Chapter 613: Chapter 613: The Wife I Risked My Life For, Who Dares to Lay a Finger on Her
She didn’t get it. She really didn’t... What did Arthur Ainsworth’s divorce have to do with Leona Grant?
Leona Grant let out a sneer. His eyes, as bleak and cold as a frozen pond, glinted with a biting chill as he glanced at Tina Chapman. "Weren’t you just going on and on about how Annabelle Linton doesn’t know a wife’s place? Well then, let’s see what happens to you—so obedient, so virtuous, so unfailingly loyal to your husband. Let’s see what choice your husband makes."
Arthur Ainsworth looked torn. "Young Master Grant... you..."
"You have three days."
With that, Leona Grant turned, took Annabelle Linton by the hand, and started walking out.
"See ya, Annabelle~"
Chase Lynch waved, calling out to Annabelle Linton in a cheerful, devil-may-care tone.
Leona Grant’s eyes went cold. He shot Chase a glare sharp enough to cut and said sarcastically, "See ya? You didn’t manage to kill her with your car the first time, so you want a second chance? And another thing—who are you to call her Annabelle?"
Chase Lynch coughed awkwardly and tried to defend himself. "That was an accident, you know? As for ’Annabelle’... we’re all friends, aren’t we? Or I could call her Annabelle, or Ainsworth, either one works."
"You two are not friends, so you can stop racking your brain for nicknames. She is my woman—Leona Grant’s woman. You will address her as Mrs. Grant. Understand?"
Leona Grant’s lips curled, but his expression remained flat. "I’ll never understand how a guy like you managed to get a driver’s license. You’re the one who caused the accident, yet you let an innocent person stand here and take the family’s wrath for you. And you have the audacity to say ’see ya’?"
Chase Lynch: "..."
’All I did was say hi...’
"So, to show my sincerity, I plan on treating Annabelle to a meal as an apology," Chase Lynch said, seizing the opening to look directly at Annabelle Linton. "Annabelle, what do you say?"
This time, Leona Grant didn’t speak, but simply looked at Annabelle Linton.
It was a cool, indifferent glance, but the threat in his eyes was unmistakable, as if to say, ’Just you dare say yes.’
Annabelle Linton looked at Chase Lynch, speechless. She rolled her eyes and, just as she always had before, coldly spat out two words: "You’re nuts."
Chase Lynch: "..."
Leona Grant couldn’t hold back a laugh. He looked at Chase Lynch, his gaze sweeping over him with the cool air of a victor. "Good thing we’re already at the hospital. You should go get a brain scan. I agree, there’s definitely something wrong with your head."
’You two really deserve each other...’
After they left the hospital, Leona Grant couldn’t stop thinking about what Tina Chapman had said before: "Last time in Serenvale, I saw her and Quentin Holland getting all lovey-dovey..." The more he replayed it in his mind, the more it bothered him.
He was just about to confront her about it when Annabelle Linton suddenly turned to face him. Her gaze dropped, and a bitter smile touched her lips. "It seems I’ve made trouble for you again..."
Hearing the formal distance in her tone, Leona Grant’s first reaction was anger.
He hated it when she apologized to him. He hated it when she thanked him. And he absolutely loathed it when she treated him with such formality.
’Anything for her was never a trouble.’
He was about to scold her, but when he saw her dispirited look, his anger was replaced by a pang of heartache.
’Only someone who hates being a burden, someone incredibly strong and independent, would say something like that.’
’Annabelle Linton had been through so much hardship in the past...’
Leona Grant cupped her face in his hands and declared, his voice full of domineering possessiveness, "Annabelle Linton, listen to me. If anyone ever makes you unhappy, or if you just can’t stand the sight of someone, you don’t have to think about the consequences. You don’t have to care who they are. Even if you were to stab them, I would cover for you. Got it?"
Annabelle Linton smiled. "Wouldn’t that make me a murderer? People go to jail for that."
Leona Grant scoffed at that, his voice laced with unbridled arrogance. "And so what if they do? Here in Lynton, I, Leona Grant, am the law. I risked my life for this woman. I’d like to see anyone lay a single finger on her!"
