Reincarnated As The Heroes Guide
Chapter 264: Epic Grade Tinkering
The Tinkers rushed through the rows of machines toward the new building, and then skidded to a stop at the door once they saw what was inside.
All the high-tech repair machines now had magical runes and crystals on them. The repair printer, which made the materials to patch the suits, was now a full assembly line, not a single arm.
The Epic Grade shop wasn’t just a repair facility, if you had the skills, it could make an entire arsenal of high-tech and magical equipment.
But it wasn’t the tinkers that were the most excited about the new building.
It was the Techno Wizards.
"This, it is beautiful. That is everything that we could have ever asked for, and look. It’s got all the blueprints for the equipment that we’re wearing.
Why not the items we can see?
I know that the workers here have fixed more than that, I can see it on the workbenches. There is even a speeder in for repairs, but all that I can make from the blueprints is what I have on me," Matteo muttered.
Kalli shrugged. "That’s easy enough to fix. We can just hand you more stuff and see if it adds it to the blueprints that you’re familiar with. Or, it could be that everything you have on you right now is Uncommon Grade, and the speeders are Rare Grade.
You might be lacking the requisite skill to make them.
I know that it took the tinkers here a long time working on system generated gear before they could even begin working on the speeders, and there are only a few other specialty shops in town that can do anything with them."
To test the theory, Kalli purchased a rare grade Pulse Cannon, and handed it to Matteo.
"Can you make that? Put it in your storage if you have to, and see if it is added to the shop’s blueprints."
The rifle vanished, and Matteo frowned. "It’s in the list, but you’re right. I can’t make it. It says that I need to get to 200 Experience points in Magitech Engineering, one of my class skills, before I can work with Rare Grade gear."
"And how do you get experience? Making and fixing things, right?"
Matteo nodded. "But it has to be a new challenge. Trying to repair or upgrade things works best, since no two things break the same way."
"Then we brought you to the perfect place. Ladies, take good care of these fine young Techno Wizards, and don’t forget to train the others.
You’re doing a wonderful job getting everyone’s gear back into working order."
Beth and Jane both laughed. There was a month-long backlog of repair orders, and even with four new skilled workers, it would still take at least a week and a half to get through it all.
Unless the Techno Wizards had a skill that would let them use the new Epic Grade workshop to speed up the process.
The shop could do so much more than the old one, and it was all magical, less technological. However, that didn’t change the fact that the work they needed to do was the same, and was likely to take the same amount of time and mana to complete.
If that was the case, they were in the same position as before, exhausted, out of mana and overworked.
Just slightly less overworked.
"Let me see if I can do something to help you all out."
{Quest Created} [Mind The Forge] Easy Difficulty. Repair 10 pieces of equipment at Uncommon Grade or higher. Repeatable quest.
"Ah, there you go. That will stack with your four-hour workday quest, and I’m assuming you can do at least ten pieces a day. The System picks the numbers and the fine details, you see," Kalli explained.
"So you do what? Petition for a quest to do something specific, and it just fills in the details?" Beth asked.
Kalli nodded. "That’s not a bad description. Sometimes it says no, or that the difficulty is wrong, or that a non-optional quest is about to be issued. But most of the time it’s amenable to my little edits that let us take on some more quests."
"That is wonderful news. We definitely get through more than ten uncommon grade items a day, and this will let us really stack up the points. And the reward boxes. Oh, how I miss getting stacks of Mystery Boxes every afternoon."
Kalli chuckled at the Tinker’s whimsical tone, knowing that she meant the days when she was on the air defence guns, getting Epic Grade kill quests.
Those were good days for everyone on the guns, as the Epic Grade boxes had practically rained rewards down upon them. Even now, they had so many duplicate types of items, things that served a similar function to what they were already using, and weren’t a clear upgrade, or had been replaced, that they were thinking of gifting or selling them to the new workers.
The System was at least good about giving you things that you could use, so even if it looked useless, it was rarely something that you couldn’t find a use for.
"Okay, we’ve got them. Thanks for the shiny new workshop, we will put it to good use. If you see the power armour users today, let them know that we’re nearly done, and we will message them when we finish this afternoon."
Kalli nodded. "They’ll be happy to hear it. Wearing the same lighter armour as the second line warriors is hurting their pride. Especially Reggie, since he’s got like three destroyed sets here with you."
That made Beth laugh. "Two. We sent one back already, so he should have a full set of gear to do the dungeons today. Yara was threatening to make him do the run every day until he stopped breaking his gear, but we pleaded with her not to.
His luck stat is too low, he takes all the hardest hits. The monsters don’t even sneak around him anymore, they just gang up on him like the rest of the group isn’t there.
That might be good, as it’s his job to distract them, but it’s hard on those of us who have to fix his armour."
Kalli smiled. "If I find anything with a self repair function on it, I’ll save it for him."
