Chapter 2234: Chapter 2228: Lacking Emotion
Qing Zhu really likes Qin Xue’s four kids; they’re beautiful, cute, and sensible. Who wouldn’t like kids like this? It’s truly admirable how she raised them so well.
"Alright, sure, you can help out, or you could cook while I assist. You must be tired of eating my cooking all the time; a change in flavor isn’t bad," Qin Xue initially agreed, but upon thinking it over, realized she’s always the one cooking and that can get monotonous. Qing Zhu has good culinary skills, so with her help, they could try something different.
"Are you serious?" Qing Zhu asked Qin Xue. Is this really okay?
"Of course, when have you ever seen me joke about food?" Qin Xue never jokes around when it comes to food; she takes it very seriously.
"Alright then, I’ll do it," Qing Zhu agreed, unafraid to take charge. Her cooking skills are indeed commendable, particularly her spicy dishes. However, with the kids around, she makes half of the dishes mild and half spicy.
"Indeed, having someone else cook really changes your mood; it even smells different," Qin Xue commented while looking at the dishes coming out of the pot—it truly smelled tempting.
"You’re just praising me because you haven’t had my cooking in a while. When I was busy with work, you always cooked, but whenever I took a vacation, I did the cooking myself. We both know each other’s culinary expertise, and changing things up is actually nice," Qing Zhu replied.
"Qin Xue, since when did your culinary skills improve?" An Hao’s voice sounded from outside.
"Geez, was that necessary? Qing Zhu, see, I told you, just because I cooked a different dish, An Hao thinks my skills have improved. Does this mean she thinks my regular cooking isn’t good or believes I’m not as good as you? This really hits me hard," Qin Xue said with a hand over her heart.
"You’re probably not putting much heart into it, so the dishes lack emotional depth," Qing Zhu answered without missing a beat.
"Great, I might as well not talk to you," said Qin Xue, feeling more upset by the comment, realizing saying nothing might’ve been better.
"I’m serious. If you’re a bit distracted, a true culinary expert can sense it. Otherwise, why do they say you can taste the cook’s feelings in the food? You remember this, don’t you?" Qing Zhu asked as she continued cooking.
"You’ve eaten my cooking often, haven’t you? Do you know if I ever lacked in focus?" Qin Xue wasn’t truly upset, just acknowledging that Qing Zhu’s cooking was genuinely delicious.
"Yes, I’ve tasted it, and it’s good, but it lacks emotion," Qing Zhu remarked. In the past, she had friendship without love; now she has love, friendship, and family, yet the taste of her cooking has changed.
This perplexed Qing Zhu, though Qin Xue didn’t ponder over these aspects. After coming here, all the cooking was done using spiritual spring water, ensuring great taste. Maybe because of this, Qin Xue cooked casually, knowing it would still taste fine.
But she forgot that others could interpret her emotions through the food she made.
Qin Xue relied too much on spiritual spring water, causing her to unknowingly cook without passion.
For ordinary people, this was good food, but for the experts, it was just ordinary food, lacking soul.
This is why there’s a distinction between innate talent and no talent for cooking.
Some people make dishes that don’t look appealing but taste delicious, while others create visually stunning dishes that taste bland, like chewing wax.
