Return of Black Lotus system:Taming Cheating Male Leads
Chapter 703 --703
Chapter 703: Chapter-703
Heena smoothly twisted her wrist, parrying the stiletto with a brutal deflection that threw the Empress off balance. But the Empress was no helpless noblewoman. She used the momentum to spin, the heavy yellow silk of her robes masking her footwork, and slashed backward, aiming a lethal, horizontal cut directly at Heena’s ribs.
Heena leaned back, the poisoned edge missing her flesh by a millimeter, slicing cleanly through the black fabric of her top.
Without missing a beat, Heena retaliated. She stepped into the Empress’s guard, driving her knee viciously into the older woman’s stomach. The Empress gasped, stumbling backward against the Emperor’s desk. Before she could recover, Heena slashed her short sword in a blinding upward arc.
The blade tore through the thick imperial yellow silk, leaving a deep, bleeding gash across the Empress’s right shoulder.
The Empress screamed in pain, but the madness in her eyes only burned brighter. She snatched a heavy, solid-gold inkstone from the Emperor’s desk with her left hand and hurled it directly at Heena’s head.
Heena ducked, the gold block smashing into a cedar pillar behind her. The Empress used the distraction to lunge again, slashing wildly with the poisoned stiletto, abandoning all martial form for sheer, homicidal desperation. She fought like a cornered viper, her regal robes tearing, her hair falling around her face in wild, tangled strands.
"I am the Empress!" she shrieked, wildly parrying Heena’s calculated strikes, the metallic clash of their blades ringing out over the slaughter below. "I am the chosen Mother! You are nothing but a Vanguard dog waiting to die!"
"Then let a dog bite you," Heena said coldly.
The Empress lunged forward for a final, venomous thrust aimed squarely at Heena’s heart.
Heena didn’t dodge. She stepped directly into the strike.
With terrifying precision, Heena caught the Empress’s wrist with her bare, left hand. The poisoned stiletto stopped dead, hovering an inch from Heena’s collarbone. The Empress’s eyes went wide with shock as Heena’s grip tightened like an iron vice, crushing the bones in her wrist until a sickening crack echoed on the dais.
The black stiletto slipped from the Empress’s numb fingers, clattering onto the floorboards.
Before the Empress could even scream from the broken wrist, Heena drove the pommel of her own sword directly into the Empress’s jaw.
The heavy leather-wrapped steel connected with a bone-shattering crunch. The Empress’s head snapped back, the sheer force of the blow lifting her off her feet. She crashed violently onto the polished floor of the dais, sliding until her back hit the base of her own golden throne.
Below them, the Empress’s dancer-assassins were systematically overwhelmed and slaughtered by the Emperor’s shadows. The rebellion was over before it had even truly begun.
The Empress lay crumpled at the foot of her throne. Her jaw was dislocated, blood pouring from her mouth and the deep gash on her shoulder, staining the imperial yellow silk a horrifying crimson. She weakly tried to push herself up, her eyes still burning with absolute, unbroken hatred, but her body was completely broken.
Heena stood over her, breathing evenly. The Class-S drug was still roaring through her system, demanding more violence, more speed, but her mind remained an absolute fortress of ice. She kicked the poisoned stiletto off the edge of the dais.
She turned her head slightly, looking back at the Emperor.
He was still sitting in his chair, completely untouched, watching the woman he once worshipped bleed out on his floorboards.
"She is disarmed, Your Majesty," Heena said, her voice dropping the adrenaline of the fight, returning to the smooth, cold tone of a Vanguard warlord. She stepped back, leaving the Empress gasping for air at his feet. "The final move belongs to the throne."
The Emperor slowly rose from his golden chair.
He stepped over the blood-stained lambskin, the physical evidence of his twenty-year tragedy, and walked until he was standing directly over the broken, bleeding woman he had once called his soulmate.
The Empress looked up at him. Her jaw was shattered, making her face look grotesquely asymmetrical, but her eyes were still entirely feral. She spat a mouthful of blood onto the hem of his pristine imperial yellow robes. It was her final, defiant insult—a dying tyrant refusing to bow.
The Emperor did not flinch at the blood on his boots. He simply looked down at her with a chilling, unfathomable emptiness.
"You think I will kill you tonight," the Emperor said, his voice barely above a whisper, yet it carried clearly over the groans of the dying court below. "You think you will get to die here, in your beautiful silk robes, as the Mother of the Empire."
He leaned down, his face inches from hers.
"Death is a mercy reserved for my loyal subjects," the Emperor breathed, his eyes completely dead. "You will not have it."
He straightened his back and turned to the head eunuch, who was currently cowering behind a cedar pillar, shaking like a leaf in a hurricane.
"Strip her of the imperial yellow," the Emperor commanded, his voice echoing with absolute, world-ending authority. "Strip her of her titles, her name, and her rank. She is a peasant. Drag her to the deepest, darkest water-dungeon beneath the Imperial Prison."
The Empress’s feral eyes finally widened in genuine, creeping panic. She tried to thrash, trying to form a coherent curse through her dislocated jaw, but all that came out was a wet, ragged gurgle.
"And tomorrow," the Emperor continued, his voice cold enough to freeze the blood on the floorboards, "bring her up to the execution square. Prop her eyes open. She will remain alive to watch as I execute every single member of her family, every minister who knelt to her, and every servant who carried her secrets. She will watch her entire bloodline undergo the death of a thousand cuts. Only when the last drop of her family’s blood has drained into the dirt will I allow her to die."
Two massive, heavily armored imperial guards stepped onto the dais. Without a shred of the reverence they would have shown her an hour ago, they grabbed the former Empress by her arms, hoisted her broken body off the floor, and dragged her away. Her heels dragged through the spilled wine and blood on the jade stage, leaving a dark, smeared trail all the way to the heavy side doors.
The Emperor stood in the silence of the aftermath. He looked out over his Grand Pavilion.
It was a graveyard of aristocratic silk and shattered jade. The Assistant Prime Minister lay dead across a broken table, his eyes wide open in frozen terror. Lord Lu was slumped against a cedar pillar, his throat completely severed. The Emperor’s shadow guards were quietly moving through the hall, seamlessly slitting the throats of any corrupt minister who was still twitching.
The Emperor turned his dark, hollow eyes back to Heena.
She stood at the edge of the dais, the crimson slit of her skirt revealing her leather-strapped thigh, her black top torn at the ribs, her short sword dripping with aristocratic blood. She looked like a demon of war who had just finished reshaping the earth.
"The Vanguard Marquisate has fulfilled its vow," the Emperor said softly. "The board is clean."
