Chapter 1219: Chapter 1191: Found a Breakthrough

"I don’t believe we can’t get them to talk!"

The captain was troubled, "We want to investigate too, but you know our regulations. We can’t beat or insult them into confessing. If they insist on not admitting, we genuinely have no other evidence."

Qian listened and let out a cold laugh, "No beating, no insulting, no forcing confessions—if we achieve these points and get them to speak, that’s enough, right?"

"Yes, the problem is how to achieve it?" The captain was very distressed, knowing the other party wasn’t telling the truth, but there was no evidence.

"Let me talk to them one-on-one," Qian said.

"You?" The captain was somewhat surprised. From Qian’s actions feeding Yu Minglang, he guessed she might be ’one’s’ wife, but he had never heard of a wife getting involved in her husband’s work.

"She’s my beloved, a renowned psychologist, also a member of the out-of-town psychological intervention group where I used to work. In special cases, she can participate in psychological analysis work," Yu Minglang introduced Qian, and upon his words, the other party remembered.

"Oh my! Aren’t you the famous doctor who talked the serial case’s main criminal into a breakdown last time?"

Last time, a serial case’s main criminal kidnapped Wang Xiaohong. It was a very formidable female doctor who cooperated with ’one’ to bring the person back.

At that time, the captain hadn’t been transferred yet, so he hadn’t personally witnessed Qian’s prowess; he only heard people mention that the incident was practically miraculous. Qian was the first to create a miracle using psychological methods, leaving behind a legend of her own internally.

"My wife did it."

"My husband also played a crucial role."

The couple praised each other, and the captain was fed a mouthful of dog food, but it was worth seeing the legendary figures being affectionate to each other.

"I’ll leave it up to you then," The captain looked at Qian with admiration, then with an odd look at Yu Minglang.

"My wife is on the case, rest assured, she never does anything without confidence," Yu Minglang presumed the captain was worried Qian wouldn’t handle it well, thus he spoke to comfort him.

The captain shook his head, "Actually, I wanted to remind you, you’re not going to wipe that ice cream stain off your mouth before going in? Although many in our team are your admirers, in a place mostly full of bachelors, showing off your marital affection might easily get you gang-beaten..."

"!!!" Xiaoqiang looked at Qian, and Qian winked at him.

Well, she’s pregnant, and a pregnant woman making small mistakes can actually be forgiven... right!

Qian went inside, looking around each interrogation room.

The three individuals were being interrogated separately; Qian looked through the glass of the interrogation room for a while and asked Yu Minglang.

"Which one do you think is the mastermind? Or rather, who seems to have more value?"

"The one in the green clothes in the second interrogation room," Yu Minglang answered by intuition.

Although all three firmly claimed to be mere errand runners, the one in the green clothes clearly had a fiercer look, and his words were cunningly different from the other two.

Qian nodded, "Great minds think alike. I also feel that way. The ferocity in his gaze and the feigned cowardice in his words don’t match proportionately. I’ll start with finding a breakthrough with him."

Yu Minglang agreed with the sentiment, called the captain over, and asked for the individuals’ details.

Searching the information databases turned up no relevant info on this person. Either he hadn’t left any record before, or he was too cunning and hadn’t been caught.

Qian wasn’t proficient here and left finding the breakthrough to Yu Minglang, who examined the person’s existing profile along with items confiscated from him and his car, finally reaching a conclusion.

,"This person should have a son, aged between 6 to 10 years old—use this as a breakthrough and attack his psychological defenses."

Qian nodded, understanding.

Others were astonished, mouth agape, "one, how did you figure that out?"

Yu Minglang lifted the evidence bag containing a transparent pocket, "His car keys have a doll attached; adults usually wouldn’t look at this, but my nephew recently seems fond of it."

"Maybe he’s young at heart? Also, checking his household registration shows he’s unmarried."

"Who says a child must be born in wedlock? He’s definitely not young at heart; look at here," Yu Minglang pointed to the green-clothed man’s waist, "There’s a cartoon symbol drawn with a ballpoint pen behind his belt—my nephew drew on his dad’s belt similarly, it’s said to be for protection based on a cartoon."

When the child draws, he must hope for his father’s safety, not knowing his father has already committed terrible crimes, and a safety symbol can’t save him anymore.

Yu Minglang looked at Qian, and Qian nodded, knowing what to do.

The green-clothed man sat in the chair, thinking as he saw a woman enter that it was another shift in interrogators; he let a sarcastic smile curl his lips—want to play a war of attrition with him?

When he looked closely, it was Qian. His eyes suddenly flared with a murderous aura—he’d seen Qian’s photo, knowing the big brother wanted her dead.

He hadn’t expected this girl to have a huge stroke of luck; she actually managed to escape!

Qian feigned ignorance of his vicious gaze, pulled out a chair, and sat across from him.

"You have eyes like a wild beast, filled with murderous intent towards me, like a beast chasing its prey." This was Qian’s opening line.

"I know nothing, I was just asked to smash your car,"

As in previous interrogations, this man stubbornly clung to his story.

Qian didn’t argue with him and turned her head, looking out the window.

"This year’s winter is warmer than before; your hometown’s in the countryside of this province, right?"

The man warily watched Qian, unsure of what she intended.

"My grandma’s place is rural too; when spring comes it’ll be busy with farming matters, won’t it? You’re only thirty this year, supposed to be at the prime of life. Parents and kids all left in the countryside, do you think they might miss you? Currently, the rivers haven’t completely iced over, perhaps your son hopes you’ll go back and smash a hole in the ice to fish with him or something."

"What I’ve done is my own doing, nothing to do with my family." Hearing Qian mention his family, the man’s face immediately changed.

Changing is good to handle, Qian slightly moved her mouth. Family is the breakthrough for this guy, and his reaction also proved Xiaoqiang’s guess was entirely correct.

"At this point, what benefits do you gain by insisting Mu Xiaofeng is the mastermind? Our investigators will soon uncover your past crimes. Even without my case, you’re doomed to spend many years inside. Don’t think you can fool us—revealing the mastermind could get you a reduced sentence."

"Mu Xiaofeng instructed me!"

"Heh heh, I just finished a call with her, the record’s still in my phone. Want to see it?" Qian waved her phone, "I’ve had her father buried so well, wouldn’t she thank me? When you guys were fiddling with the elevator, I was just onsite, and she managed to rush out to save me. Does our relationship need any more explanation from me to you?"
