Chapter 1215: Chapter 1187: Who Washes the Dishes at Home? (2000+ Monthly Ticket Update)
"It’s okay. Mom, curl up and sit down, and whatever you see later, don’t be scared, it’ll be fine." Qian soothed her mother as she told her to lie down on the floor and reclined the passenger seat to use it as cover, while reaching to the front to look for Fugui’s phone.
Her own phone was dead.
She called the police and didn’t even care what the operator said; Qian rattled off the location and what was happening in one breath, and hung up as soon as she finished. Those people had already walked up to the car and started banging on the door, ordering Qian to get out.
Qian’s mom was so terrified she didn’t dare breathe. Qian, still calm, dialed Yu Minglang’s number again; luckily this time the line wasn’t busy.
"Xiaoqiang, our car’s been blocked in, we’re stuck in it. The location is..."
"Are you in danger?!" Yu Minglang had just found out that Mu Xiaofeng had been rescued by someone and was driving toward the maternal and child health hospital, planning to meet up with Qian. Hearing that Qian had run into trouble again, his heart felt like it was shattering.
Before Qian could answer, Yu Minglang heard a huge crash!
It sounded like glass breaking! Someone was smashing the car window!!
"Qian!!"
He let out a heart‑rending shout, but on the other end Qian’s line cut off. Yu Minglang had absolutely no idea what his wife had run into, and he was frantic.
He was driving himself, having just split up from his colleagues. By his calculation, he wasn’t far from where Qian said she was, just two blocks away, so Xiaoqiang stomped on the gas and sped in that direction; at this speed he’d be there in under five minutes.
But five minutes—five minutes is enough for a lot to happen! A few burly guys with iron bars going at one pregnant woman—forget five, one minute is enough to kill her!
Qian, wait for me!!
Yu Minglang kept praying in his heart as he raced over.
"You bitch! Get out of the car!" The men outside were yelling, iron rods thudding against the car with heavy bangs. The rear window had already been smashed; luckily Qian had shielded her mom with the seat, otherwise the flying glass would have been disastrous.
"Qian’er, what do we do, what do we do..." Qian’er’s mom was crying in fear. "How about Mom gets out there, let them hit me, I’ll beg them to let you go, you’re still carrying a child!"
"Don’t get out!" Right now all Qian could do was pray that Fugui’s car was sturdy enough, and that reinforcements would hurry up.
Just as those men shattered the glass and reached in, trying to grab Qian’s hair, suddenly a skinny hand shot out and clamped down right on the guy’s wrist.
"Sir, your murderous intent is too strong. This is not good for you."
The guy who had been about to grab Qian looked sideways and realized that at some point, a woman in sportswear had appeared beside him. She was slim and short, decently pretty with neat short hair, looked just over thirty, but her eyes already had that worldly‑seen‑through clarity, very steady.
The thug tried to yank away from this woman who had appeared out of nowhere, only to find his wrist hurting like hell in her grip; no matter how he shook, he couldn’t break free, like it was clamped in a vise.
"Let go!"
"If I let you go, you’ll be creating a karmic obstacle, starting a killing spree that does you no good. Why not pull back in time?" The woman’s clothes were modern, but her speech and manner carried a kind of otherworldly air.
"Damn it, get lost!" The man being held flew into a rage from embarrassment and swung his rod at the woman along with his buddies.
"Watch out!" From inside the car, Qian saw this and couldn’t help breaking out in a cold sweat for the woman who was helping them.
She was so skinny, and not tall at all—how could she be a match for these guys?
Plus the one who’d just gotten out of the small car behind them—altogether there were three men holding iron rods, all of them big and burly, clearly trained.
Qian really wanted to tell this woman to just leave, not to get dragged into this mess, but there was no time for Qian to shout anything now; the woman was already in the thick of it.
But to everyone’s surprise, even though the three men all had weapons, not one of them could so much as touch this woman. Her movements were lightning fast, and every punch and kick carried a vicious edge totally at odds with her calm exterior.
"You little punks, all of you are so hot‑headed. Here, you two, clear your heads!"
"You dare bully my disciple‑in‑law—just beating you is letting you off easy!"
After she said that, the woman grabbed one guy’s head in each hand and slammed the two scumbags’ heads together with force. There was a loud crack, and the two clutched their foreheads and screamed in pain.
Good lord, where did this female fiend come from!
They’d thought three strong hands would be more than enough to deal with one Chen Xiaoqian; who knew a Cheng Yaojin would jump in halfway, with combat power off the charts—she took down two of them with ease in her first move.
The third man circled around behind the woman with his iron bar, raising it to smack her on the head. Before he could bring it down, a sharp pain shot through his hand.
He turned his head and saw Yu Minglang, face full of killing intent, gripping his wrist. Minglang kicked hard at the back of his knees, and the would‑be sneak attacker dropped to his knees. Minglang had screeched in, and the moment he arrived he saw Fugui’s car smashed to pieces and one woman fighting three men, so he jumped in just in time.
Yu Minglang could feel that even if he hadn’t stepped in, this woman wouldn’t have lost; she looked completely at ease.
Yu Minglang and the woman worked together to subdue the three men. Seeing the iron rods they were holding, a murderous fury flashed through Minglang; he walked over and stomped hard on their hands. These claws were too damn vile—if not for someone stepping in, his woman would’ve been in real danger.
"Hubby!"
Qian climbed out of the car; seeing him felt like a lifetime had passed.
Yu Minglang’s suit was still the same one from work—he hadn’t even had time to change, just rushed straight over.
Seeing Qian, his heart trembled; he hurriedly pulled her into his arms and gently smoothed her hair.
"Were you scared? I’m late, I let you get frightened."
"I’m okay. Thanks to this sister jumping in to save us in time, it’s just the car that got smashed." Qian had been scared a bit just now, but she’d calmed down a lot by this point. With Yu Minglang here, she wasn’t afraid of anything.
"Don’t call me ’sister,’ wrong generation. Hello, you two, I’m Chang Xiangsi."
That name...
Pretty distinctive. "Chang Xiangsi" is the name of a poetic tune; it’s the first time they’d heard anyone actually called that.
After introducing herself to Qian and Yu Minglang, the woman walked straight over to the big truck. Fugui was still tied up. She untied the rope around Fugui and removed the cloth blocking his mouth.
"Thank you. I, I was no help at all and even needed a woman to rescue me. I’m ashamed."
Fugui was eaten up with guilt. He was just a frail bookish type, with no stamina or anything—he’d been KO’d in one hit and then had to watch Qian and his stepmother in danger. The guilt and self‑reproach were indescribable. Now that their savior was untying him, he hastily bent at the waist and bowed to thank her.
Chang Xiangsi calmly accepted his bow, then tilted her head, looking him up and down while slowly shaking her own.
"Tsk, tsk, this is a Wenqu Star all right—Wenqu governs literary fortune. I knew you were a scholar, but I didn’t expect you to be this weak. Still, being weak has its perks: you can’t beat my disciple. Hey, let me ask you, who does the dishes at home?"
