Record of a Demon's Cultivation
Chapter 1487: Wagging His Tail and Begging for Mercy
Translator: CinderTL
"Little friend, do you know Elder Rong Yiwen?" Rong Shao asked, his voice tinged with suspicion.
"No, I don’t," Song Wen replied. "But we have some history."
Rong Shao didn’t doubt Song Wen’s casual fabrication.
"Very well! If Elder Rong Yiwen is in the city, I’ll be sure to deliver your message."
With that, he soared toward South Pill City.
Watching Rong Shao’s retreating figure until it vanished completely into the horizon, Song Wen suppressed his momentum and descended to the summit of a nearby mountain peak.
He casually found a stone, sat cross-legged, and activated his shadow void to monitor the surrounding ten thousand li while he waited quietly.
Song Wen wasn’t particularly confident that Rong Shao could actually summon Rong Yiwen, but he had no better plan. He could only do his best and leave the rest to fate.
After all, failure wouldn’t harm him. At worst, he’d simply assume a new identity and try again.
Less than an hour later, Song Wen hadn’t heard from Rong Shao or Rong Yiwen, but he did encounter a group of arrogant young masters from a prominent clan.
There were four of them in total. The leader was a young man in the Divine Transformation Stage, while the other three—clearly his guards—followed closely behind, their cultivation levels ranging from early to mid-Void Refinement.
"Su Fan, you can’t escape."
"Heh heh heh... You dare to assassinate me just because I slept with your betrothed? You truly have no sense of self-preservation."
"I’m going to capture you alive and defile your dao companion right before your eyes."
"Oh, by the way, isn’t her name Gu Ying?"
"She’s indeed as beautiful as a celestial being, so tender you could squeeze water from her skin. But she’s quite ungrateful. When I first took her, she pretended to be pure and virtuous, even daring to resist and nearly damaging my manhood."
"But the fiercer her resistance, the more aroused I became. I spent days training her until she finally submitted beneath me."
"Now, whenever she sees me, she crawls over like a dog, wagging her tail and begging for my favor, obedient and docile."
"Su Fan! I heard you’ve been engaged to her for decades, yet you’ve never even touched her finger because of some promise—to marry only after reaching the mid-void refinement stage. Tsk tsk! What a stroke of luck for me."
"You’ve never seen her so desperate. Surrender obediently, and this young master will let you go back and witness her true nature!"
"Hahaha..."
The young man’s laughter was arrogant and unrestrained.
Meanwhile, Su Fan, the man he spoke of, was fleeing for his life about 110 kilometers ahead of the group.
Su Fan appeared to be in his early twenties, with an early-stage void refining cultivation base. However, he was gravely wounded.
His aura was weak, his face pale, and blood continued to seep from his chest, staining his azure robes crimson.
"Rong Caizhe... you beast! Even as a ghost, I, Su Fan, will never let you escape!" Su Fan cried out in grief and fury.
He glanced back repeatedly at the young man he called Rong Caizhe, his eyes burning with hatred, wishing he could tear his enemy limb from limb. But knowing he was outmatched, Su Fan dared not pause, burying his head and fleeing relentlessly.
Song Wen, witnessing this scene, had no desire to get involved.
But someone else had other plans.
Su Fan, noticing Song Wen, deliberately altered his escape route, heading straight toward him.
"Fellow Daoist Wu Zong, save me!" Su Fan shouted desperately.
Song Wen stared in astonishment.
The opponent’s tactic of "diverting disaster eastward" was executed with effortless ease.
Song Wen’s gaze toward Su Fan immediately darkened.
Rong Caizhe, either brainless or convinced his family’s influence made thinking unnecessary, also turned his attention to Song Wen after hearing Su Fan’s plea for help.
"Su Fan, this turtle slave, has accomplices? Rong Yi, seize him!"
At Rong Caizhe’s command, a guard behind him launched several Corpse-Suppressing Nails.
The nails, each a foot long and pitch-black, shot straight for Song Wen’s face.
Watching the approaching nails, Song Wen felt a surge of annoyance.
He had merely come to wait for someone here, yet he was now dragged into this mess.
That Su Fan... he deserves to have his dao companion stolen.
Just as Song Wen was about to eliminate these annoying flies, his expression suddenly shifted. He summoned a spear over three meters long.
"Dare to disturb my cultivation? You’ll all die!"
With a thunderous roar, Song Wen’s spear pierced the air, first striking down the life-threatening corpse nails.
The nails shattered.
Undaunted, the spear’s lingering force transformed into a deathly cold light, hurtling straight toward Su Fan.
Su Fan, pleased that his scheme had succeeded, was about to change direction again and seize the opportunity to escape.
However, the spear proved far more terrifying than he had imagined.
Its shaft, like a dragon, tore through the sky with the force of a mountain-splitting strike, sweeping toward his waist and abdomen.
Su Fan’s defensive magical artifact and protective spiritual light shattered instantly.
Struck as if by lightning, he plummeted to the ground with a thunderous crash.
The spear’s lingering force surged onward, striking the remaining combatants.
None of them stood a chance. The spear’s passage left them defeated and crashing to the earth.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several muffled thuds echoed as Su Fan and Rong Caizhe’s five companions slammed into the ground, creating massive stone craters.
Yet none were dead, only severely injured.
At that moment, Rong Shao’s figure materialized in the distance, his voice resonating in Song Wen’s ears.
"Little friend Gu Huang, show mercy. Rong Caizhe is a member of the Rong Clan."
Song Wen curled his lip.
Rong Shao had finally arrived.
If he hadn’t shown up soon, the drama wouldn’t have been able to unfold properly.
"Since Senior Rong Shao has spoken, how could I refuse?"
Song Wen withdrew his spear and waited calmly for Rong Shao to approach.
"Thank you for showing mercy, little friend," Rong Shao said as he landed beside Song Wen.
"A trivial matter, not worth mentioning," Song Wen replied.
Rong Shao’s divine sense swept over the four Rong Clan members, confirming they were alive before focusing on Su Fan.
Su Fan lay sprawled in the stone crater, his spine completely shattered, barely able to move.
