Three days later, Lenora was in her wheelchair, looking at her husband’s bandaged body.

After the fire at the house, it had been three days since Orson had been unconscious. Thanks to some healers, they were able to fix most of his internal and external injuries.

Lenora just sighed. The sun was shining overhead as a doctor walked up.

"So, Miss Lenora, how are you doing?"

"I’m good, doc. But what about my husband? How is he?"

"He is fine, so you do not have to worry. Although I’m a bit surprised—he is not an Awakened, but to be alive after that many injuries, it’s a miracle if you ask me. It’s surprising, to say the least. So don’t worry about anything. Your husband is fine."

Lenora smiled as the doctor checked Orson and left.

She looked at the blade beside him. It was her blade. She sighed to herself before looking away.

As she wheeled herself to the window of the room, she had a lot to think about. Although the house was soundproof, she heard everything. But she still did not know why Orson protected her.

She looked at him.

Her own family looked at her as nothing but a pest, and there was her husband, who looked at her differently. She did not know what to feel. I mean, I only entered this relationship to kill myself.

She looked at the blade. Now she felt guilt for giving it to Orson.

Lenora thought of Orson. He was supposed to be the head, but no—he failed. So in a way, they were the same. But Orson had a family.

Although his family hated him, his elder sister still treated him like a child, so Orson had someone. But I had no one. So excuse me if I am a little distrustful of you.

Lenora just sighed to herself.

She had not wanted to give Orson the blade, but she had no choice. If Orson was filled with guilt, he would go mad from the mass burden. But if not, then he was safe.

Saints are beings of supreme power, so Saintess weapons have restrictions because they are also as powerful as a Saint. And her blade was no different.

So why do I still feel guilty for what I did? I mean, I didn’t mean to. It just happened. It’s not like I have fallen for him. It’s just that first it was the food, and his eyes—that light he used to always look at me with, like he could see everything inside me.

Lenora looked back out the window.

Even being called the Storm Saint, Lenora was no saint. She was a woman who wanted nothing but power, and she did everything she could to get it.

She prided herself on wanting power, and if that meant making her husband go mad just to make sure he doesn’t see her weak, or at all—but after today, she was having her doubts.

Why risk so much just to save me? she thought as she looked at the man on the bed.

Am I worth all this? Lenora thought as she let out a cold breath.

After a while, Lenora wheeled herself out of the room to get a drink. She got a call from Emily and picked it up.

"So how is he?"

"He’s fine. What about you? What are you up to, Emily?"

"You know, nothing much. Just the usual. I still can’t believe you are married. I mean, the you I know would rather kill a man than live together with him."

Lenora just smiled. "Well, you helped me learn how to live now, so."

"Yeah. So what are you doing?"

"Well, we are planning to go into that breach soon. It has been five days now since we have heard from Rain and her party. We are going to check it out. Almost all of the Awakened are all heading there. The government had to call the military just in case."

"What about Aeron’s family? Any word on them? What will happen?"

"Nothing. They have been radio silent for a while now."

"Well, good luck."

"Hmm." Emily smiled. "Having a teacher like you, I don’t think I need luck."

"Okay," Lenora said. "Greet Rain for me if you find her."

Emily smiled back. "Okay. So how is your marriage? Did he make you a woman now?"

Lenora ended the call, her face a bit red. She needed a drink.

So she went to the machine and bought a drink. It was strawberry. She smiled at it before drinking.

I wonder what is happening in that breach, she thought as she wheeled herself back inside the ward room.

Orson was still unconscious on the bed. Lenora looked at him for a while before she went to her holo comms to browse for a new house. She had nowhere to go for now, so she could only book a hotel for herself and Orson. A place they can stay when he gets better.

She then looked back at Orson.

"I don’t really know why you did what you did, and I don’t like to owe people. But I will really try to make this marriage between us work now. I promise."

Lenora said as she moved closer to Orson and grabbed his hand with hers—soft and cold in her touch. She looked up at him. Even with the bandages, Orson was handsome, with black hair and a beautifully shaped face. His nose looked perfect and soft as she moved her hand to his face, and his lips looked red and juicy. Her hand traveled down to his lips.

She was not sure why she was even doing this. Maybe it was that comment Emily said, but she wanted to know what it would feel like being with a man. And she was sure Orson would not mind—he was her husband, after all.

But Lenora was about to learn how wrong she was about Orson.

And just as her hand wanted to feel his lips, Orson’s eyes snapped open.
