Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 236 - 234: It Has Nothing to Do With Me
Meanwhile, in the restroom.
Henry Marshall was still dazed even as he washed his hands after using the toilet.
His companion lightly tapped him on the shoulder from behind, making him jump in fright.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Seeing his huge reaction, his companion looked him up and down in surprise, his brow furrowing. "Henry, you’re not acting like yourself today!"
Henry Marshall knew he was being too jumpy. The main reason was that Cecilia Sterling had left him with deep psychological scars. It was the most severe beating he had ever received in his life.
"I-I’m fine." Henry Marshall breathed a sigh of relief, casually pulled a couple of paper towels to dry his hands, and turned to leave.
But the other guy grabbed him. "You don’t like the one you got today? No way! We saved the prettiest one for you!"
Henry Marshall stared at him wide-eyed. ’What’s the use of her being pretty? Do I dare to even think about it? I’m scared half to death!’
"How about we switch?" the guy said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
Seeing this, Henry Marshall snapped irritably, "Switch with your mom! Let me give you some advice: you can’t touch any of these girls today. If anything goes wrong, you’ll be in for a world of hurt!"
He didn’t know about the others, but that person who beat him up for her own sister would definitely stand up for her friends.
The safest bet was not to mess with them.
"Let’s find an excuse to break this up in a bit," Henry Marshall said.
His companion was stunned, but he picked up on a hint from Henry Marshall’s words. "You know them?"
Henry Marshall glanced at him and said softly, "Look, I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. I can’t afford to offend the girl next to me, and you guys can’t afford to offend her even more."
His companion understood immediately. Now Henry Marshall’s strange behavior today made perfect sense.
Just as the two of them were coming out of the men’s room, they ran right into Cecilia Sterling.
Henry Marshall’s body instantly went rigid, and he didn’t know what kind of expression to make. His tension was so contagious that his companion also stood bolt upright beside him, grinning foolishly at Cecilia Sterling.
Cecilia Sterling looked at the two of them with a puzzled expression and couldn’t help but chuckle. "What’s this? Standing at attention?"
Henry Marshall hung his head with an awkward expression, his fear of Cecilia Sterling written all over his face. Cecilia couldn’t be bothered to tease him and said bluntly, "I’m about to leave. You guys have fun."
She had to go to the industrial park in the afternoon, and Jeb had specifically asked her to dinner for something important tonight.
Hearing this, Henry Marshall felt a wave of relief wash over him and quickly said, "We were about to leave too."
Cecilia Sterling nodded without another word and left first.
Henry Marshall let out a long sigh of relief, but his companion said, "Isn’t it perfect that she’s gone? There are still three others!"
Henry Marshall shot him a glare and said through clenched teeth, "Stay if you want to die."
"Is it that serious? What’s that girl’s background?"
"A huge background. The kind you and I can’t afford to mess with, got it?"
Rarely seeing Henry Marshall so serious, his companion didn’t dare to disbelieve him. Although he felt it was a pity, he still nodded.
Meanwhile, when Cecilia Sterling returned from the restroom, she found that Estelle Goodman had beaten her to it and was already getting up to put on her coat.
Looking closer, she saw someone standing next to their booth—it was Charles Jennings.
"Huh? Charles?" Cecilia Sterling was a bit surprised and took the initiative to greet him.
When Charles Jennings saw Cecilia Sterling, his previously expressionless face warmed slightly. Polite as ever, he nodded and said, "Classmate Cecilia."
Cecilia had tried to correct this form of address before, but Charles couldn’t seem to change, so she let it go.
Cecilia looked from Charles to Estelle. "What are you two up to?"
Estelle, now fully dressed, came to Cecilia’s side and said proudly, "He’s here to take me to the driving school for practice."
Cecilia had almost forgotten about that. She thought Estelle had just been talking big before, but it turned out she had actually gone.
"How’s it going?" Cecilia asked.
Estelle raised her eyebrows, full of confidence. "Extremely smoothly!"
But Cecilia saw Charles secretly shake his head at her, the look in his eyes hard to describe.
Cecilia smiled discreetly and said encouragingly, "Alright, I hope you get your driver’s license within six months!"
"Who are you looking down on? I’ll definitely get it in three months, just like you!" Estelle declared haughtily, then turned and waved to the others. "I’m heading out now!"
Before leaving, she didn’t forget to praise the guy who had been sitting next to her: "Nice abs, by the way!"
Charles’s brow furrowed.
The guy grinned. "Maybe you can touch them again next time."
Charles’s gaze turned sharp.
Before Estelle could say anything else, Charles said coldly, "If we don’t go now, we’ll only be left with the stinky cars!"
Estelle was startled and quickly pulled Charles away. The driving school’s cars were all so smelly; only a few new ones were reasonably clean. Plus, with so many people learning to drive during the holiday, if they were late, they wouldn’t get one.
Inside the elevator, Charles’s face was like an icebox, faintly radiating a cold chill.
Estelle noticed something was off with him. She blinked and moved closer to ask, "What’s wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Charles smelled Estelle’s perfume and subconsciously shuffled to the side. Seeing this, Estelle’s delicate eyebrows knitted together. "What are you doing, avoiding me?"
"I’m not."
"You totally are!"
Charles fell silent, his eyes fixed on the descending numbers of the elevator display.
Estelle puffed her cheeks and lightly punched him with her small fist. "Is it because you don’t want to come with me to driving practice?"
"No."
"Fine, don’t tell me. I don’t want to know anyway!" Estelle feigned anger and turned her face away.
Charles glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and suddenly asked in a low voice, "How could you just randomly touch another guy’s abs?"
Estelle turned her head back, a smile blooming on her lips. "Oh, so you’re jealous that other guys have abs? He lifted his shirt and let me touch them himself. So I touched them. It’s not like it’s illegal!"
"I’m not jealous. It’s not like I don’t have them."
"You have abs?" Estelle looked at Charles’s fair, smooth face, which was even a little chubby with baby fat, her eyes filled with doubt.
Charles said with a completely serious expression, "Of course I do!"
"Then let me see!"
"No!"
"Let me see!"
Charles fell silent.
"If you don’t show me, it means you don’t have them!"
"Say whatever you want. I have them."
Seeing that the elevator was about to reach the first floor, Estelle saw her chance and suddenly made a grab for Charles’s stomach, a mischievous, triumphant smirk on her face. Unexpectedly, Charles reacted in a flash, raising a hand to push hers down just as she was about to succeed.
Who knew that due to inertia, Estelle’s hand, though deflected, didn’t stop and landed squarely on Charles’s crotch!
"AHH—"
With a shriek, Estelle shot into the corner of the elevator, staring in horror at the equally dumbfounded Charles Jennings.
"You’re the one who pushed my hand there! It has nothing to do with me!"
In the next second, Charles’s fair face visibly turned bright red, the blush spreading all the way down to the base of his neck.
Ding. First floor.
The elevator doors opened, and Estelle bolted out in a flash. "I’ll wait for you outside."
