The boat screamed with a sudden intensity, and the propeller started to churn the sea into a froth of misty, white foam. For a second, nothing seemed to be happening, and then there was a sudden explosion.

Boom!

The crashing sound echoed in the distant sea, causing the boat to rock backwards. Han Ruochen gritted her teeth, seeing the boat being pushed backwards and dug her heels into the bottom of the boat to stop herself from being pushed back.

"Hold onto something!" She shouted while looking at Tong Zhaodi, who was almost rolling off the boat because her feet were not stable on the ground.

"Do you think I don’t want to?" With a sound like thunder under the water, Tong Zhaodi felt like her ears were going to pop off the second the sound hit the surface, and this was when the sound had been muffled by the murky waves.

"Just grab something!" Han Ruochen knew that what she was asking was close to impossible, but if Tong Zhaodi didn’t grab onto something soon, there was a good chance that the woman was going to slide off the deck at any moment.

Tong Zhaodi probably realised that the two of them were in quite a risky situation and that they might not even make it out alive if they were not careful. So even though the situation didn’t allow her to make a grab for something, she still did it.

Putting extra effort and strength into her legs, she lunged at the long white pole sticking next to the cabin of the motorboat. Just as Tong Zhaodi made a grab of the pole, the ancient, rusted hull collapsed in on itself. It slid into the deep abyssal trench below the murky water causing a sixty foot wide, crystal clear deep water channel all the way through the strait to open.

"Did we... did we succeed?" Tong Zhaodi muttered, clearly still in disbelief as she stared at the channel that had opened. Even though she was with Han Ruochen throughout the process, she still could not believe that they had actually survived the Devil’s Teeth!

When was the last time a fisherman survived this channel and came out alive without losing an arm or leg? And yet somehow they actually managed to do it without losing even a strand of their hair?

Tong Zhaodi stared at Han Ruochen and when she saw the woman looking at the horizon with a confident glow in her eyes, she knew that they had made it through. The sudden relief that the confidence of Han Ruochen brought Tong Zhaodi was so big that Tong Zhaodi’s legs gave way and she dropped to her knees, feeling all relieved.

They survived! They actually survived!! This was nothing less than a miracle itself.

However, this was not what Han Ruochen was looking for. As her motorboat cut through the ink-black swells, Han Ruochen continued to stare at the murky water. The sea scanning system flickered in front of her, showing her the very thing for which she came to this place.

[System Scan has finished.]

[Submerged Hydrothermal Vents detected.]

[Depth 110 metres]

[Biological Target Identified: Ultra Rare Dragon Blood Giant Emperor Crab Array]

As the notifications continued to flash in front of Han Ruochen, she narrowed her eyes. She knew the value of these ultra-rare dragon-blood giant emperor crabs very well. These rare crabs were nothing less than mythic deep-sea crustaceans with a natural ruby-red glass-like shell and flesh so sweet and rich that it was once reserved exclusively for imperial banquets.

They lived in the dark abyssal vents, and it was almost impossible for any fishermen to reach them because these dark vents were hidden in dangerous depths like this one.

She turned to look at the woman behind her and said, "What are you sitting there for? Get the reinforced mesh trap." Han Ruochen ordered before pausing and saying, "And also grease the cable."

"What? What can we even catch in this place?" Tong Zhaodi was sure that she had misheard because how could Han Ruochen come up with a crazy plan of catching seafood in a channel that was riddled with so many mines and traps?

"Something that is going to shake up the whole sea-fishing history."

"Ziyan?"

Han Ziyan, who had been sleeping, raised her head and looked up at her manager. When she saw that she was caught sleeping, she could not help but flush red in embarrassment. Lowering her head, she apologised, "I am sorry, Manager Chen."

Manager Chen, however, remained unmoved. With her heavy, bespectacled eyes, she looked down at Han Ziyan and sternly spoke, "How many times are you going to apologise and how many times do I need to scold you? Clearly you have no intention to change yourself, do you?"

This was the fifth time Manager Chen had caught Han Ziyan sleeping on her shift. And that too in a single week. Manager Chen was already upset because Han Ziyan’s sudden intervention had caused her niece’s spot to be taken away.

If only Han Ziyan had not bought the job for such a high price, then this job could have fallen into the hands of her niece. It was all because of this woman that she couldn’t force that worker to sell his job for a lesser price.

If she hadn’t intervened, then this job would belong to her niece!

And Manager Chen could have forgiven Han Ziyan for snatching the job if she was willing to work hard, but look at her attitude!

She was lazy and flirtatious. What was more, she had shown no effort to change herself. This was something that Manager Chen could not forgive.

"I—I just closed my eyes for a second." Seeing that she couldn’t quibble, Han Ziyan lowered her head and mumbled a feeble excuse, but even to her it sounded like a poor lie.

"I have been standing here for the past ten minutes! Do you still want to lie and say that you just closed your eyes?"
