Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss
Chapter 1186 - 1158: Needle Point Against Wheat Awn
Chapter 1186: Chapter 1158: Needle Point Against Wheat Awn
Yu Minglang secretly gritted his teeth; she actually played the baby card, using the Heart Attack Skill meant for outside on him!
Qian pretended to be very teachable, but inside she was sticking her tongue out.
It doesn’t matter what card is played; the important thing is... as long as it works!
"Honey, what kind of plan are you thinking of using?"
"What plan can I have? Since you’re messing around like this, I’ll assign you a bodyguard. Having someone with you can be good for emergencies."
"Are your people that free?"
"Of course not, we’re all busy to death, but fortunately someone who knows you well has enough leave time to follow you without issue."
"Are you talking about—" Qian widened her eyes; is there even such a trick?
The bodyguard Yu Minglang mentioned was none other than Dalong.
Since Qian was adamant about sending off the dying old man, he had to arrange someone by her side and, at the same time, start investigating Mu Xiaofeng to see if she was truly an addict.
"Will he... work?" Though Qian held infinite expectations for her brother, she wasn’t too confident in his abilities.
She wanted to finally perform her duties, but that didn’t mean she was really going to joke around with the baby in her belly.
"He will do fine. Although Dalong is a bit single-minded, he’s also very capable. That’s been demonstrated over the past month. With a little guidance, disguising and infiltration won’t be a problem."
Currently, only Dalong has available time. Although he has not yet gone through the final test nor officially joined Yu Headquarters, they’ve already given him a position due to his exemplary selflessness.
"Don’t worry, I won’t risk my wife’s safety as a joke. Dalong is your brother and also mine. I’m confident in his abilities; with some training, he can definitely become an outstanding talent."
From Yu Minglang’s perspective, the likelihood of Qian encountering danger is minimal. Even if Mu Xiaofeng is suspected to be on something indescribable, she seeks help and hopes Qian can treat her father. Unless the hallucinations after taking something indescribable occur, she wouldn’t make a move on Qian.
So, for now, sending only Dalong is the most reliable option.
"Then how should I explain this to the Mu Family? Seeing a doctor with a man by my side doesn’t seem appropriate."
"That’s easy to handle; just say Dalong’s got a screw loose, pointing to his head, ’There’s something wrong here.’ Tell them he has mental issues and can’t be left alone; his leg was injured when he was left on his own, and you don’t trust leaving him at home alone, so you bring him everywhere."
This is quite reasonable.
Mu Xiaofeng is unaware that Qian is suspicious of her and won’t grow too suspicious of Dalong. Even seeing Dalong’s truly injured leg would reassure her that nobody in their right mind would send an injured person to protect Qian.
But Yu Minglang just wants to play a risky move: Dalong’s leg might have issues, and he may be no match for others, yet having gone through training, he now possesses some counter-surveillance skills. He can accompany Qian and relay information during instances, using the weak-leg excuse to infiltrate the Mu Family.
"Having him act as a screw-loose individual, that’s truly a role he can play naturally... yet I’m curious if the lad will agree. Isn’t he shouting about wanting to participate in your tests?"
This doesn’t worry Xiaoqiang; he’s quite confident.
"Don’t worry, dear wife; don’t you always hold a grudge for me making you say cheesy things in front of everyone last time, ruining your aloof image?"
At the mention of this, Qian just wanted to punch him; yes, she’s been holding a grudge about that!
"This time, I’m giving you a chance to see how your brother feels about you?"
Xiaoqiang leaned over and whispered to Qian’s ear, making her feel great.’
Whenever he used that devious mind on others, Qian was quite pleased, as long as it wasn’t against her.
Thus, the couple discussed their future strategy and were just about to delve into the matter of the beauty when suddenly there was a banging on the door.
"Yu Laomao, you’d better open the door quickly!"
It’s Mrs. Yu!
When Qian heard the overly gentle voice of her mother-in-law, the image of Mrs. Yu skillfully twisting Mr. Yu’s ear at home immediately popped into her head.
It seemed Mrs. Yu always used a gentle voice to express her mood before losing her temper.
Qian glanced at Yu Minglang’s ears, whispering softly, "Shall I fetch some ointment for you to prepare? If mom hurts you while twisting, you can apply some."
Yu Minglang almost laughed out of frustration; this little troublemaker angered his mother but was willing to throw him out to deal with the consequences!
Obviously, his mother wouldn’t vent on a pregnant woman; he’d be the one in trouble, but who could he blame for marrying such a wife.
Yu Minglang threw her a look meaning they’d settle accounts later and got up to open the door.
Just as he reached the door, it flung open with a bang.
Mrs. Yu stood outside, smiling but emanating an aura filled with menace. Beside her was a security guard who wore a wincing face upon seeing Yu Minglang, the wire he held to unlock the door shook.
"I, I, I..." I’m under duress; please, be aware of this!
Mrs. Yu’s smile blossomed like a flower. "Thank you, you can go now. Sorry for taking up your time; Auntie will treat you to a chicken leg later."
"You’re welcome." The security guard who assisted Mrs. Yu in opening Yu Minglang’s door had weak knees. He didn’t dare hope for a chicken leg; he only wished not to be turned into one!
"Rest assured, if he dares give you a hard time, I’ll dare skin him alive," Mrs. Yu said kindly. The little security guard didn’t dare look at what expression Yu Minglang wore; he fled wretchedly with tears in his heart.
Boohoo, he had a premonition that things might not go well for him!
"Mom, you could’ve just come; why bring someone along?" Yu Minglang was helpless.
Mrs. Yu glared at him, ignoring her utterly unimportant son, carrying a pot of chicken soup straight into the house. Qian hurried to her feet, her head bowed, playing the role of someone admitting her fault.
"Qian, didn’t you have any snacks? I made some chicken soup for you, come have some." Mrs. Yu acted as though nothing happened, sitting on the sofa and serving soup to Qian, while her sharp gaze swept over the beauty. The beauty silently retreated a few steps, sensing the old grandmother’s hostility, tail between its legs, slipped into the bedroom.
"Mom, I’m sorry." Seeing her mother-in-law approaching with soup, Qian wisely apologized.
"You kids these days, I don’t know what to say to you. I’m acting only for your good and here you are running away with that crazy dog, not going home—insisting on avoiding me. Those aware might blame Yu Laomao for inadequately dealing with our mother-daughter-in-law issue; those unaware might think I’m bullying you."
Mrs. Yu’s words carried some heft; never had she confronted Qian so sharply before.
