Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1552: Legacy Era Part 22
10 minutes later...
Felicia and the rest of the members bitterly paid the "reservation slots" price to Carmen.
"Our city will gladly welcome you properly once we’re done preparing." Carmen smiled blissfully and reminded them to remember to come.
The slots only worked on their opening day 1. Once that day passed, the slots they had reserved would no longer be effective.
Felicia nearly tripped herself when she heard that.
"I’ll keep that to heart." She responded in a somewhat hoarse tone. Soon, she signaled for the rest of the Paragon members to retreat.
But before then, she suddenly received a direct message from Carmen.
[Lunar Wraith: Your member, Serene Paragon, was honorable, so I shall advise you to take the utmost right path only. Remember, stay to the right and stick to it.]
’Stick to the right path?’ Felicia had a bad feeling about this. She wondered whether she should warn the others, but ultimately decided against it.
This might be their last mercy pardoned by their Guild Captain.
’Forget it, they can fend for themselves.’ She had already done her best as a shotcaller for this alliance.
In fact, she was killed once by their Knight Lancer and lost a lot of experience points. It would take her hours to even gain back those lost experience points.
’Ugh, screw the Ethereal. We need to kick this history out!’ Historically, she was essentially saying Ethereal was no longer worthy of bearing the status of a Super Guild.
Not many knew what really qualified one to become a Super Guild, but it was fairly simple in explanation.
You have to be acknowledged by the others that you are a Super Guild to become one.
To summarize, the Super Guild status was a monopoly but also a sacred symbol of one’s guild being far above everyone else. If they were to be surpassed by another and tarnish the status of a Super Guild, they would soon be questioned and debated whether they could retain the status.
Just like that, the rest of them began to retreat, with Carmen not making a move.
<Eh, it’s over just like that?>
<That’s kind of very anti-climactic if you ask me.>
<Nah, don’t you know the Vanguard Guild? They don’t provoke others, but they never let others provoke them and get away scot-free.>
While the viewers were debating if this was really over, OneManMedia quickly made a polling bet.
[Will the group leave safely: Yes/No]
It was such a simple poll question, but precisely because of how simple it was that the group turned cautious.
They had never stopped watching the stream, so as soon as the poll was live, the retreating group was alarmed.
"Fuck, the Vangaurd is trying to ambush us from behind!" Lionfield cursed aloud and believed they were going to go back on their words.
He was especially irritated because while others only had to pay 10 gold coins, he was forced to pay 100 gold coins.
Why was that?
Why did he have to pay 10 times more than the others?
It was stated that his dishonorable moves deserved to pay more.
Toward that, Lionfield could only feel his face burn in humiliation.
Without hesitation, Lionfield ordered his people to get ready for a fight.
One second...
30 seconds...
One minute...
After waiting for a long time, the only thing they heard was a gust of wind passing by.
"..."
Nocturnal members were silent at Lionfield’s command. They had just escaped danger before their emotions peaked once again when they thought Vanguard Guild was pulling another attack.
However, it seemed like Lionfield was just scaring himself.
"Leader..."
"Shush!" Lionfield exclaimed and warned the rest or remained vigilant.
But as time passed by, other than the monster lurking in Twilight Glades that they already knew, there was no unexpected surprise.
Their whole ordeal was broadcast vividly to all the viewers who were laughing their butts off at Lionfield’s paranoid mind.
Main Office, City Hall
Swoosh!
Carmen returned to the office and asked, "Why did you tell me to inform Felicia to take the right path?"
If she recalled correctly, there was nobody even stationed in the Twilight Glades anymore.
And given the Super Guilds’ power, they might only struggle a bit with the monsters if their desire was only to escape.
"Mental burden." Xu Feng mused, his eyes watching the screen of Lionfield performing like a clown.
"Did you know why I was late to return?"
"Hmm, were you not..." Carmen suddenly paused, unsure if Veronica knew about Xu Feng being Eclipse Nova.
"She knows." He understood her pause and smiled. "Veronica is your friend and someone who has done a lot for the guild. I let her know so that she won’t be overly concerned. But then again, she had long suspected my identity anyway."
It was never an easy feat to conceal the matter from someone like Veronica, who had a lot of power.
And it would have been beyond disappointing if Veronica didn’t even hold any suspicions.
"Okay," Carmen sighed in relief. "Anyway, I thought you were just robbing the supplies from those guilds, so it riled them up."
"That’s only partially true." Xu Feng smirked.
Prior to returning to Haven Wind City, he made sure to donate some gifts to these Super Guilds.
These guilds constantly provoked him, and they really thought he wouldn’t do anything in return?
What a joke that was!
"Hmm, spill the beans then." Carmen sat on his lap and asked.
"Nothing much. I simply implanted belongings of Hell in those guilds and anonymously reported them to the NPCs." Xu Feng laughed heartily. Given the sensitivity of the issue, those guilds were probably in for a deep interrogation.
The incident at the defense border at Bardmon City was still relatively fresh.
Kong Ming was especially infuriated by the attack caused by Hell because Bardmon City had suffered tons of damage.
"Wow, that’s really evil," Carmen commented before clapping her hands. "You should have done something more by destroying some of the NPC stores and dropping items belonging to the guild and Hell’s traces too."
