Chapter 720: Chapter-720

"I’m going now!" the silver orb yelled, its voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated terror. "Take care of yourself!"

With a brilliant flash of blue light, the silver system rocketed away, disappearing into the crowded plaza like it was being hunted by the devil herself.

The golden lion just sat there, staring blankly at the empty space where its friend had just been. Its internal fans were spinning wildly, its interface buffering as it tried to register the words killed her own system.

Heena looked down at her completely frozen AI. She let out a soft sigh, reached out her pale hand, and lightly flicked the golden lion’s holographic forehead with her index finger.

"What are you doing spacing out here, you idiot?" Heena asked lazily, resting her hands on her hips.

The tap snapped the system out of its glitch. The golden cub violently flinched, its head snapping up to look at Heena’s dark, unreadable eyes. Its digital heart was practically beating out of its chest, the terrifying rumor echoing loudly in its audio processors.

"Oh!" the system squeaked, desperately trying to modulate its voice to sound perfectly normal and entirely unbothered. "You... you got out so easily, Host?"

Heena’s dark eyes narrowed just a fraction, her sharp gaze sweeping over the trembling golden lion cub. She could easily read the digital panic practically vibrating off its code. It was acting incredibly strange, its interface flickering with nervous energy, and it was avoiding direct eye contact with her.

She could guess that whatever that silver orb had whispered to it was likely a piece of the Bureau’s favorite, blood-soaked gossip regarding her past.

But Heena didn’t care. She was completely exhausted by the pristine, hypocritical politics of the Nexus, and she had zero interest in defending her reputation to a terrified AI.

She let out a short, dismissive sigh and slipped her hands into her pockets.

"Let’s go to our next world," Heena said, her tone perfectly flat, entirely ignoring the elephant in the room as she turned and walked toward the deployment sector.

The System immediately scrambled to follow her, its digital paws paddling frantically in the air to catch up. As it bobbed along behind her, its internal processors were running a million miles an hour. It looked at the back of Heena’s head. Killed her own system, the silver orb’s voice echoed in its audio logs.

The golden cub swallowed hard. No, the System rationalized, desperately clinging to its own logic. She is terrifying, yes. She is a completely unhinged Black Lotus. But she takes care of me! She told me to save my points! She buys me digital cotton candy! She wouldn’t just rip my core out for no reason... probably.

Taking a deep, virtual breath, the System decided to bury the rumor deep in its encrypted files. Heena was its host, and in the cutthroat hierarchy of the Transmigration Bureau, this terrifying warlord was the only one who actually had its back.

Soon, the pair stood in the center of the Transmigration Terminal.

Unlike the quiet, sterile corridors of the administrative sector, the Terminal was a massive, sprawling hub of chaotic energy. Towering archways of chrome and glass stretched as far as the eye could see, each one housing a swirling, stable portal leading to different dimensions. High-tier workers were stepping gracefully into shimmering golden gates, heading off to easy, luxurious romance worlds or perfectly balanced fantasy realms.

Heena bypassed the glamorous gates entirely, walking straight to the back of the terminal to a heavy, industrial-looking deployment pad designated for high-risk anomalies.

She stepped onto the center of the metallic platform, rolling her shoulders to loosen the lingering tension from the Vanguard world.

"So," Heena demanded, looking up at the floating lion cub. "What is our next mission? Give me the brief before we drop. Am I an assassin this time? A villainess? Another sickly aristocrat?"

"Checking the assignment queue now, Host!" the System chirped, eager to prove its usefulness and completely forget the awkwardness from earlier.

The golden lion tapped its paws in the air, pulling up a glowing blue data disc. The holographic screen flickered, projecting lines of complex dimensional coordinates. The System leaned in to read the brief, but suddenly, the blue text began to violently scramble. The soft hum of the deployment pad hitched, replaced by a harsh, grinding static.

"Uh..." the System stammered, its ears dropping flat against its head as the blue screen flashed an angry, blaring crimson. "Uh, Host... this world is... suddenly there’s a—"

Before the System could even finish the sentence, the pristine metallic floor beneath Heena’s feet simply ceased to exist.

There was no warning chime. There was no countdown. The deployment pad violently fractured, and a massive, swirling black hole ripped open directly underneath them. It wasn’t a standard, stable teleportation gate; it was a jagged, chaotic tear in the fabric of the Nexus itself, radiating a crushing, abyssal gravity that immediately latched onto Heena’s soul.

Heena didn’t scream. She didn’t flail her arms in terror.

Instead, as gravity inverted and she violently plummeted into the pitch-black void, Heena shot a look of absolute, murderous annoyance at the glowing blue data disc.

She gritted her teeth, the chaotic winds of the dimensional tear violently whipping her dark hair around her face.

"You damn bastard!" Heena shouted over the roaring vortex, glaring at the panicked System tumbling down right beside her. "Cannot you just tell me faster?!"

"I DIDN’T KNOW!" the System shrieked, clutching its blue data disc like a lifeline as they were swallowed by the dark.

With a deafening, thunderous CRACK that shook the entire terminal, the dimensional tear violently snapped shut behind them, leaving the pristine white floor perfectly intact, and erasing the Black Lotus and her System from the Nexus completely.

"Ugh." Heena blinked her heavy eyelids, the thick blackness at the edges of her vision slowly dissolving into a dull, gray haze.

She remained perfectly still, letting her eyes dart around the unfamiliar space. Transferred again. She tried to shift her weight, and a violent, full-body ache instantly flared up across every nerve ending. It felt as if a heavily loaded cargo carriage had run her over, reversed, and then parked directly on her spine.

She squeezed her eyes shut, gritted her teeth in absolute, seething annoyance, and forced them open again.

"Damn fucking moron," she hissed through the pain.

Her anger immediately spiked as her vision focused on the ceiling. Right above her head was a heavy, intricately carved wooden headboard. Taking one look at the archaic floral patterns and the exposed wooden support beams of the roof, she could already guess the setting.

An ancient world. Again. What the heck?

Ignoring the screaming protest of her muscles, Heena pushed herself up into a sitting position and surveyed the room. Calling it "clean" was a massive understatement. It wasn’t clean; it was entirely stripped. The room was a hollow wooden shell. She was currently sitting on a hard wooden bedframe that didn’t have a single bedsheet or blanket on it.

Across the room sat a dull bronze mirror, so heavily oxidized and scratched that she wouldn’t even be able to make out her own silhouette in it. Next to the mirror was a chest of drawers that looked like it had been rotting for a century, entirely devoid of any personal belongings.
