Chapter 1241: Chapter 1213: No... What Effort?

Yu Minglang was unwavering when it came to his wife’s health.

"I didn’t plan to donate to him, and even if I did, it might not be a match. My mom’s concern is that he might come here and cause trouble. That man stops at nothing for his own interests."

Qian’s mom mostly worried about the consequences if Chen Lin actually went to Qian’s school or workplace to make a scene. Given that both Minglang and Qian are respectable people, outsiders wouldn’t know how Chen Lin treated Qian and might criticize her for neglecting her biological father. What would people think of Qian?

Although Qian’s mom usually wasn’t bright and was quite superstitious, she was thorough when it came to protecting her daughter. She imagined countless vicious tactics Chen Lin might use; after all those years together, she knew his character well.

Yu Minglang pondered for a moment, "I’ll handle this matter."

"I can take care of it myself."

"You don’t need to worry about these things, focus on nurturing your pregnancy."

This phrase was warm at first hearing, but hearing it repeatedly inevitably created some pressure, which darkened Qian’s expression.

After their recent conversation, Yu Minglang softened his heart as he considered her words.

"Is staying home really that boring?"

"Yes!!" She nodded vigorously.

For someone used to intellectual work, suddenly idling was uncomfortable. Work was no longer a mere tool for making money for Qian; it was a step towards realizing her self-worth and fulfilling the highest spiritual needs.

"Tell me about the job Qio Yu Xuan found for you. What exactly will you be doing? Will interacting with a bunch of problematic people affect your mood?"

Qian sensed an opportunity and quickly explained, "It’s not tiring! Being with a bunch of little toddlers is super cute. The parents are all very courteous. In their eyes, we’re like magicians. I want to take this opportunity to relive the feeling of being with kids."

Considering how many years have passed since she raised a child in her previous life, she’d long forgotten how to raise children. This was a perfect chance to experiment.

"Relive?"

"I mean, find the feeling in advance."

Yu Minglang thought for a bit, "Then next time, I’ll go with you to check it out. If your body can handle it, then go for it."

"Huh...?"

Qian was surprised by his easygoing attitude; hadn’t he been insistent on her resting?

Yu Minglang touched her belly, "Resting is for your good. But if you don’t like it, then using ’for your good’ as a reason to upset you isn’t right. I didn’t consider things thoroughly enough, but since Qio Yu Xuan thought of it, I’m grateful to him."

As spouses, they must think from each other’s perspectives. Had Yu Minglang not heard Qian’s heartfelt words, he would have continued caring for her in the way he deemed best. However, now his concern was pressuring Qian, prompting him to reflect.

Qian was delighted, "I must tell our daughter in the future to choose a man who is not afflicted with ’straight male cancer’ but who communicates well and thinks from others’ perspectives like her dad!"

Praised, Yu Minglang nearly lost his rationality. He wanted to tease a bit, recalling just moments ago someone who had looked at him disdainfully, wishing he’d get lost.

"It’s time for prenatal education. Do you want to discuss ’Yuan Qu’ with me?"

Oh my! Happiness came so suddenly! Yu Minglang forgot what he wanted to say; he was instantly delighted by the unexpected bonus. How could he refuse!

The details of their discussion that night need not be elaborated; suffice it to say it was excellent.

When Qian next went to the hospital to give a lecture, Yu Minglang deliberately took an hour off to accompany her. Seeing a room full of little ones crawling everywhere and noticing Qian so happy, Yu Minglang felt relieved.

Considering that she only engaged with them for 20 minutes a week, and they were all innocent children, with Qian enjoying herself and needed by the parents, Yu Minglang decided to support her.

The idea had been proposed by Qio Yu Xuan, which inexplicably made Yu Minglang jealous. Now, seeing Qian so engrossed, he felt he should express gratitude to Qio Yu Xuan, so he considered calling but thought a mere phone call was insincere. Better he personally visit, buying some gifts as thanks.

Yu Minglang was the type of person who, once convinced, would thank anyone who treated Qian well, regardless of past jealousy towards Qio Yu Xuan.

Qio Yu Xuan had bought a house near Qian’s university, though he was mostly away due to his busy global affairs. Yu Minglang knew he was home because Qio Yu Xuan had called Qian last night, so Xiaoqiang didn’t bother to notify him--he just bought some gifts and headed over.

Qio Yu Xuan valued life’s quality; his house was in a high-end district near the school, where entry required either card swipe or homeowner notification. Yu Minglang, disliking the hassle, simply vaulted the walls, using his physical prowess. Behind this community were high-rises and a few front-row villas; Qio Yu Xuan resided among the villas.

Upon arrival, Yu Minglang saw that the door of Qio Yu Xuan’s house was tightly sealed. After realizing the doorbell seemed broken, he intended to hang the gift on the door, call him, then leave. However, he noticed a fleeting shadow from a bedroom window on the villa’s second floor, confirming someone’s presence inside.

Why would someone lock the door from inside?

Feeling puzzled, Yu Minglang surveyed the villa’s design. Though equipped with anti-theft walls, these posed no challenge for Yu Minglang. He climbed from the outer wall, craftily bypassing the infrared alarms, entering the courtyard with ease.

This villa should have door sensors, and lacking tools to quietly enter, he noticed an open window in a room on the second floor. He placed his gift down, quickly climbed in through the window, executing each action flawlessly.

Once inside, it was a European-decorated bedroom, empty. As Yu Minglang surveyed the room, he heard voices and swiftly hid behind the curtains when the door opened as someone entered.

"Where does Qio usually hide things? He’s not here now, hurry up and tell me so I can find them!"

The person who entered sounded like a young man, somewhat familiar, though Yu Minglang couldn’t recall where he’d heard the voice. Yet the content made him wary.

"Nonsense! If he was home, would I ask you where he hides things? Seizing the chance while he’s away, I’ll steal and be gone—where will he find me?"

This person was quite arrogant, and it was unclear to whom he spoke.
