The next day, the hospital conducted an examination, and apart from the self-inflicted wound Zhao Jingmiao had made to stay awake, everything else had healed.

She could stay in the hospital if she wanted, but Zhao Jingmiao didn’t want to be there any longer. Qian Bao seemed to have anticipated this and drove over directly to take her and Gu Lingling to the house Zhao Jingmiao had purchased.

She also bought a place near the siheyuan of Gu Lingling and Hao Lianlian. However, she didn’t have much money, so naturally, she couldn’t afford such a house, and instead purchased a small three-bedroom apartment in a high-rise nearby.

At that time, Zhao Jingmiao didn’t want to buy it.

Her finances were tight, and besides, a house is just a place to live no matter where it is, so why own so many?

It was Gu Lingling who persuaded her, saying that it wouldn’t be appropriate for Gu Chunxia and others to stay in her rented place when they came to the Capital City in the future, right?

Plus, with everyone living in the same area, they could look out for each other.

The most important thing was that this house was offered at an internal price and was very cheap. Later, it would be impossible to find such a price.

According to what Gu Lingling knew, when this area developed next year, property prices here would multiply several times over.

This was Qian Bao’s first visit to Zhao Jingmiao’s home.

The room was decorated simply, yet very cozy, just like her.

There wasn’t much stuff. Qian Bao dropped her off, stayed for a while, and then left.

"Go on, you should leave. I’m fine here," Zhao Jingmiao urged Gu Lingling.

She had already taken two days off and needed to hurry back to work.

"I’ve almost fully recovered. I’m not as fragile as you all think," Zhao Jingmiao said with a bitter smile.

Was it her idea?

It was clearly Qian Bao, considering how carefully he looked after her along the way.

"Alright then, if you need anything, call me, or have Grandpa Hao come over," Gu Lingling said. "Xuefei will be back in a couple of days; think about how you want to talk to him."

Zhao Xuefei had just gone to study out of town in the past couple of days.

"Are you really not planning to tell the family back home?" she asked again.

"No, I don’t want to worry them," Zhao Jingmiao shook her head, "Just go quickly."

"I’ll have Taoran Inn deliver lunch to you, so you don’t have to worry about it," Gu Lingling continued to nag, "Get good rest; Little Cui is managing things at the store, and we’ll discuss the contract later."

"Your current mission is to get yourself well as soon as possible."

"Alright, alright, Mrs. Gu," Zhao Jingmiao said with a helpless smile, "Just go, just go."

Gu Lingling gave her a playful glare, "I’m really leaving now."

Zhao Jingmiao laughed and ushered her out.

Although there were familiar faces at the office, constantly asking for leave or arriving late and leaving early wasn’t good.

Gu Lingling smiled as she went downstairs. Eager to rush to work, she didn’t notice a car parked not far away. Qian Bao only got out of the car when he saw her leaving the complex.

He took the fruits and the vegetables and meats he had just bought out of the car trunk and carried them to the door.

"Who is it? Hold on a moment," Zhao Jingmiao called from inside, "Lingling, did you forget something?"

She opened the door, surprised.

She hadn’t expected it to be Qian Bao.

Moreover, he was holding bags full of stuff.

No wonder she had left in such a hurry earlier; she must have gone shopping.

"I thought you might not have much here, so I bought some for you," Qian Bao said, slightly blushing.

Zhao Jingmiao noticed that he even brought an old hen.

It felt as though she were about to sit for confinement after childbirth.

She couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed.
