Red Heart Patrols the Sky

Chapter 2800 - 73: Newcomers Will Follow_2

  • Next Chapter

The original Buddha’s Fifty-Eight Chapters had always been stored within the Ancient Imperial City, enshrined in the Heavenly Demon Pavilion.

Yet in the long flow of history, for all sorts of reasons, thirteen Chapters have already been lost.

Who would have thought that in this suddenly unsealed Land of Shenxiao, three Chapters could actually be gathered!

Truly a meeting of storm and cloud—too uncanny for mere chance.

This move that Bodhisattva Fayuan has just played upon the board can be called wondrous to the very tip of a hair.

Zhu Zheng took out from his storage ring that scripture whose splendid radiance could scarcely be contained, and explained to Zhu Lanruo: "This, I truly don’t know why it’s here..."

Zhu Lanruo of course knew why!

If not Quan Yingyang, then Fox Boki.

What the scheme within this truly is, why the one playing the game behind the scenes would place one Chapter of the Buddha’s Fifty-Eight Chapters upon Zhu Zheng’s person and have him carry it into the Land of Shenxiao... this she has yet to discern. But when it comes to sitting upon the mountain to watch the tigers fight, that she is well versed in.

She only said gently: "Naturally I believe you. But this treasured book is a Buddhist Family classic, not a thing of our Spider Family; better to hand it over. Only, I do not know..."

Her beautiful eyes flowed with light: "Should we give it to Mage Yang, or to the mouse monastics?"

By this point, the situation was clear—what qualification did Shujia Lan still have to compete? Her question was indeed amusing.

Yang Yu only warmed with a gentle Yixiao: "This poor monk first offers thanks to you good devotees. Having formed good karma today, there shall surely be a good result another day."

Yet his eyes turned toward Lu Qilang.

Chai Asi and Zhu Lanruo were both very tactful. Of the three Chapters of the Buddha’s Fifty-Eight Chapters gathered here, only the final one remained—could it too be gotten so easily?

Feeling the gaze of this True transmission of Buddhism, Lu Qilang laughed sharply.

Unlike Chai Asi’s muddled ignorance, unlike Zhu Zheng’s Involuntary.

He, however, was very clear on what he carried upon his person, and had taken pains to hide it, yet failed to hide it fully. The Knowledge and Hearing Bell had forcibly awakened the classic left behind in those years by Xiang Mi, Fifth Dharma King of Ancient Nan Mountain; now Yang Yu had already voiced his thanks. Ordinary demons might simply go along with the current, and at least form a strand of good karma with Ancient Nan Mountain...

But he only smiled handsomely, smiled radiantly, with not the slightest intention of taking out the scripture. He merely laughed and said: "Brother Chai’s generosity is lofty and vast, Miss Zhu is adept at soothing worldly dust from the heart; as for this Lu, I fall far short. My eyelids are shallow, I cannot wait for ’another day’... If Mage wishes this karmic tie, then grant me the good result today!"

This was a treasure he had painstakingly sought by relying on his innate spiritual sense—how could he just hand it over so lightly?

The Fifth place new king on the Heavenly List is so remarkable?

The Knowledge and Hearing Bell is so remarkable?

Yang Yu smiled faintly. If they were really to speak of good result, of benefits that would stir Lu Qilang’s heart, it was not that he could not offer them today.

But one does not supplicate without karmic affinity. Today, with the phantom of the Knowledge and Hearing Bell hanging high in the sky, and the Great Bodhisattva Chan Fayuan’s methods at work outside—if Lu Qilang did not wish to form a tie, then there was no need to force it.

He flipped a wooden mallet into his palm and gave it a light tap—just like that, he shattered Shujia Lan’s head, which had been firmly suppressed beneath the Ten Thousand Buddha Seal!

Red, white, and black all bled together in the Buddha Light.

And without so much as a glance over there, he simply looked upon Lu Qilang with compassion and said: "Donor, these words are truly discourteous. Letting a thing return to its true owner is right Thought. I advise you to let go, or else..."

Shujia Lan, possessing the strength of a Heavenly List new king, was killed like a dog. It was not that he did not resist, not that he failed to show his Power, but none of it availed him.

Having traveled together all this way, clashing openly and secretly without cease, Lu Qilang in particular ought to know Shujia Lan’s strength, and ought also to understand how terrifying this Yang Yu now was.

Yet in the face of this scene, this Young Master Lu did not lose an ounce of his poise, only laughed and said: "Or else what?"

Yang Yu merely lifted the wooden mallet with a smile, offhandedly pointing it at him, and spoke a single line: "So that you may know why the Heavenly Demon Mi Zhiben ranks the Heavenly List new kings as: this poor monk Fifth, you Seventh!"

...

...

At this very time, the many Heavenly Demons within Mo Yun City had likewise grasped Chan Fayuan’s stratagem.

The Knowledge and Hearing Bell swayed across the regions; its Power was far from subtle.

Yet whether Tiger Taisui, Lu Ximing, or Zhu Yi, none of them made any response.

These beings who stand at the Absolute Summit of the world, unless faced with an irreconcilable feud, unless their Tao Paths obstruct one another, generally share a tacit understanding that needs no words.

On the chessboard, each move is nothing but a matter of one’s own means. With such long lifespans, how could they be bound to one time, one place?

Within the darkness of Seal and Suppression, Ji Xingkong suddenly broke out in a harsh, evil laugh: "Bald donkey, rein in that fake smile of yours—do you really think you’ve calculated everything?"

Because the Land of Shenxiao was now cut off from inside and out, those not within that place were not necessarily within this time either. Thus the demons inside the Land of Shenxiao could not perceive that the laughter of Shujia Lan in the Land of Shenxiao, and that of Ji Xingkong within Mo Yun City, were actually layered together, echoing across a distance.

Within that wild laughter spanning time and space, Ji Xingkong’s voice was no longer the soft rustling it had been, but rather grand and majestic, spreading out his unique Buddha Nature and majesty within the resplendent golden Buddha Light guided by Chan Fayuan.

He seized Spirit Mountain, he occupied the Treasure Pagoda—Buddha is I Buddha...

Light conceals itself and the Demon Master emerges; the world thus attains the Tao.

Only the Black Lotus is the true orthodoxy under Heaven!

He was in the darkness, delivering all darkness. He was in the endless Long Night, kindling Buddha Light.

If there is no Buddha left in this world, if all things have fallen silent and extinct.

Where the heart-lamp shines, thus am I Buddha!

In that moment his Power swelled without limit, lifting aside the established Buddhist principles and reshaping an entirely new era of Dharma Propagation.

Out of the darkness his features emerged.

His lips opened and closed, chanting a grand sound of extinction of Law: "You already have all that you should have, yet still you would greedily seize all!"

His eyes gazed straight at Chan Fayuan... Within his pupils, dense white dots surfaced. Within the whites of his eyes, dense black dots surfaced. These were the faith-worms of the End of Dharma Era, the new transmission of Buddhist Law!
