Yijing City.

Qingrong Street.

Song Wen weaved through the bustling crowds, a hint of melancholy lingering between his brows.

He had been here for over a month, yet he had gleaned no information whatsoever about Huang Yangshu’s whereabouts.

The only useful tidbit he had uncovered was that Huang Yangshu had married into the Rong Clan thousands of years ago, becoming the dao companion of Song Wen’s sworn enemy—Rong Luan.

Huang Yangshu was a reclusive figure, rarely venturing beyond the Rong Clan’s ancestral grounds on Rong Ridge, where he spent most of his time in secluded cultivation.

Even when he occasionally ventured out, he shunned ostentation, preferring to operate in secrecy. Even members of the Rong Clan struggled to track his movements, let alone an outsider like Song Wen.

Song Wen harbored no personal grudge against Huang Yangshu, but as Rong Luan’s husband, he yearned to eliminate the man with his own hands.

He had even considered killing Huang Yangshu and leaving the name "Fan Kang" at the site of his demise, a mocking tribute to Rong Luan.

However, after a month of fruitless searching, Song Wen began to contemplate shifting his focus to another target.

Disguised as a late divine transformation stage cultivator, Song Wen strolled down the street, blending seamlessly with the other pedestrians. He glanced around casually, occasionally stepping into shops that caught his interest.

Suddenly, as if sensing something, Song Wen tilted his head and gazed upward into the vast expanse of the sky.

A dozen figures stood suspended in mid-air, all gazing toward the western horizon, clearly awaiting someone.

Apart from these individuals, the vast expanse of the sky remained empty.

Yijing City had no walls and no restrictions on aerial travel.

Therefore, these figures had deliberately cleared the area, preventing outsiders from ascending.

This indicated that the person they awaited must hold a position of great prestige.

To Song Wen’s surprise, the leader of this group was none other than Rong Luan.

Flanking Rong Luan on either side stood two men, both of whom Song Wen recognized!

On the left was Rong Shao.

On the right stood Huang Yangshu, the very target Song Wen had been searching for in vain for over a month.

Huang Yangshu wore a cyan robe, his expression cold and stern. Among the Rong Clan, where Corpse Path Art cultivation was prevalent, especially among high-tier cultivators, he was considered exceptionally handsome.

The formation of the group was meticulously arranged.

Rong Shao and Huang Yangshu stood only half a body length behind Rong Luan, while the others maintained a greater distance, at least three meters away from her.

Who could they be waiting for? Song Wen wondered inwardly. Someone important enough for Rong Luan to personally greet?

As a Great Ascension Stage cultivator, Rong Luan would undoubtedly sense any scrutiny. Yet Song Wen made no attempt to avert his gaze, instead staring blankly at the sky.

This was because cultivators like him were not uncommon within the city.

Many recognized Rong Luan and her companions, and all were curious about whom she was waiting for.

But the figure everyone anticipated remained absent for a long time. Only after more than two hours did a change finally appear on the western horizon.

First, an almost imperceptible streak of light. Then, with astonishing speed, the light expanded, piercing through the clouds and sweeping toward them!

As it drew closer, the crowd finally saw it clearly: a colossal Giant Flying Ship, thousands of feet long.

The ship was entirely dark black, its surface gleaming with an eerie, cold luster.

Blood-red formation patterns covered its hull, flickering erratically. Each pulse sent the surrounding heaven and earth spiritual qi into violent turmoil, radiating a terrifying, soul-shattering pressure.

Wherever the ship passed, clouds scattered and dissipated. The city below seemed shrouded in a massive shadow, the sunlight dimming.

A silent yet mountain-heavy aura of intimidation spread like a tide, engulfing all of Yijing City. The once-bustling streets fell deathly silent as every cultivator felt a primal tremor of fear and reverence deep within their souls.

Rong Luan straightened her posture slightly, her expression becoming more solemn.

Behind her, the Rong Clan members instinctively held their breath, their demeanor growing even more respectful.

The Giant Flying Ship gradually descended and hovered above the city.

A figure shot out from the ship and landed before Rong Luan.

It was an elderly man.

He wore a deep gray robe, his frame lean and his face etched with the deep furrows of age.

"Elder Yu Bi’s presence brings honor to our humble Rong Clan," Rong Luan said, clasping her hands in a respectful bow.

"Greetings, Elder Yu Bi," the other Rong Clan cultivators echoed, bowing in unison.

"Fellow Daoist Rong Luan, little friends, no need for such formalities," the elder replied. "The Rong Clan and the Divine Blood Gate share the same roots, we are one family. Why stand on ceremony?"

His voice was raspy, carrying an inexplicable chill. The forced smile on his deeply lined face appeared somewhat sinister.

"Elder Yu Bi’s cultivation has advanced further," Rong Luan observed. "Have you reached the peak of the mid-Great Ascension Stage?"

Yu Bi nodded, a hint of pride in his eyes.

"This old one reached the bottleneck of the mid-Great Ascension Stage over a decade ago. However, I have yet to find the opportunity to break through."

A flicker of envy crossed Rong Luan’s somewhat clouded eyes.

Though she and Yu Bi were both at the mid-Great Ascension Stage, she had been in this realm for nearly ten thousand years, yet she had never even touched that bottleneck.

"It seems Elder Yu Bi will likely advance to the late-Great Ascension Stage within a few years," Rong Luan said flatteringly.

"Thank you for your kind words, fellow daoist," Yu Bi replied with a smile, his gaze shifting to Rong Shao beside her.

"This... must be young friend Rong Shao?" Yu Bi’s voice was low and raspy, as if he were deliberately suppressing his hoarseness to sound more amiable.

"Senior Yu Bi speaks correctly. This junior is indeed Rong Shao," Rong Shao replied respectfully.

Beneath his lowered eyelids, his brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

Though he couldn’t see Yu Bi’s eyes directly, he could clearly sense the man’s gaze upon him, carrying a faint undercurrent of scrutiny that made him feel like he had thorns in his back, deeply uncomfortable.

"Fellow Daoist Rong Luan truly has a discerning eye, having nurtured you into such a remarkable talent," Yu Bi’s raspy voice rasped again. Though the words were complimentary, the icy tone carried no warmth whatsoever, sounding more like an appraisal of an object’s quality.
