Gu Juan didn’t dare say anything else, nodded hurriedly, and then left with her head down.

"Little sister, the person you found isn’t mentally disturbed, is he?" someone said.

"I shouldn’t think so... probably not." The girl seemed unsure.

By the time they looked at Gu Juan again, she had already vanished without a trace.

When she reached a corner where no one was around, Gu Juan stopped, leaned against the wall, and clutched her chest tightly.

Lv Guoqing? Lv Guoqing!

Of course, she hoped that what she heard and saw wasn’t real.

But over these years, Lv Guoqing had thought of nothing else but painting, and although he was already over fifty, he didn’t look much different from two or three decades ago.

Time seemed to have left no mark on him at all.

In contrast, her own hands had become rough after years of labor in prison without maintenance, let alone her face.

Even though she hadn’t looked in the mirror for a long time, she knew her face had grown coarse like that of a sixty-year-old.

Yet, she was only in her early fifties.

Gu Juan couldn’t help but wonder if her life would have been different if she hadn’t despised Lv Guoqing and had married him back then.

And the child.

Earlier, she heard them say that Lv Guoqing had a son, who was also very accomplished and probably very wealthy.

If she hadn’t abandoned the child back then and had raised him, she’d now be living a life everyone envied, rather than being despised wherever she went.

Gu Juan regretted it.

But unfortunately, there is no medicine for regret in this world.

After thinking for a while, Gu Juan slowly stood up and hunched over as she walked toward the restaurant kitchen.

Yes, she had a slight hunch in her back now.

One year while in prison, she was caught in a fight, and her spine got broken. She lay in the hospital for a long time, but because she wasn’t sent to the hospital in time, she was left with this aftereffect.

Not only was she slightly hunched, but her lower back also ached terribly whenever it rained.

"Where did you go just now?" the girl asked angrily when she saw her return, "Hurry up and get to work. On your first day and you already want to slack off?"

"No, I’m going right now." Gu Juan quickly waved her hands and said.

"Alright, get going," the girl said, "we’re going to be busy for the next few days."

"Huh?" Gu Juan looked at her confusedly.

"Well, it’s okay to tell you. Our hotel is hosting a grand banquet," the girl said proudly, "you saw the people on TV just now, right? Yes, Qin City’s welcome banquet for the famous painter will be held at our hotel."

"What?" Gu Juan was completely stunned.

A famous painter?

Could it be Lv Guoqing?

Gu Juan quickly lowered her head, "I... I see."

It’s good to know in advance so she can avoid any awkward encounters.

If this had been before she went to prison, when Lv Guoqing became famous and her son wealthy, she would have done everything to reunite with them.

But now, Gu Juan laughed at herself.

She had become such a wreck; would she really seek humiliation?

Besides, so many years had passed. Who knows if there’s someone else by Lv Guoqing’s side?

As for the child, Gu Juan didn’t dare acknowledge him either.

What if he resented the past and refused to recognize her, or worse, sought revenge?
