Chapter 524: Treating An Outsider Better Than Him (II)

"There is no need to worry. It has been resolved." Han Ruochen consoled Zhai Heng with a smile. "Travelling overseas must have been fun; did you have enough rest?"

"I did–"

"Look at your eyebags before speaking." Han Ruochen rolled her eyes when she saw Zhai Heng lying to her. The man looked quite tired after running around without sleeping for the entire night. "You should go and rest some more."

"Has it really been settled?" He found it hard to believe. How could such a matter be settled in a few hours? There must have been some kind of trouble.

"Don’t worry, why would I lie?" Han Ruochen smiled at him. "You also know that I can catch quite a lot of stuff at the sea. With that alone, I can always earn enough money to pay for most of the stuff. But if I run into trouble, then I will definitely tell you about it."

"Are you sure?"

"I am."

"That’s good. If you don’t get enough money from fishing, then you can always look for me."

"Sure, I will definitely come to you if I cannot earn enough money." Han Ruochen then lifted the gift in her hand. "I have already received your gift, but unfortunately I don’t have anything for you. Would you like some rock crabs?" She recalled that she had caught some of them and they were yet to be sold. "You can always ferment them."

"Do you think anyone at my home can cook?" Zhai Heng rolled his eyes. What was the point of bringing the rock crabs with him? His sister could not even boil water. Forget about fermenting the rock crabs; she could not even clean them up. He did not want to get constipated.

What was worse, Han Yichen met with an accident. Although Han Ruochen could earn enough money to stabilise the financial condition of the Han family, Zhai Heng was not foolish enough to believe that Han Ruochen had the extra money to bring him some gifts. What was more, he had no idea how much money Han Yichen’s treatment had taken. What if the money was way too high? Then Han Ruochen would end up working herself to bone.

She was the only one who was working in the Han family, as for the rest of the family, they were doing nothing at all. With things getting worse for the Han family, who knows how much Han Ruochen might be suffering?

That would not do. He came in such a hurry and did not know the situation of the Han family. When he gets back home, he must get someone to investigate the situation of the Han family first and find out why Han Yichen ended up in the hospital.

"Then I will go back home and take some rest." Zhai Heng was in a hurry to find out what happened with Han Yichen; thus, he took his leave immediately.

As soon as he returned home, Old Master Zhai looked up from the book that he was reading. "You are back?" He looked at his third grandson, who was sweating profusely. "I have already told you not to be anxious yet you insisted on passing the gift at once. Ah Heng...is your friend now more important than your grandpa in your heart?"

His grandson was so good to an outsider and had been missing her so much that he made a fuss when the business trip was dragged further. He even called to complain, saying that he was acting like a tormentor. Old Master Zhai did not feel good about this. His grandson did not bring any gift for him but instead he brought one for an outsider. He was really upset about this matter.

He had doted on his grandson for more than two decades but never received any gift from him till now. On the other hand, the young lady from the Han family always received a gift from his grandson whenever he came back from an overseas holiday trip.

"Grandpa, don’t fool around with me. I just saw Xiao Ruochen and heard that Uncle Han will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Grandpa, do you know why Uncle Han was admitted to the hospital?" In fact, it would be better if he investigated this matter on his own or asked his elder brother or uncle to do it for him.

"Someone from the Han family was hospitalised? How can I know? Did I not return with you and Yun Tao? How could I know how and when someone from the Han family got admitted into the hospital?" Old Master Zhai felt ridiculous. "Ah Heng, don’t you think that you are too concerned about the Han family way too much?" it was bad enough that his grandson was involved way too much with Han Ruochen; now he was getting even more involved. Why did it matter if her father was admitted to the hospital? So what if he was admitted?

"How can I not care about her? When no one believed in me, it was Xiao Ruochen who believed in me. When all of my family members were plotting against me, Xiao Ruochen, who was an outsider, was the only one who helped me and did not think that I was overthinking too much. If I don’t care about Xiao Ruochen, should I care about Yun Tao? He, who always thinks of scheming against me."

He sneered and reminded, "Don’t forget what he did at country J."

Zhai Heng was smiling but his smile was not reaching his eyes; there was instead a flash of chilliness in his eyes.

"Grandpa, tell me. An outsider treats me better than my own cousin. Tell me, why can’t Yun Tao treat me just as well? I mean, what Yun Tao was thinking when he thought of tripping me again and again during the business trip? If I had failed...what would have happened to me?"

When Zhai Heng brought up this matter, Old Master Zhai could no longer say anything. He could not understand why Zhai Heng and Yun Tao could not get along like normal cousins?
