Chapter 571: Chapter 451: Uncle Sterling, Pardon Me

Back at Villa No. 3, Flora Bloom looked around, but there was still no sign of her father, Caleb Bloom, and the others.

"Cynthia, have Dad and the others not come back yet?"

"That’s strange. Uncle and the others are usually back by now! Oh, right, they took the construction team to Orinburg to handle the construction today.

Ordinary people can’t go outside at all now. The day before yesterday, someone from the base snuck out of the woods and suddenly just... vanished."

"Tomorrow, go to the Mission Hall and issue a notice telling everyone in the base without superpowers not to leave Morhaven!"

"Got it!"

The nights in Morhaven were bright. Fireflies added to the atmosphere, and streetlights cast a dim glow over the avenues and alleyways.

With the mutated beehives that could be seen everywhere in Morhaven, there was also a sweet scent in the air.

But tonight, Morhaven was destined to be anything but peaceful.

The closest base to Morhaven was Aethelgard Base, situated outside Azuregard City. While only a sea separated it from Morhaven, the land route passed through Orinburg, Linchester City, and several other small towns.

Aethelgard Base.

Aethelgard City had been a small city, and Aethelgard Base was established around it, encompassing it entirely. Although Aethelgard City was not as large as Morhaven, Aethelgard Base, being built upon an entire city, was much larger than the base at Morhaven.

A larger area meant more people, and the size of the population determined the number of superpower users. It was one of the bases in close contact with Morhaven, and as far as Flora Bloom and the others knew, it was the second most populous base after the one in Argent.

However, within the last month, this populous base had already been occupied by the Seymour family from the Source Universe.

"Mr. Seymour, how should we handle these people?"

"These people are quite interesting indeed. Ask them if they’re willing to pledge allegiance to the Seymour family. If so, I can spare their lives. Also, bring me that little healer chick."

"Mr. Seymour, you’ve taken a liking to her? But this woman is very stubborn. If you get rough, I’m afraid she’ll..."

"Irene Seymour, rather than create a woman who hates me to the bone, it’s better to make her serve me willingly. I refuse to believe there’s a woman in the world who wouldn’t be tempted by the power and status of the Seymour family."

Flora Bloom gathered everyone in Villa No. 3.

"Who went to Orinburg this time?" Flora Bloom asked.

"Old Monroe, Shauna Wallace, your father and your younger brother, Old Lynch, Irvin Holden, Old Goldsmith, and five Earth Ability Users from the construction team."

"Wasn’t Old Goldsmith supervising the forging for the metallurgy team?"

"Old Goldsmith and Old Monroe discovered that buildings forged with certain metallic elements are sturdier and can even resist some superpowers. So, he went along to see for himself."

"Flora, is something wrong?" Cynthia Grant asked with concern.

"Flora, did something happen?"

Flora Bloom nodded.

"The Golden Crow circled over Orinburg but found no trace of my father and the others. There were signs of a fight and bloodstains among the ruined buildings."

"What are we going to do!" The worry on Jade’s face was plain to see. But she was no longer the person she used to be. Although she knew her husband and son might be in danger, the entire team was composed of High-level Superpower Users. Even if they were outmatched, they had strong defensive capabilities.

Besides, with Shauna Wallace from the Healing System there, it would be hard for them to get killed.

Lex Cross had remained silent on the side. Seeing the glow of Saul Sterling’s superpower gradually fade, he asked, "How did it go, Saul?"

"It must be Shane Seymour and people from the Seymour family."

Lex Cross nodded. "And their whereabouts?"

"They passed through Orinburg and headed south, apparently toward Aethelgard City. But Aethelgard City seems to have a powerful expert in residence; my scrying can’t pick up any details. I only know that Uncle Bloom and the others’ trail disappeared once they reached Aethelgard City. Also..."

Saul Sterling glanced at Marina Goldsmith, whose face was fraught with worry.

"I... I didn’t see Mr. Goldsmith."

"What!" Marina Goldsmith’s eyes widened, and she stared into Saul Sterling’s, as if trying to find a flaw in his words. "How could my dad not be there?" Her voice was on the verge of tears as she questioned him again and again.

"Fisher, don’t panic. Just because he wasn’t there doesn’t mean the worst has happened. It’s possible Mr. Goldsmith was never captured and managed to escape. It doesn’t necessarily mean..." Oscar Owen’s voice trailed off.

Marina Goldsmith looked at Oscar Owen as tears streamed down her face. "Oscar, you don’t believe your own words, do you? My dad is different from other people—he’s missing a leg. If they had to run, out of more than ten people, he would be the least likely one to get away."

"Fisher, what’s happened has happened. We have to do everything we can to overcome the difficulties and rescue everyone. I’ll have Three-Eyes and Vert go with you to Orinburg to search for any trace of Mr. Goldsmith. But you have to promise me you’ll be back in Morhaven before sunrise," Flora Bloom said, looking at Marina Goldsmith seriously.

Suppressing the unease in her heart, Marina Goldsmith nodded. "Okay!"

"Oscar, you go with her."

Oscar Owen nodded and patted Fisher’s shoulder comfortingly.

"Five, and The Crown Prince, you two go with them. The Seymour family’s members have high Superpower Levels. If you run into danger, retreat immediately," Lex Cross said, then looked at Flora Bloom.

"It’s not just the threat of the undead on Earth now. People from the Ancient Universe’s Star Nation have likely scattered everywhere to hunt for treasure. It’s dangerous to go out rashly."

"Mom, you and Polly should go get some rest. Lex and I will head to Aethelgard City to gather information. Saul, can you find out anything else?"

Saul Sterling shook his head. He looked at Flora Bloom with a troubled expression. "Flora, my power is limited, but... my father’s isn’t."

Flora Bloom raised an eyebrow. "Solomon Sterling?"

Saul Sterling nodded. "If you trust me, Flora, I can have my father help investigate. It’s just... we’d probably need to get him out of Villa No. 1. And about Graham Cross..."

Flora Bloom nodded, a cunning glint in her eye. "Don’t worry. I have a plan."

In a small private garden within the Villa No. 1 complex, the members of the Cross family had gathered. This included all the superpower users from the Morhaven base who had recently joined them.

Suddenly, a strange figure appeared in the midst of the gathered crowd.

"Who are you?" Solomon Sterling asked, frowning at the man who had suddenly appeared at his side.

Mervin Warren gave an awkward smile. He bowed and clasped his hands. "Uncle Sterling, forgive my impertinence!"

No one present, neither Graham Cross nor anyone else, had time to react. Even Solomon Sterling himself didn’t know what was happening when the man suddenly grabbed his hand.

The world spun around him as the space-time began to twist violently, and he felt as if he were being torn apart. Suddenly, the surrounding space seemed to freeze, locked in place by some special ability. Pulled along by the man, the space-time around him spun and warped, and then everything stopped.

The two of them appeared in the yard of Flora Bloom’s home, Villa No. 3.

"Dad, are you okay?"

Mervin Warren had materialized out of thin air in front of everyone, bringing Solomon Sterling with him. The moment he appeared, Mervin Warren collapsed onto the grass, gasping for breath and drenched in cold sweat.

Flora Bloom quickly tossed him some spiritual water and an Energy Gemstone to help him recover his superpower and stamina.

As for Solomon Sterling, the moment he appeared, his usual dignified demeanor was gone. He bent over and began to retch violently.

He pointed a finger somewhere in Mervin Warren’s direction as he heaved. "Gack! Is... is this spatial translocation? Blech! No, impossible... Urrp!"
