Chapter 849: Chapter 843: Rescue Completed, Back to School_1
“Sigh, Chu Molin, wait for me.” Gong Wuyou quickened his pace to catch up with the person in front of him, heading back to school. Today was his first time participating in a rescue mission. He had only previously heard stories, but today he’d experienced it firsthand. It made him understand just how unpredictable life could be; calamities could strike without any warnings.
If Chu Molin knew what Gong Wuyou was thinking, he would surely mock his intelligence. After all, how could one prepare for calamity? If preparation were possible, would it still be considered a calamity?
After they returned to the school, they had to clean themselves off and get back to classes. Today, twenty of them had volunteered to help. Only Gong Wuyou and another student from their dormitory had returned. As he was about to shower, he noticed a cut on his wrist. No wonder it stung when he touched water.
It was only after Chu Molin had dressed that Gong Wuyou could shower. This was a perk of school: individual washrooms, not like the communal ones outside. Despite it being common for guys not to mind such exposure, he preferred this private setup—much more agreeable.
Chu Molin took out a healing salve Qin Xue had given him and applied it to the wound. It was a habit of his to always have some with him. Given their tendency to venture outdoors frequently, injuries were common. Carrying a salve with him seemed like an insurance policy he might need someday—like today.
“Why is there a scent of ointment?” Gong Wuyou asked as he came out of the shower. Chu Molin had just finished applying the salve and buttoning up, so Gong Wuyou hadn’t seen his injury. He only smelled a faint medicinal scent hanging in the air—a distinctive feature of Qin Xue’s concoctions. The smell wasn’t strong but it was effective.
“See for yourself.” Chu Molin pointed at the salve jar on the table for Gong Wuyou to inspect.
“Chu Molin, how did I not know you brought this healing ointment?” Gong Wuyou picked up the jar, having never seen this salve before.
“Must I inform you about everything?” Chu Molin didn’t bother with Gong Wuyou’s occasional dimwittedness. Instead, he tidied up his outfit, opened the door, and left Gong Wuyou in a whirl of confusion.
Gong Wuyou quickly put the salve back in its original spot, hastily dressed, and then rushed off to class. Today’s class was under the strictest professor. There would be severe consequences for tardiness.
With a flurry of activity, he managed to catch up with Chu Molin just before he entered the classroom. Hearing footsteps behind him, Chu Molin had a slight smile on his face. At least, he wasn’t beyond all hope.
“Reporting for class,” Chu Molin and Gong Wuyou stood straight at the entrance of the classroom, waiting for the professor’s permission to enter.
“Come in and sit. Class is in progress.” Their luck was not too bad. The professor glanced at them and allowed them to enter without further ado.
Chu Molin took out his textbooks and focused on the lecture. The morning’s rescue episode was over. If they didn’t mention it, hardly anyone would know that they had been involved in the rescue mission.
After tidying up the surgical tools, Qin Xue and Mr. Mo exited the operating room. All she wanted was to sit down and enjoy a good meal. She was famished!
“Mr. Mo, is there any place to eat nearby?” Qin Xue had only had breakfast and nothing else in over ten hours; she was starving.
“Let’s go to eat together; I’m also hungry.” Mr. Mo massaged his tired forehead. It had been a long time since he had done such a lengthy and complex surgery. He was indeed exhausted.
“Alright, what would you like to eat, sir?” All Qin Xue could think of was meat.
