Chapter 1210: Chapter 1182: Welcoming the Newcomer (1700+ Monthly Votes Update)
Qian didn’t understand why Mingyi suddenly changed his expression and looked at her with confusion.
Mingyi was anxious inside, hoping he wouldn’t embarrass himself; there were so many people in the room, including Uncle Liao and Fugui. He hoped he wouldn’t wet himself again...
He was feeling hurried, but his body was completely out of control. Another wave of heat hit him, and he wished he could find a hole to crawl into.
Someone knocked on the door, and while Fugui went to open it, Mingyi stood up with a red face, wanting to go into the inner room to change clothes, since he was wearing a lot in the winter, hoping no one noticed.
"Daddy~" Panpan saw the newcomer and happily dashed over. His second brother, who came to pick up his wife and child, embraced Panpan, lifted him high, put down his son, and then looked at his wife. He instantly felt something was wrong; why did his wife’s face look so strange?
"Mingyi, what’s wrong?" He hurried over to Mingyi’s side.
Mingyi, feeling embarrassed in front of the entire room, whispered something in his brother’s ear. His brother was initially startled, then reflexively looked down. Just then, another wave came, this time flowing down his pants onto the floor...
"Quick! Mingyi is going to give birth!" As expected from a man who had read parenting guides for months, the second brother understood far better than Mingyi. Just one look and he knew what was happening.
"Giving birth?!" Everyone was surprised; it wasn’t due yet!
"Her water broke. Quick, get Mingyi to change clothes inside, and I’ll drive her to the hospital immediately." The second brother instructed while calling his mother at home, asking her to rush to the hospital with the prepared birth package.
The group hastily helped Mingyi change clothes, and during this, Liumei didn’t forget to praise the second brother a few times.
"No wonder he’s a pilot, so calm in the face of crisis. His mind works so well."
Fugui wanted to compliment him too, but on looking down, he saw the second brother wearing one slipper and one shoe, carrying Mingyi out. He chuckled out loud.
"I think he’s not as calm as he appears, right?"
You don’t understand the inner world of a stoic!
Mingyi’s due date was supposed to be a month later, but she unexpectedly went into labor early. Later, everyone jokingly said it was because Qian had praised her, as Qian wasn’t usually one to give compliments, and when she did, a big, healthy son came out!
At the hospital, Mrs. Yu arrived quickly. Mingyi was pushed into the delivery room while the second brother, holding Panpan, waited anxiously outside with the others, including the card-playing girlfriends.
Today was coincidentally quiet, with no one else giving birth—just this family. Mingyi went in but there was no movement. The normally calm Mr. Yu looked pale, pacing back and forth outside, with Panpan mimicking his worried posture.
Qian was contemplating what to say to disperse the anxiety when suddenly a loud cry came from the delivery room, shaking everyone. Did this mean the baby was born?
"This is so fast..." Qian looked at the clock—it had been less than ten minutes since she was inside the delivery room; the speed was remarkable.
No one anticipated the baby would come out so quickly. The second brother and Panpan had been worried for less than 10 minutes when the sound of their baby’s cries filled the room.
Mrs. Yu and Qian’s mom exchanged glances, wondering what was happening.
Mr. Yu was still hurrying from work, and though Grandpa hadn’t arrived yet, the baby came out first.
The delivery room door opened, and the vice president of the hospital removed his mask to congratulate Mrs. Yu.
"Congratulations, old classmate, it’s a boy. Although he’s twenty days premature, he’s quite healthy, weighing 5 pounds 2 ounces."
"How’s my wife?" Yu Mingyi asked urgently.
"Your wife is in good spirits. Although the baby arrived 3 weeks early, he’s already past 37 weeks, so technically he’s not considered a premature baby. All his bodily functions are fine. If you’re not reassured, you can observe him in the incubator for a couple of days."
Upon hearing that mother and baby were safe, everyone was relieved. The little baby was quickly brought out; although he announced himself with strong cries of a healthy baby, for safety, he was placed in the incubator for observation. Mrs. Yu laughed joyfully upon seeing the baby, saying he resembled the second brother when he was little.
Mingyi also came out soon, feeling a bit weak, but the doctors said her condition was better compared to other mothers. The second brother tenderly helped her tidy her hair, gently kissed her forehead, and whispered a soft "Thank you for your hard work."
Mingyi still felt like she was dreaming; her childbirth experience had been incredibly fast. Once she entered the delivery room, the doctor offered her chocolate but she hadn’t even had time to take a bite before the baby eagerly wanted to meet his mom.
"Where’s Panpan?" The weak Mingyi still thought about her eldest son. Panpan ran over joyfully and gave Mingyi a thumbs up.
"Mom didn’t cry, so brave!"
Mingyi smiled, both tired and gratified, as Panpan spoke understandingly.
"Although little brother is a bit ugly, I won’t dislike him. I will take good care of him!"
"I don’t dislike him either." The second brother played along with his son.
Everyone was speechless; did Mr. Yu also think the baby was ugly? Mrs. Yu pushed her wooden second son away, feeling displeased.
"I dislike you! What kind of a father is that? Let me tell you, your second treasure was born with thick hair and eyelashes that cover his eyes. He’s destined to be a handsome young man as he grows! He looks much like you when you were born."
"The baby was very good and didn’t make mom suffer." Qian was very envious, wishing her own childbirth would be as easy.
"I made sure he behaved! I also gave him prenatal instruction!" Panpan proudly proclaimed, saying he often spoke to his brother while mom was asleep during the past few months.
Strangely enough, the little baby would cry in the incubator, but whenever Panpan went over and said "Brother’s here," he would stop crying immediately. Even the nurses found it curious. Qian explained that the baby had hearing in the womb and was familiar with Panpan’s voice, so his stopping crying was a conditioned response, which would fade over time.
Nonetheless, everyone was pleased, believing the second treasure was fated to be close with his brother. Having been instilled with plenty of brotherly honor by Qian and Mingyi, Panpan now walked with a bounce, hardly looking at his mom, often running to observe his brother through the incubator glass. The little brothers exchanged glances through the glass, and Panpan was very fond of his brother.
This let Mingyi, who was anxious for ten months, breathe a sigh of relief. She had been worried that the arrival of the second baby would make Panpan feel neglected. Fortunately, this didn’t happen, thanks to Qian’s timely reminders early in the pregnancy, proving that preparation prevents problems.
The smoothly arriving baby was ultimately named Yu Yiyang instead of Yu Yiri; perhaps because Mr. Yu felt the former name was odd for a grandson. Yiyang is also akin to ’Yiri.’ While Qian was happy for Mingyi, she couldn’t help but worry.
