Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1280: Global Manhunt Part 4

Chapter 1280: Global Manhunt Part 4

"Guild Leader, stop scaring me." Carmen panicked heavily when she saw Xu Feng completely out of sync.

His body was trembling like crazy, and his lack of attention made her deeply afraid.

What kind of message did he receive to become like this?

Unsure of what else to do, Carmen could only wrap her arms around his neck and pull him into a tender embrace.

"Please snap out of it, Feng. You’re making me feel scared." She whispered gently.

A few seconds later, when Xu Feng felt the warmth and tenderness wrapped around him, he finally regained his consciousness. The death of Burpe had been etched deeply in his heart.

The interaction they spent together was very brief yet extremely meaningful.

There were so many things he had planned to adventure with Burpe. After all, it was difficult to find a companion to fight and enjoy a blissful moment together.

Although he knew the chances were slim, he still wanted to give it a try.

"I’m sorry for worrying you." Xu Feng took a deep breath and apologized for his composure.

Upon hearing him, Carmen wrapped her arms tighter around him. "You just know how to worry me. Did you know how shocked I was when you staggered and nearly fell to the ground?"

Thankfully, Carmen had instructed the other guild members to scatter across and lie in wait. Otherwise, their action would have been caught by others.

She didn’t care about being seen in an intimate act with Xu Feng. But she definitely cared about Xu Feng’s image being shattered.

To the guild members, Xu Feng was like the untouchable and unfathomable greatest healer in the Divine World. Nothing could make him lose his composure, much less react intensely.

Seeing how anxious Carmen was and how much her arms were shaking, Xu Feng didn’t push her aside.

The Global Manhunt had officially started, and their locations were constantly being pinged every 5 minutes.

"I’ve received a message regarding a Resurrection Shard."

Xu Feng gently rubbed her back and began explaining some of the key details that occurred during his adventure in the Phantasm Sea.

A few minutes later...

Carmen struggled to hold her tears back as she pulled Xu Feng closer. He was now lying directly on her chest as she warmly consoled him.

"Burpe is really an amazing Spirit," Carmen spoke softly.

"I’m sure he made up his mind when he made that decision. The chance of resurrection is slim, but we should still try our best. Before then, I hope you can stop blaming yourself. If Burpe was still alive and saw you being wracked with guilt, then he would really beat you up."

Having known Xu Feng was an orphan who lacked a lot of care and family love. Carmen understood that Xu Feng had treated Burpe like a little brother he never had.

To see the little brother he had barely gotten and accepted to meet his demise in an impromptu moment must have been devastating.

He could suppress the feeling deep inside his heart, but it would only take a small fuse to explode those suppressed emotions.

And this small fuse just so happened to be the possibility of resurrecting Burpe.

Sometime later, Xu Feng finally managed to regulate his emotions under the gentle and tender care of Carmen.

He slowly retracted himself from her embrace and apologized.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to lose my composure, Carmen."

"What’s there to apologize for?" Carmen scolded and pulled him back to her embrace.

"Losing your composure is only normal as a human. You’re a human being, and not a machine."

"..."

Silent, Xu Feng didn’t know how to respond to her statement. All he knew was that the atmosphere had gone quite awkward.

"Guild Leader, if you want to embrace me longer, we can do it after we log out. But for now, we still have to focus on the Global Manhunt. Our location is constantly being pinged."

Xu Feng gazed at Carmen with a speechless expression.

How in the world did she learn to take advantage of every opportunity now to tease him?

What made it incredulous was that she made a very logical point while doing so.

Such words of war were usually his antics!

"Alright, I’ll stop teasing you now." Carmen suddenly said when she saw him silent.

"Just know that if you keep suppressing your emotions like today. Then I’ll make sure you will know my real power in making you become mute!"

"I got it." Xu Feng nodded and promised he would try to relax somewhat.

As the two returned to their track, Carmen stood up and smiled gently.

"I’ll start the preparation. You can reply to her." She calmly said, giving him the much-needed space.

When Xu Feng saw that she had really left him alone once she confirmed he was fine, his heart throbbed slightly.

’Curses, her tactics are very fearsome.’ He hurriedly snapped out of his mindset and replied to Zhang Jingyi.

Lin Feng: What do you want in return?

Peaceful Joy: I’ll need either you or Xu Feng to join me in the secret realm. The maximum capacity is 2 people in the invitation slot I gained, so I’ll need a healer to support me.

Lin Feng: I’ll have Xu Feng do it then. If there’s nothing else, we’ll chat later.

Peaceful Joy: Heh, since we’re already here, I might as well do you a favor. Your location has been pinged, and I’m already nearby. So far, I’ve slain quite a few people who want your head.

Alarmed, Xu Feng soon received multiple screenshots of Zhang Jingyi’s killing record that had dyed her name red.

Because the Global Manhunt was only directed at Xu Feng and his party, any killing of other players was considered PK and would be granted a Bounty Tag System.

However, what truly stunned him was that the majority of the slain players were Tier 2 or close to level 70.

"Just who is the one with the cheat here?" Xu Feng scratched his head and questioned life.
