Chapter 703: Crisis of Trust

  • Next Chapter

“Mike, how are things? Where is Dormammu?”

When Mike walked out of the Mirror Dimension, Stephen, who was waiting outside, quickly came to greet him.

As for the streets of Hong Kong, because Mike had timely pulled Dormammu into the Mirror Dimension earlier, the chaos on the streets did not continue to spread.

The resulting disturbance had largely been quelled by Mordo and the three old wizards.

Furthermore, the dark energy overflowing around the Hong Kong Sanctum had almost all been absorbed by Scarlet Witch and transformed into her own Chaos Power.

With the protection of the Book of Vishanti, Scarlet Witch, who had gained even stronger Chaos Power, still maintained her sanity.

“It’s fine now. Dormammu has returned to its Dark Dimension and shouldn’t be back for a while,” Mike replied to Stephen, then nodded to the worried girl beside him.

“It’s rare to have good news.” Hearing that the great enemy had left, Stephen felt he finally had a chance to breathe.

He had experienced Kaecilius’s betrayal and the death of the previous Sorcerer Supreme.

Coupled with Dormammu’s invasion, he was utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.

Of course, after catching his breath, he had more important work to do. That was to quickly re-establish the Sanctum’s defense network while Dormammu was gone.

So, after a brief respite, Stephen quickly went back to the streets of Hong Kong to find Mordo and the three old wizards.

Re-establishing the Sanctum’s defense network was not easy; it required the support of all the Wizards in Kamar-Taj.

And this involved another problem.

That was, Stephen first had to clearly explain Kaecilius’s betrayal and Ancient One’s death to the Wizards in Kamar-Taj before he could hope to reintegrate their power there.

Mordo and the three old wizards, as witnesses to the entire event, could serve as Stephen’s corroboration, enhancing his persuasiveness.

“That enemy earlier seemed very powerful. You’re not hurt, are you?” As Stephen went to find people, Scarlet Witch, like a little wife, came to Mike’s side and checked him up and down.

“I’m fine. Dormammu couldn’t hurt me at all.” Mike shook his head, but still opened his arms, allowing Scarlet Witch to check him.

This feeling of being cared for was very good.

Looking at the girl’s gentle expression, Mike spoke with concern, “Tell me about you. You absorbed so much dark energy. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

“I’m also very good. I feel like I have endless energy inside me now.” Hearing his concern, Scarlet Witch also smiled.

Compared to before, the Chaos Power within the girl had at least increased severalfold.

As long as she learned how to use them, the girl’s strength would immediately undergo a leapfrog improvement.

Reaching a single cosmic level was not impossible.

Of course, even now, relying solely on her vast Chaos Power, Scarlet Witch would probably be a bit stronger than Stephen, who wielded the Time Stone.

Similar to: one force breaking ten thousand techniques.

Even if Stephen was a magical genius and had the Time Stone to help him, to deal with the current Scarlet Witch, he would probably only be able to restrain the girl by using that one tricky time loop spell.

Of course, it was merely a restraint.

If Scarlet Witch chose to ignore Stephen in the time loop, Stephen would have no way to deal with her.

Similarly, Dormammu, who had entered the time loop before, could actually bypass Stephen and directly rule the world.

It was just a pity that Dormammu, as a dimensional demon, was very powerful, but its brain seemed not to be very good.

It was provoked by Stephen from the start and fell into a misconception.

From a certain perspective, Dormammu could also be considered an “honest” demon god.

While Mike and Scarlet Witch were chatting, Stephen, who had gone to find people, returned shortly with the three old wizards.

As for Mordo, he seemed to have his own ideas and had chosen to leave Kamar-Taj.

“Mike, thank you for your help this time. We’ll see you next time,” Stephen, who still had a lot of messes to clean up, said goodbye to Mike, then led the three old wizards to open a portal to Kamar-Taj.

It was clear that his mood was not very high.

Probably because he couldn’t bring Mordo back.

“Then we’ll get together when we have time.” Mike also waved goodbye to Stephen.

As for Mordo’s whereabouts, Stephen didn’t mention it, and Mike naturally wouldn’t ask too many questions.

He was just an irrelevant person, not worth Mike’s too much thought.

After seeing Stephen and the others leave, Mike also took Scarlet Witch and returned to the New York City villa through the portal.

“Mike, what about the Wizards’ matter?”

Iron Man, who had finished dealing with the aftermath of the New York City disturbance, was waiting at the villa.

With him were the Avengers members and street heroes like Spider-Man.

The commotion caused by Kaecilius and the Dormammu Zealots this time, although slightly smaller than the previous alien invasion, had an equally detrimental impact.

Moreover, it involved mysterious magical power and the equally mysterious Kamar-Taj.

Therefore, Iron Man and the others needed an answer.

Or rather, they needed to confirm that those Wizards would not cause any more trouble.

“Don’t worry, the troublemakers have been dealt with. This kind of disturbance should not happen again in the future,” Mike gave a definite answer.

Powerful dimensional demon gods like Dormammu were rare.

In other words, even if the Wizards in Kamar-Taj wanted to cause trouble again next time, without Dormammu, this powerful demon god, supporting them from behind, they probably wouldn’t be able to stir up much trouble.

“That’s great, I knew with you here, there would be no problem… It’s all Steve’s fault, insisting on waiting here…” Iron Man smiled, then promptly pushed the blame for this operation onto Captain America.

“I, I didn’t…” Captain America quickly explained, and nodded friendly to Mike.

Captain America still respected Mike, this kind-hearted and mysterious powerhouse.

“It’s rare that the problem is solved and everyone is together again. Let’s have a party!” Iron Man didn’t give Captain America much chance to explain, and immediately proposed a party invitation.

Moreover, after the Ultron incident last time, there were clear rifts between the Avengers members, and this was a good opportunity for everyone to open up and mend their relationships.

Mutual trust was especially important for a team.

Coupled with young people like Spider-Man and Quicksilver among the street heroes, who also yearned for parties.

Thus, a temporary party began at the villa.

Of course, food and drinks were all provided by Tony, the super-rich man.

He first sent his intelligent butler Friday to Stark Tower to get his treasured red wine, and then, at the request of Deadpool and others, had the intelligent butler order common foods like fried chicken legs, pizza, and beer from outside.

With chatterboxes like Deadpool and Spider-Man enlivening the atmosphere, the party quickly became lively.

“Mindy, you’re not old enough to drink. Go back and drink your soda.” Mike, who was chatting with Black Widow, caught a glimpse of Hit-Girl’s small movement.

The little girl, taking advantage of the excitement, secretly snatched a bottle of beer from the table.

It could only be said that compared to high-end foods like vintage red wine, caviar, and foie gras, junk food like fried chicken and beer was more popular at the party.

Hit-Girl watched enviously and wanted to join in.

Unexpectedly, she was discovered by Mike, who was busy.

The little girl had a flash of inspiration, blinking her big eyes and looking at Big Daddy for help.

As a single father and anti-hero, Big Daddy had taught Mindy assassination skills, so he naturally wouldn’t care about the little girl drinking alcohol.

However, Big Daddy also knew what was best for Mindy.

Now that someone was helping him look after his little daughter, it was a good thing.

So, in response to Mindy’s plea, Big Daddy dramatically turned his head, choosing to ignore her.

“Aren’t you going to put the beer down?” Mike urged.

“Hmph!” Hit-Girl, whose plea was unsuccessful, reluctantly put the beer back on the table.

Then she sat next to Quicksilver and Spider-Man and drank sparkling water.

“It’s a pity that Thor and Banner are not here at a time like this. I wonder how Banner is doing now.” In the lively atmosphere, Tony, the big mouth, for some unknown reason, suddenly brought up two old Avengers members.

Although he didn’t name names, those who knew the inside story understood that he was blaming Captain America.

After all, during the Ultron incident, Captain America had also blamed Banner.

And a large part of Banner’s departure was due to guilt over that incident.

As Tony’s words came out, the eyes of Black Widow, Hawkeye, and others subtly gathered on Captain America.

“I don’t think I’m wrong. The public shouldn’t have to pay for our recklessness.” Captain America gave a strong response.

At this, the good atmosphere of the party instantly vanished.

Seeing that Tony still wanted to say something, Hawkeye quickly interjected to ease the tension, “Alright, Tony, don’t say any more. Banner’s matter isn’t entirely Captain’s fault.”

“Did I say anything?” Tony’s personality was that of someone who couldn’t hold his tongue. He raised his glass and said, “To our team, and to Banner and Thor who have left, cheers!”

Well, he was intentionally provoking Captain America.

The other party’s business-like attitude made him very uncomfortable…
