Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System
Chapter 540: Stealing the fifty thousand yuan (II)
Han Ruochen walked out of the house carrying a wooden basin. She had just finished taking a bath and was about to dump her bathwater out in the courtyard when someone reached out and caught her by the arm. Startled, she turned around and looked at the person behind her. "Big brother? What is the matter?" Why did he come looking for her in such a hurry?
"Did you know?" Han Yong was breathing hard. He had his head lowered, and Han Ruochen could not see his expression clearly, which made her frown. What happened to her brother? Why was he acting so weirdly out of nowhere? She pursed her lips and asked back, "What did I know?"
"About Mother and Han Ziyan..." He was breathing harshly, and when he raised his head, his eyes were red as blood. "You knew, didn’t you? That’s why you suddenly became estranged from Mother and Han Ziyan. You knew that she was a mother’s bastard. No wonder you have been getting more and more disrespectful toward that woman."
Even Han Yong could not bring himself to respect his mother anymore. If anything, he wished he could rush forward and kill her. That woman had ruined their lives one by one for Han Ziyan. In the past, he used to stay silent, believing that there was nothing wrong with giving in to Han Ziyan. After all, she was a pitiful girl as well. But now that he knew that Han Ziyan was actually the bastard of his mother, he felt like he had been tormented his entire life for no reason!
When Han Ruochen heard his words, she pursed her lips in silence. She neither accepted nor denied. Instead, she asked, "Where did you hear about it?"
"In the living room! Meng Yunhan and Han Ziyan were talking, and I heard from our mother’s mouth that she has another man, and that man is none other than Han Ziyan’s father. Tell me, Ruochen, why did you not say anything? Why did you carry this secret in your heart for so long?!" Han Yong felt like a trapped beast. He wanted to kill his mother for ruining their family and cheating on her husband, but at the same time, she had given all the good things to Han Ziyan. She even sold his sister to a violent man just because she wanted to get money for Han Ziyan.
"Didn’t you already sense there was something wrong with Mom and Ziyan?" Han Ruochen casually pulled her hand away from her brother and asked in a low voice. She tilted her head to look at Han Yong and questioned, "Mom has never hidden her biased attitude toward Ziyan. If anything, it was us who were too foolish. Mom, on the other hand, had been screaming that Ziyan was her daughter."
A complicated look flashed in Han Yong’s eyes, and he clenched his fists so tightly that his nails started to dig into his skin. "Did she... did she really give those ten thousand yuan to her maternal family?" He asked, remembering something. His mom said that she had given the ten thousand yuan to her family savings to her maternal family but now he had other thoughts.
"She had not spoken to her maternal family since the day she came to the countryside."
Han Yong stiffened. His anger surged to his head, and he turned on his heel before speaking through his gritted teeth, "I am going to tell Dad. He has a right to know; how could Mom do such a thing? He worked all of his life for our family, and yet she actually did such a shameless thing?"
"Stop!" However, just as he took a few steps, Han Ruochen reached out and stopped him. Though she did not raise her voice, the crushing authority in his tone hit Han Yong like a bucket of ice water. Han Yong froze and then turned to look at her in shock. "Why? Why won’t you let me tell the truth to him? No, why did you not tell him the truth yourself!?"
"Look at Dad’s condition first, brother." Han Ruochen whispered softly, pointing at the room where light was still glowing. "Dad just came from the hospital. The doctor has warned us that we should not agitate him any further. What if you tell him the truth? What will happen then? If something happened to him now, I am afraid that he will not be able to survive."
Han Yong’s chest started to heave. He pursed his lips and then, after much struggle, he asked, "Then why not earlier? Why did you not tell these things to Dad earlier?"
"And what evidence do you and I have?" Han Ruochen asked coldly. "You overheard a few words, and I did too, but where is the evidence? If you tell Dad that his wife has been cheating on him, will Mom accept it without any fight? No. She would make a fuss and say that we are just being cruel to her because she is biased toward Ziyan. And whether you believe it or not, Dad loves our mom to the point that he ignores a lot of things."
"He often forgives Mom even when she does a lot of wrong things. She even used all of his savings, and he did nothing to her. Why do you think he did it?" Han Ruochen asked with a raise of her brow. "It was because he loves her blindly." Her mother might not even have an ounce of affection for her father, but her father loved Meng Yunhan to his bones. Even when she took his savings and ruined him and his family, he never harmed her in any way. His feelings for Meng Yunhan were quite strong. Unless they broke his trust bit by bit and showed him that Meng Yunhan was not as good as he believed she was.
What was more, with the trust that her father had in her mother—he would only believe what he saw with his own eyes. So it was better for her to slowly deal with everything. After all, a love so deep could only be cracked bit by bit.
