Chapter 588: Chapter 457: Psychopathic Jude Seymour (2)

Flora Bloom glanced at Lex Cross’s stern face and took his arm. "Don’t worry. We have ways to protect ourselves. But Captain Lance Holland, will our presence cause trouble for you?"

The real reason Flora asked was to see if this group of people had the backbone to handle the responsibility. If they were the type to avoid trouble, then her party could just pretend they’d never been here and leave immediately.

They were already inside Aethelgard Base, and with their skills, it wouldn’t be difficult to hide for a short time. The only problem was that the situation with the Seymour family was unclear, and her father, Caleb Bloom, and his companions were nowhere to be found.

Saul Sterling’s superpower had somehow failed to find where they were being held captive.

This was very strange.

All these strange signs indicated that someone in the Seymour family was a superpower user with a concealment-type ability, or perhaps an expert with an anti-reconnaissance superpower.

Otherwise, with Saul Sterling’s Superpower Level at the peak of the Nebula Level, it was inconceivable that he couldn’t find them.

The best course of action was to infiltrate and investigate from the inside.

It would be best if Lance Holland was willing to cooperate. Help from an Aethelgard City local wouldn’t arouse suspicion as easily.

Lance Holland hastily waved his hands. "No, I think you’ve misunderstood! It’s not that we’re afraid of trouble! We’re just too insignificant in Aethelgard Base. If something happens, we might not be able to protect you. So..."

Flora Bloom smiled. "Don’t worry. We’ll all be fine!"

Before dawn the next day, while the other residents of the building were still asleep, Flora Bloom and her group of four left the building and headed for the Seymour family’s headquarters.

Many guards stood watch outside the building occupied by the Seymour family. Two of them were Nebula Level superpower users, and the rest were High-level Superpower Users.

With so many guards, not even a fly could get in under normal circumstances.

However, Lex Cross’s devouring superpower could conceal all traces of them, allowing them to slip inside without anyone noticing.

Unfortunately, the building had only one entrance. After circling it, they found that all the smaller doors had been welded shut. The only way in was through the main gate.

Lex Cross and Flora Bloom waited at the entrance for a while before the white glow surrounding Saul Sterling finally faded.

"What did you find?" Lex Cross asked.

"Jude Seymour is leading the team this time, and he brought his son and daughter. There are about three hundred Nebula Level users in this building, but most are ordinary ones with little potential. Reaching the Nebula Level is pretty much their limit."

"Fewer than twenty of them have any real potential. However, I suspect there’s a master whose Superpower Level exceeds my detection range mixed in with them. I can’t sense them."

"We’ve met Jude Seymour’s daughter, Irene Seymour. She’s a nasty piece of work, but her strength is average. His son, Shane Seymour, however, is a real powerhouse. He’s a Thunder Element user and, like his father, a peak Planet Level superpower user. On top of that, he has a protective battle robe that can block eighty percent of any attack below the Planet Level. He won’t be easy to deal with."

"Thunder Element? I thought a child’s superpower is always inherited from one of their parents. Is his mother from the Thunder Element? Besides your Cross family, who else in the universe has the Thunder Element?"

Lex Cross’s expression turned cold. "She was a woman of my family who consorted with an outsider."

"There was nothing to be done about it. Everyone knows how ambitious the Seymour family is. Back then, in order to produce a child with the unparalleled combat power of the Thunder Element, they set their sights on the Cross family."

"By the time the Cross family found out, Jude Seymour and the woman from our family had already secretly conceived a child."

Flora Bloom looked at Lex Cross. "The Cross family was surprisingly merciful about it, huh?"

Lex Cross shook his head. "The Cross family’s laws are strict. How could we tolerate a woman of our clan carrying a child of the Seymour family? Back then, the family elders intended to bring her back, only to find that her abdomen had already been carved out."

Hearing this, Flora Bloom’s expression darkened. "Carved out? Without the mother’s body, how could the child have been gestated? What was he trying to do?"

"The Seymour family possesses a secret technique that allows them to transplant a fetus younger than three months into a new woman’s body for gestation. Using this method, the fetus not only has a chance of inheriting the biological mother’s superpower, but also the superpower of the surrogate mother."

"However, Shane Seymour was unlucky. He didn’t inherit the superpower of his surrogate mother."

Flora Bloom saw the hatred that flashed in Saul Sterling’s eyes as he spoke. That kind of murderous expression, one that craved the satisfaction of a kill, was unmistakable.

Lex Cross patted Saul Sterling’s shoulder. "Saul, what’s past is past. We have a chance now to get the revenge we couldn’t before."

Flora Bloom looked at Saul Sterling, recalling the hatred on Solomon Sterling’s face when he’d learned Jude Seymour was in Aethelgard Base. It all clicked into place.
