from a distance.
"Roar!"
At the very instant the people of the Five-Clan Alliance finished hiding, a shrill cry rang out, making everyone’s ears ache.
Next, they saw a black shadow charging in from afar.
That black shadow was the Spirit Judge.
Killing intent and fury poured off the Spirit Judge as if solid, his aura raging, as though he meant to obliterate everything before his eyes.
In the grove, the Spirit Judge had found that empty core bottle, and only then realized Song Yun had played him. He immediately flew into a violent rage.
He had no patience for trading words with Song Yun and struck out directly.
When he moved, his actions were a bit strange. He didn’t stride forward, but kicked off with both legs on the ground, advancing in leaps.
But his speed was extremely fast; in an instant he was in front of Song Yun.
The hand hidden within his black robe suddenly lashed out toward Song Yun.
A powerful aura crashed down, air waves surging. The already-collapsed wooden stake palisade behind Song Yun was blown backward by the blast, smashing into the Wolf Spirit Clan’s wooden stockade. Houses collapsed, a chaotic mess.
Such overwhelming force shocked everyone.
The people of the Five-Clan Alliance hurriedly ducked for cover, stunned by the Spirit Judge’s terrifying power.
"That fierce!"
Song Yun’s heart gave a jolt; the Spirit Judge’s combat strength was beyond his expectations.
His figure flickered as he quickly dodged to the side.
But he didn’t have enough True Qi to use Phantom Step, so his speed lagged by half a beat—but fortunately, he avoided a vital spot.
Bang—boom.
The Spirit Judge’s fist smashed into Song Yun’s shoulder. Even with his Primordial Body, Song Yun was sent flying backward, his shoulder a bloody mess, bones shattered.
Doubt surfaced in the Spirit Judge’s eyes.
He clearly hadn’t expected that an sss-level peak outsider, without using True Qi to defend, wouldn’t be killed outright by a single punch from him.
This man’s physical toughness was greater than that of some spirit beasts.
Song Yun crashed to the ground, his body covered in dust. That strike had left his shoulder throbbing with agony; the injury was no light one.
"Song Yun!"
From behind the collapsed houses of the Langling Clan Tribe, Lang Xiaoran cried out in worry, about to rush out.
"Get back! Don’t make things worse for me."
Song Yun barked in a deep voice, and only then did Lang Xiaoran halt, looking to Lang Gu, her eyes shimmering with tears. "Father, what do we do? Please save Song Yun."
Lang Gu’s expression was grave as he shook his head. "None of us are a match for the Spirit Judge. Right now we can only rely on Song Yun. Hopefully... he can prevail."
Even so, everyone present had no confidence in Song Yun.
"Roar!"
The Spirit Judge let out a long howl, leaping up and streaking to Song Yun’s side, his palm clawing toward Song Yun’s neck.
"Looks like I can only gamble it all."
Song Yun’s face tightened; he didn’t dodge. He pushed his Primordial Body to its limit, focusing all his defense on his neck.
In the next instant, the Spirit Judge’s claw seized his neck and squeezed hard, cutting off his breath.
However, the Spirit Judge didn’t rush to kill him.
The Spirit Judge hooked something with his foot, and a broken length of wooden stake flipped into his left hand. With a series of swift strokes he scratched several characters into the ground, then stared coldly at Song Yun with those twin red eyes.
"What the hell did you write? I can’t see."
Song Yun’s face flushed red as he gasped for air, forcing out the words with difficulty.
The Spirit Judge’s hand loosened a bit, and Song Yun sucked in great gulps of air. He lowered his head for a look and saw written on the ground: "Speak. Where is the treasure? Or I’ll kill you."
"The treasure is..."
Song Yun dragged out his words, and the Spirit Judge’s eyes widened, full of anticipation.
"Over there."
Song Yun’s right hand, which had never moved, slowly lifted, hovering above the Spirit Judge’s head, his finger pointing off into the distance.
The Spirit Judge reacted on instinct and turned his head to look.
In that split second, Song Yun’s palm suddenly spread open, a "Demon Taming Seal" appeared, then sharply shrank to a point and drilled into the Spirit Judge’s skull.
Song Yun had been preparing for a long time; he burned through all the True Qi he’d just recovered and unleashed the Demon Taming Technique.
"Yin!"
The Spirit Judge felt something burrow into his consciousness. He let out a howl of agony, released Song Yun’s neck, clutched his head with both hands, and shook it madly, as if trying to fling the Demon Taming Seal out.
Song Yun’s figure moved; he retreated backward and watched the Spirit Judge from a distance.
The Demon Taming Technique is meant for dealing with Core Formation Realm spirit beasts; using it to tame a Late-stage Foundation Establishment Spirit Judge is really overkill.
Of course, the effect was instant.
In just a few seconds, the Spirit Judge went still, bending over and crouching on the ground like a four-legged animal.
"Hah, done!"
Song Yun let out a breath and walked toward the Spirit Judge. The Spirit Judge lifted his head to look at him, his red eyes full of hatred, wanting to attack, but his body simply wouldn’t move.
A beast tamed by the Demon Taming Technique is completely controlled by its master’s will.
Right now Song Yun was the Spirit Judge’s master; it wanting to harm its master was absolutely impossible.
"You still dare glare at me? Looking for death!"
Song Yun walked up and kicked the Spirit Judge. The power of his Primordial Body was no joke; with the Spirit Judge completely undefended, the blow had him howling nonstop.
"That’s for acting all high and mighty."
"That’s for hitting me."
"You really thought you were something, huh."
Song Yun laid into the Spirit Judge with a savage beating, just like some street punk brawling by the roadside—no technique at all, just punches and kicks.
Yet the Spirit Judge didn’t put up any resistance.
Seeing this scene, the people of the Five-Clan Alliance were all dumbfounded.
What was going on? The Spirit Judge was a Late-stage Foundation Establishment powerhouse, and he was getting thrashed by Song Yun like this?
Even stranger, why wasn’t he fighting back?
Bao Wei snapped out of it, confusion on his face as he said, "Right, just now what Mr. Song used looked like the Beast Taming Technique that the Alliance Hierarch and Gu Feng used when they formed a Beast Spirit Contract."
Hu Guang muttered, "But the Spirit Judge isn’t a spirit beast. How could the Beast Taming Technique work on him?"
Chong Jiang gave a mocking chuckle, looking speechless as he said, "Whatever the case, the Spirit Judge really does seem to have been taken care of by Mr. Song."
"Everyone, let’s go take a look."
Lang Gu waved his hand, and the Five-Clan Alliance members hiding in the Langling Clan Tribe all came out.
Once they got close, Song Yun was still beating on the Spirit Judge.
"Song Yun, are you okay?"
Lang Xiaoran stepped forward to ask, and only then did Song Yun stop.
He glanced at his right arm with its broken bones, then smiled at Lang Xiaoran. "I’m fine. This little injury will be healed in two days."
At this moment, Song Yun noticed the puzzlement in everyone’s eyes. Before anyone could ask, he took the initiative to explain: "Don’t be shocked. The Spirit Judge is actually a spirit beast, and now I’ve already tamed him."
What, the Spirit Judge is a spirit beast!?
They had somewhat suspected it, but getting Song Yun’s definite answer still left everyone deeply astonished.
Lang Gu understood now. No wonder Song Yun had said earlier he wasn’t aiming to defeat the Spirit Judge—turns out he was planning to tame him.
But it had been a hell of a gamble; one misstep and it could have cost him his life.
Then, thinking it through, this seemed to be the only way to deal with the Spirit Judge.
And besides, Song Yun would gain a powerful contract spirit beast out of it—it was killing two birds with one stone.
After a brief silence, Lang Gu sighed. "The Spirit Judge who ruled the Beast Spirit Clan for so many years turns out to be a spirit beast. No wonder he hid his form and couldn’t speak. I just don’t know what kind of spirit beast he actually is."
Song Yun reached out and grabbed the Spirit Judge’s black robe. "Let’s pull it off and see."
