Shen Lingxue’s face turned pale. She thought that Han Ruochen was taunting her for being too young. She was filled with anger, but she did not lose her temper; instead, she raised her chin and admitted it with a sneer. "So what if I like him? I have liked him since I was a child. I want to be his bride; after all, the two of them have been engaged since we were children. Brother Zhai is outstanding, and he deserves only someone like me, whose family background is compatible with his.

"You..." Shen Lingxue wanted to deny that Han Ruochen had any ability. Han Ruochen was not prepared for Shen Lingxue’s attack. Earlier, when she was speaking to Shen Lingxue, she was only using her own words against her. But Shen Lingxue was so bad-tempered that she actually raised her hand.

However, before Han Ruochen could deal with the woman, another hand, which was big and strong, blocked the slap from Han Ruochen. Most importantly, the person even slapped Shen Lingxue back so hard that it was as if she were slapping herself back.

Shen Lingxue’s strength was naturally not comparable to Zhai Muchen.

Zhai Muchen’s backhand slap was so strong that it not only pushed her hand away but also uprooted her from the ground. Shen Lingxue nearly fell after losing her footing.

"I was not trying to do anything." Shen Lingxue panicked and could only make some silly excuse: "I...I saw that there was a leaf stuck on her shoulder, so I was trying to pat it away. I was not trying to harm her, Brother Zhai."

She regretted having made up such a lame excuse, especially when she saw the look of cold distrust in the eyes of Zhai Muchen. She wanted to bite her tongue off.
