An unmarried woman actually plans not to get married.

It’s a rare thing in this era.

Zhao Jingmiao shook her head with a bitter smile, "Anyway, I just won’t get married, as long as you understand this, as for the reason?"

Pain flashed across Zhao Jingmiao’s face as she spoke, "Don’t force me, I don’t want to talk about it."

"You should go, don’t come back in the future."

She finished speaking and moved aside from the doorway.

The meaning couldn’t be clearer, she was asking him to leave.

Qian Bao saw her like that, after thinking for a moment, he still went ahead and finished washing the dishes, turned off the gas stove on the cooktop, and said, looking at her turned head, "The chicken soup in the clay pot should be ready to drink."

Originally, it would be better to stew it a bit longer, but he was afraid she would forget to turn off the fire and cause an accident.

Zhao Jingmiao said nothing.

Qian Bao glanced at her again, then walked out of the kitchen, saw the dishes on the table she hadn’t touched much, "I’m leaving now, you should eat quickly."

Once the room door closed, Zhao Jingmiao collapsed against the wall sliding down to the floor.

Tears had already streamed down her cheeks, biting her lip tightly, not making a sound.

There’s a kind of affection called destined but not fated.

That must be her.

It’s unclear how long she sat on the floor, or cried, before Zhao Jingmiao slowly got up, looking at the table set with dishes he had prepared.

She sat down, picked up the chopsticks, and began to eat.

The dishes were already cold, but she ate as if they were still so delicious.

Her mouth was stuffed full, yet the tears kept flowing uncontrollably.

This time, she had no more qualms, put down the chopsticks, and cried at the table.

Unbeknownst to her, at the door, Qian Bao, after closing it, hadn’t left.

He stood at the doorway smoking, one cigarette after another.

Suddenly, he heard a sorrowful sob from inside.

At first, it was somewhat suppressed, but later even the restraint was gone, the crying was profoundly painful.

Qian Bao’s heart grew even heavier.

What was the reason?

Clearly, he could feel that Zhao Jingmiao didn’t dislike him, but what was the reason for her pushing him away?

Qian Bao felt he had to find this reason; otherwise, he might never win her heart in this lifetime.

He held his hand up for a long time, thought about it, and finally put it down.

Only after the cries from the room became softer, turned into sobs, and eventually couldn’t be heard, did Qian Bao silently leave Zhao Jingmiao’s house.

Gu Lingling was at work when she suddenly heard someone outside saying a visitor was looking for her, she wondered who it could be, only to find Qian Bao sitting in the reception room.

Holding a cigarette, wanting to smoke but refraining due to the no smoking signs on the wall.

"You looking for me?" Gu Lingling asked him.

"I want to know what happened to her in the past." Qian Bao asked directly, "She said she will never marry in the future, can you tell me why?"

Qian Bao had thought about investigating Zhao Jingmiao’s past, but didn’t want to wait, after careful consideration, he came to ask Gu Lingling.

"Back then, she and Lei Xingjun were supposed to get engaged, weren’t they?" Qian Bao said, "What was the reason they didn’t marry?"

Qian Bao believed there must be a reason Zhao Jingmiao didn’t marry Lei Xingjun.

And this reason must be related to her current refusal of him.

Gu Lingling looked at Qian Bao with some surprise.

This person has a sharp insight.
